Girls (Beastie Boys song)

"Girls" is a song by American hip hop group the Beastie Boys, released in 1987 as well as the music video as the seventh and final single from their debut album Licensed to Ill. Like "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)", this song was never performed live and it is one of the few songs on the album that are not in the vein of their standard rap songs.

Song structure and lyrics

The song is the shortest on the album, lasting just over 2 minutes long. The song's instrumental is relatively simple, consisting of a drum beat being played over a vibraphone loop, with occasional pauses. The song contains many similarities to the song "Shout" by The Isley Brothers.

Lyrically, the song talks about the narrator (Ad-Rock)'s desire for women. He recalls a experience from two years before with a woman who had an interest in the narrator's band mate MCA. MCA did not share her feelings and permitted the narrator to pursue her romantically. Ad-Rock takes the woman for a walk near a body of water and asks for her hand. The woman rejects his proposal. She moves to a far away location but in the present day the narrator sees her back in town showing interest in his other band mate, Mike D.

Girls (Brazilian band)

Girls were a Brazilian girl group of pop music formed in 2013 through the program Fábrica de Estrelas, transmitted by the network-TV Multishow. The group is composed of Ani Monjardim, Bruna Rocha, Caroline Ferreira, Jennifer Nascimento and Natascha Piva. The group's first album, the homônio Girls, was released on September 3 by Sony Music, bringing the participation of Negra Li, Mika Borges, Aggro Santos and Suave, besides compositions of integral NX Zero, Gee Rocha and Di Ferrero. The first single, "Acenda a Luz", was released on August 8, and the disc also removed two promotional singles, "Monkey See Monkey Do" and "Shake Shake".

On January 30, 2014, it was announced the end of the group by producer Rick Bonadio amid great controversy due to own Sony Music claims not to have more interest in the work of girls, thereby precluding the continuity of the group.

Girls (Tina Turner song)

"Girls" is a song by recording artist Tina Turner, from her 1986 album Break Every Rule. It was written by David Bowie and Erdal Kizilcay and produced by Terry Britten. Phil Collins plays drums on the recording. Upon its single released, it became a top 20 hit on the Dutch Singles Chart.

Bowie later recorded two different versions of the song himself during the Never Let Me Down sessions, one with vocals in English and another with vocals in Japanese. Both versions appeared as B-sides for different formats of the "Time Will Crawl" single in 1987.

Central (Monterrey Metro)

The Central Station (Spanish: Estación Central) is a station on Line 1 of the Monterrey Metro. It is located in the Madero Avenue in the Monterrey Centre. It was opened on April 25, 1991.

This station serves the northwest side of the downtown area and also the Monterrey Bus Depot (Central de Autobuses). It is accessible for people with disabilities.

This station is named after the Bus Depot nearby, and its logo represents a couple of buses. Because of the name, "Estación Central" this station is not to be confused with the term "Central Station" of some Europeans cities.

Central (Liverpool ward)

Coordinates: 53°24′36″N 2°58′48″W / 53.410°N 2.980°W / 53.410; -2.980 Central is a Liverpool City Council Ward in the Liverpool Riverside Parliamentary constituency. The population at the 2011 census was 20,340. It was formed for the 2004 municipal elections from the former Abercromby, Everton and Smithdown wards. It contains the majority of the city centre but also includes Kensington Fields in Kensington to the east and the Marybone/Holy Cross community in Vauxhall. The ward includes the longstanding city centre community around the Bullring, as well as many new city centre apartments. Furthermore, the ward contains the Pier Head and the two larger universities; the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University.

In 2004 Central was the city's most marginal ward, largely due to the intervention of the hard left Liverpool Labour Community Party. In more recent elections has become safer for Labour. The May 2008 local elections saw Labour take 62% of the vote.

Central station (Jacksonville Skyway)

Central is a station of the Jacksonville Skyway in Jacksonville, Florida and the transfer point for the system's Northbank and Southbank lines. It is located on Bay Street between Pearl and Julia Streets in Downtown Jacksonville. The station is near the Jacksonville Landing.

History

The Central station was one of the three original Jacksonville Skyway stations that opened in June 1989. At the time it was the eastern terminus of the line, which ran west to Jefferson station and Terminal station (now Convention Center station). The station was revamped in 1997, when the Skyway system switched from Matra to Bombardier Transportation technology. It was designed as a transfer hub for subsequent extensions to the north and south, which were completed in 1997 and 1998, respectively. It allows transfer between trains heading east from Jefferson station and north from San Marco station. Additionally, the station was constructed to accommodate a future eastern expansion along Bay Street.
