Lyricist
A lyricist or lyrist is a musician who specializes in writing lyrics. A singer who writes the lyrics to songs is a singer-lyricist. This differentiates from a singer-composer, who composes the song's melody.
Royalties
A lyricist's income is derived from royalties received from original songs . The royalties may range from 50% of the song if it was written primarily with the composer, or less if the song was founded from a collaboration. Songs are automatically copyrighted as soon as they are in a tangible form, such as a recording or sheet music; but, before a song is published or made public, it should be registered with the Copyright Office at the U.S. Library of Congress to be able to enforce copyright infringement claims in civil court.
Collaboration
Collaboration takes different forms: Some composers and lyricists work closely together on a song, with each having an input into both words and tune. Usually a lyricist fills in the words to a tune already fully written out. Dorothy Fields worked in this way. Lyricists have often added words to an established tune, as Johnny Burke did with the Erroll Garner tune Misty. Some partnerships work almost totally independently, for example, Bernie Taupin writes lyrics and hands them over to Elton John, who then sets them to music, with minimum interaction between the two men.

Vybz Kartel
Adidja Azim Palmer (born 7 January 1976) better known as Vybz Kartel, is a Jamaican reggae dancehall recording artist and entrepreneur. Some of his singles include "Clarks", "Ramping Shop", "Dancehall Hero" and the Major Lazer collaboration "Pon De Floor".
Kartel was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2014 for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams, an associate. He is not eligible for parole for 35 years.
Biography
Kartel started his career as a teenager in 1993 with his first recording "Love Fat Woman", released on Alvin Reid's label "One Heart", using the moniker "Adi Banton", an homage to Buju Banton. Palmer was later part of the three-member group "Vybez Kartel", keeping the slightly altered name after the group split up, and became a protege of Bounty Killer, for whom he claims to have written nearly 30 songs, including "Gal Clown".
Vybz Kartel rose to prominence in 2003 after a string of hits in Jamaica. The year culminated in a pre-planned on-stage clash with Ninjaman at the annual dancehall festival Sting in Kartel's hometown of Portmore. The clash turned violent when Kartel's crewmembers, as well as Kartel himself, threw punches and assaulted Ninjaman onstage. While Kartel's manager initially blamed Ninjaman for the fracas, Kartel himself quickly apologised to Ninjaman and Sting organizers for the fracas. Four days after the incident, the two artists appeared before the press to announce a settlement of their differences and to end any animosity.

Prasoon Joshi
Prasoon Joshi (born 16 September 1971) is an renowned Indian lyricist, screenwriter and ad-guru. He is current CEO of McCann World group India and Chairman (Asia Pacific), a subsidiary of global marketing firm McCann Erickson. He is also a writer and poet, mainly in Hindi and English languages. He has received Padma Shri in 2015, Filmfare Best Lyricist Award three times, twice consecutively: in 2007 and 2008 and again in 2014 for Hindi movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Prasoon has also received the National Film Award for Best Lyrics twice, once for his work in Taare Zameen Par (2007), and Chittagong (2013). He has been awarded Padma Shri by Government of India for his contribution towards the field of Arts, Literature and Advertising in 2015.
Early life and education
Prasoon Joshi spent his earliest years in Almora, in north Indian state of Uttarakhand (then part of Uttar Pradesh). His father, D.K. Joshi, served as a PCS officer with the Civil Service of the state government and later became the additional director of the state's Education Service. These early years all across the northern India – and spending time in places like Almora, Nainital (where his extended family and relatives still live), Tehri, Chamoli Gopeshwar, and later Rampur, Meerut and Dehradun – gave Prasoon a remarkable feel for the real Indian pulse that he is now celebrated for in his lyrics and advertising. His mother, Sushma Joshi, a lecturer in political science, performed for the All India Radio for over three decades. His parents are qualified classical vocalists and daily home life for the young Prasoon was marked with academic discipline, a rich vein of the artistic life and a strong sense of music and culture.

than what you're able to back when the act is taken up onto
the street they're like "she's so sweet
tryna rap" until they heard her finally snapping on that preemo beat
but I'm like me? I'm chilling, honestly this is light work
another thirty minute verse I probably should rewrite first
but.. I'm lazy as hell, I just say what I felt
and then release it to the people, pray they take it in well
and if they don't, guess the bad is mine

Local media reported that 25 bodies were found in a casino and hotel complex near Manila in the Philippines on Friday morning after a violent shooting, according to CNN.
