The german word flink means swift, agile, speedy, slippy etc.
The main character of this game is nothing like that, but that doesnt make it less enjoyable.
The whole package is really awesome - fantastic Pixel GFX by Henk Nieborg - great music by Matthias Steinwachs and good programming and gameplay design by Erwin Kloibhofer - the same team that brought you the superb Lionheart and later created Lomax in Lemmingland :)
However where there is sunshine theres also rain, the Amiga version has a nasty overlay issue with the HUD that the Megadrive version doesnt have. Another annoyance is flickering, black frames and slowdown that sometimes occur.
I wasnt able to keep the SoundFX of the game intact, as they were heavily broken - this was the case with all Flink versions i tried. Becasue of that i used the CD32 music, which unfortunately rarely fits the level it would originally played in, but at least the endboss music and ending credits should be exact ;)
I tried to show as many secrets as possible but there might be one or two i have overlooked.
Overall this game is one of Amigas best experiences :)

Apache Flink
Apache Flink is a community-driven open source framework for distributed big data analytics, like Hadoop and Spark. The core of Apache Flink is a distributed streaming dataflow engine written in Java and Scala. It aims to bridge the gap between MapReduce-like systems and shared-nothing parallel data base systems. Therefore, Flink executes arbitrary dataflow programs in a data-parallel and pipelined manner. Flink's pipelined runtime system enables the execution of bulk/batch and stream processing programs. Furthermore, Flink's runtime supports the execution of iterative algorithms natively.
Flink programs can be written in Java or Scala and are automatically compiled and optimized into dataflow programs that are executed in a cluster or cloud environment. Flink does not provide its own data storage system, input data must be stored in a distributed storage system like HDFS or HBase. For data stream processing, Flink consumes data from (reliable) message queues like Kafka.

Flink
Flink (released in North America as The Misadventures of Flink), is a 2D scrolling platform video game developed by Psygnosis.
The Amiga CD32 and Sega CD versions are reliant on CD-ROM media to store large levels, highly detailed graphics, and high-quality music. The Mega Drive version is a cut-down version.
Flink is one of the few Amiga CD32 titles not to see a release for the Amiga home computer system, on which the CD32's hardware was based. The majority of titles released for the CD32 were essentially the versions developed for Amiga home computers, taking only minor advantage of the CD-ROM medium with extra levels, CD audio, and/or FMV sequences.
The creators, Erwin Kloibhofer and Henk Nieborg, were also responsible for the games The Adventures of Lomax and Lionheart.
Reception
Reviewing the Sega CD version, GamePro assessed that the quality of the gameplay, graphics, and sound are solid, but that the style is unbearably cutesy, enjoyable only "for an audience that thinks Mickey Mouse is too grown up."

The Apache (/əˈpætʃiː/; French: [a.paʃ]) are culturally related Native American tribes from the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. These indigenous peoples of North America speak Southern Athabaskan languages, which are related linguistically to Athabaskan languages in Alaska and western Canada.
Apache people traditionally have lived in Eastern Arizona, Northern Mexico (Sonora and Chihuahua), New Mexico, West Texas, and Southern Colorado. Apacheria, their collective homelands, consisted of high mountains, sheltered and watered valleys, deep canyons, deserts, and the southern Great Plains. The Apache tribes fought the Spanish and Mexican peoples for centuries. The first Apache raids on Sonora appear to have taken place during the late 17th century. Apache groups are politically autonomous. The major groups speak several different languages and developed distinct and competitive cultures. The current division of Apache groups includes Western Apache, Chiricahua, Mescalero, Jicarilla, Lipan, and Plains Apache (also known as the Kiowa-Apache). Apache groups live in Oklahoma and Texas and on reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. Apache people have moved throughout the United States and elsewhere, including urban centers.

Apache Spark
Apache Spark is an open source cluster computing framework originally developed in the AMPLab at University of California, Berkeley but was later donated to the Apache Software Foundation where it remains today. In contrast to Hadoop's two-stage disk-based MapReduce paradigm, Spark's multi-stage in-memory primitives provides performance up to 100 times faster for certain applications. By allowing user programs to load data into a cluster's memory and query it repeatedly, Spark is well-suited to machine learning algorithms.
Spark requires a cluster manager and a distributed storage system. For cluster management, Spark supports standalone (native Spark cluster), Hadoop YARN, or Apache Mesos. For distributed storage, Spark can interface with a wide variety, including Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS),Cassandra,OpenStack Swift, Amazon S3, Kudu, or a custom solution can be implemented. Spark also supports a pseudo-distributed local mode, usually used only for development or testing purposes, where distributed storage is not required and the local file system can be used instead; in such a scenario, Spark is run on a single machine with one executor per CPU core.

Flink Forward Berlin, September 2017 #flinkforward Stefan Richter, Software Engineer at data Artisans Stateful stream processing with exactly-once guarantees is one of Apache Flink's distinctive features and we have observed that the scale of state that is managed by Flink in production is constantly growing. This development created new challenges for state management in Flink, in particular for state checkpointing, which is the core of Flink's fault tolerance mechanism. Two of the most important problems that we had to solve were the following: (i) how can we limit the duration and size of checkpoints to something that does not grow linearly in the size of the state and (ii) how can we take checkpoints without blocking the processing pipeline in the meantime? We have implemented incremental checkpoints to solve the first problem by checkpointing only the changes between checkpoints, instead of always recording the whole state. Asynchronous checkpoints address the second problem and enable Flink to continue processing concurrently to running checkpoints. In this talk, we will take a deep dive into the details of Flink's new checkpointing features. Plot: Richard Foster is the brains of a quartet of con-artists that includes Giltedge, a stock swindler; "Painless," a phony dentist; and "Gorgeous," along as decoration and bait. Richard goes off alone to attend a reunion of his old high-school class but, when he gets there, he discovers that some of his old friends turn out to be not as simple as he remembered them. The reunion is really a plot to lure an old millionaire, Andrew Anshutter, and his money back to town. Richard enters into the scheme and sends for his friends. Thinks are going well for all concerned, with the exception of Anshutter, but Richard falls in love with his old flame from high-school, Susan Adams, and complications arise.

Stefan Richter, Software Engineer at data Artisans
Stateful stream processing with exactly-once guarantees is one of Apache Flink's distinctive features and we have observed that the scale of state that is managed by Flink in production is constantly growing. This development created new challenges for state management in Flink, in particular for state checkpointing, which is the core of Flink's fault tolerance mechanism. Two of the most important problems that we had to solve were the following: (i) how can we limit the duration and size of checkpoints to something that does not grow linearly in the size of the state and (ii) how can we take checkpoints without blocking the processing pipeline in the meantime? We have implemented incremental checkpoints to solve the first problem by checkpointing only the changes between checkpoints, instead of always recording the whole state. Asynchronous checkpoints address the second problem and enable Flink to continue processing concurrently to running checkpoints. In this talk, we will take a deep dive into the details of Flink's new checkpointing features. In particular, we will talk about the underlying datastructures, log-structured merge trees and copy-on-write hash tables, and how those building blocks are assembled and orchestrated to advance Flink's checkpointing.
