Black is the darkest color, the result of the absence of or complete absorption of light. It is the opposite of white (the combined spectrum of color or light). It is an achromatic color, literally a color without color or hue. It is one of the four primary colors in the CMYK color model, along with cyan, yellow, and magenta, used in color printing to produce all the other colors.
Black was one of the first colors used by artists in neolithic cave paintings. In the 14th century, it began to be worn by royalty, the clergy, judges and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and a high fashion color in the 20th century.
In the Roman Empire, it became the color of mourning, and over the centuries it was frequently associated with death, evil, witches and magic. According to surveys in Europe and North America, it is the color most commonly associated with mourning, the end, secrets, magic, force, violence, evil, and elegance.
Anchorage (officially called the Municipality of Anchorage) is a unified home rule municipality in the U.S. State of Alaska. With an estimated 300,950 residents in 2013, it is Alaska's most populous city and contains more than 40 percent of the state's total population; among the 50 states, only New York has a higher percentage of residents who live in its most populous city. All together, the Anchorage metropolitan area, which combines Anchorage with the neighboring Matanuska-Susitna Borough, had a population of 396,142 in 2013.
Anchorage is located in the South-central portion of Alaska at the terminus of the Cook Inlet on a peninsula formed by the Knik Arm to the north and the Turnagain Arm to the south. The city limits span 1,961.1 square miles (5,079.2 km2) which encompass the urban core, a joint Military base, several outlying communities and almost all of Chugach State Park.
Anchorage’s location on the globe puts it within 9 1⁄2 hours by air to nearly 90% of the industrialized world. For this reason Anchorage is a common refueling stop for many international passenger flights and is home to a major FedEx Hub which the company calls a "critical part" of its global network of services.

Sometimes it can be extremely difficult to catch an eluding suspect… especially when they are wild, unpredictable and have four feet. This black bear went on a tour of downtown Anchorage last night and fortunately no one was hurt. Police would like to remind folks to keep as much distance as possible between yourself and wildlife during a rare encounter like this.

4/16/15 UPDATE: The Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game told community members at a meeting Thursday that the 5 bears will be euthanized out of concern for public safety. Relocation is not an option, they said. A family of 5 black bears made their way out of a spruce tree and in the Government Hill neighborhood. Because of the early Spring, lack of natural food sources has forced the sow and her 4 cubs to search for food in the Anchorage Neighborhood, according to officials with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Bears of the Last Frontier Part 2 - Nature Documentary - Documentary Films It’s finally here — time for us to share our incredible Alaskan adventure with the world through Bears of the Last Frontier. It has been quite the journey. The film has been nearly two years in the making, and for both of us it has become an unforgettable part of our lives. Over the course of a year and a half we traveled well over 3000 miles across Alaska and shot 500 hours of footage for this epic three-hour PBS Nature series. We spent many, many months in bear country – piecing together the lives of these fascinating animals by observing and filming them, and by living in bear country, among the animals and people that share bear habitat. When Joe and I met nearly ten years ago (coincidentally in Alaska) our mi...

Michelle Shocked Glastonbury Festival 19 & 21 June 1987 A tape given to me a long time ago by a good mate. I first got to see Michelle Shocked at the West End Centre in Aldershot that year, a tiny club where we sat around the stage in awe, all being aware of the Texas Campfire Tapes album. What a revelation she was. Got my T there, a shot of her head in purple. Wore it for years whenever I went running...eventually fell to bits. Saw her not long after at Dingwalls at Camden Lock. This recording is extracts from a couple of sets at Glastonbury that year. Michelle has a gift. Set 1: Black, Brown & White / Fogtown / Graffiti Limbo / He Was A Friend Of Mine / Hold Me Back (Frankie & Johnny) Set 2: Steppin’ Out / Fogtown / 5 a.m. In Amsterdam / The Hep Cat / Hold Me Back (Frankie & Johnny)...
Bears of the Last Frontier Episode 2 | The Road North Chris Morgan explores the world of black bears caught in the crossroads of urban development in Anchorage and the wilderness. This is a new normal for bears and for their human neighbors. Some bears are so comfortable living in urban surroundings that their primary habitat is a golf course. In residential areas, bears frequently raid garbage bins and birdfeeders for easy snacks. But these behaviors are less than ideal for bears and residents alike. Morgan heads north out of Anchorage to Denali National Park, where the mountains loom over treeless plains and bears get by on a diet of thousands of berries a day. The grizzlies share the enormous park with foxes, wolves and moose — and with one intrepid bear biologist and his team. Morgan ...
This video is the first video of the new series available at http://chesslecture.mybigcommerce.com/modern-themes-in-the-benoni-2-dvd-set Modern Themes in the Benoni" 2-DVD set By IM Bryan Smith Recommended for Intermediate Players The Modern Benoni was invented in 1927 by Frank Marshall at the New York Chess Tournament. Marshall played it twice, first for a draw against Capablanca, and again later losing to Aron Nimzowitch whom labeled the Modern Benoni an "unfortunate extravagance" in his annotations. In the 1950s interest in the system revived, as the King's Indian Defense gained in popularity among Soviet players and their investigations branched into related opening systems such as the Benoni. The imbalance inherent in the pawn structure of the Modern Benoni and the counter-chance...
