Cecil Rhodes prospects for diamond deposits in Matabeleland. Rhodes & his men ruthlessly asserts British control in the region. The British government where so proud of his achievements that they re-named Matabeleland in Rhodes honor to "Rhodesia" {modern day Zimbabwe). Cecil Rhodes then went on to become Prime Minister of South Africa. He was also the founder the company "De Beers" which today is now the biggest Diamond mining company in the world with the vast majority of the companies gems mined from the Southern Africa territories including modern day Zimbabwe & Botswana.

Professor Richard Drayton:
Rhodes Professor of Imperial History at King’s College London. Drayton’s inaugural lecture for the role focussed on the necessity of a post- and anti- imperial emancipatory direction to research, and the need to highlight hidden oppressions.
Professor William Beinart:
Former Professor of Race Relations at the University of Oxford African Studies Centre since 1997. Beinart’s research focuses on South Africa and the development of racism, highlighting the difficulty of reconciling antithetical memories. He recently published an A-level text book on South Africa, 1948-94 in the Searching for Rights and Freedoms.
Professor Nigel Biggar:
Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at Christ Church. His research interests include the moral vocation of universities and the ethics of nationalism and empire.
Sophia Cannon:
Social justice and political commentator barrister.
Audience members ultimately voted that the statue should be removed, with 245 ayes to 212 noes.

Neben Frankreich war es Großbritannien, das sich rege am Erwerb von Kolonien in Afrika beteiligte. Angetrieben wurde die britische Kolonialpolitik vom Kap-Kairo-Plan von Cecil Rhodes. Auch wenn dieser Plan letztlich nicht in Gänze umgesetzt werden konnte, sollte er dennoch zu großen Teilen erfüllt werden.

Na verdade, tem suas raízes em ideias e influências que até então não estavam manifestas, permaneciam "secretas". Mas todas essas ideias têm um traço em comum. Remontam às seitas heréticas - gnóstica, templária, cátara e rosacruciana - e a organizações secretas como o misterioso Priorado de Sião. Sua influência impulsionou a Revolução Protestante que, por sua vez, forneceu os fundamentos ideológicos para as revoluções inglesa, norte-americana, francesa e russa. As facções no interior da Maçonaria e de famílias como os Rothschilds tiveram participação importante nesses levantes. Somaram-se a uma maré de revoluções mundiais que está chegando ao nível máximo em nossos tempos, como Hagger mostra em seu livro A Corporação - A História Secreta do SécuLo XX e o Início do Governo Mundial do Futuro, também publicado pela Editora Cultrix.

Cecil Rhodes
Cecil John Rhodes PC (5 July 1853 – 26 March 1902) was a British businessman, mining magnate and politician in South Africa, who served as Prime Minister of the Cape Colony from 1890 to 1896. An ardent believer in British imperialism, Rhodes and his British South Africa Company founded the southern African territory of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe and Zambia), which the company named after him in 1895. South Africa's Rhodes University is also named after him. Rhodes set up the provisions of the Rhodes Scholarship, which is funded by his estate, and put much effort towards his vision of a Cape to Cairo Railway through British territory.
The son of a vicar, Rhodes grew up in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, and was a sickly child. He was sent to South Africa by his family when he was 17 years old in the hope that the climate might improve his health. He entered the diamond trade at Kimberley in 1871, when he was 18, and over the next two decades gained near-complete domination of the world diamond market. His De Beers diamond company, formed in 1888, retains its prominence into the 21st century. Rhodes entered the Сape Parliament in 1880, and a decade later became Prime Minister. After overseeing the formation of Rhodesia during the early 1890s, he was forced to resign as Prime Minister in 1896 after the disastrous Jameson Raid, an unauthorised attack on Paul Kruger's South African Republic (or Transvaal). After Rhodes's death in 1902, at the age of 48, he was buried in the Matopos Hills in what is now Zimbabwe.

Rhodes
Rhodes (Greek: Ρόδος, Ródos [ˈroðos]) is the largest of the Dodecanese islands in terms of land area and also the island group's historical capital. Administratively the island forms a separate municipality within the Rhodes regional unit, which is part of the South Aegean region. The principal town of the island and seat of the municipality is Rhodes. The city of Rhodes had 50,636 inhabitants in 2011. It is located northeast of Crete, southeast of Athens and just off the Anatolian coast of Turkey. Rhodes' nickname is The island of the Knights, named after the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, who once conquered the land.
Historically, Rhodes was famous worldwide for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Medieval Old Town of the City of Rhodes has been declared a World Heritage Site. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.
Name
The island has been known as Ρόδος in Greek throughout its history. In addition, the island has been called Italian: Rodi, Turkish: Rodos, and Ladino: Rodi or Rodes.

Oxford Union
The Oxford Union Society, commonly referred to simply as the Oxford Union, is a debating society in the city of Oxford, England, whose membership is drawn primarily from the University of Oxford. Founded in 1823, it is Britain's third oldest University Union (after the University of St Andrews Union Debating Society and Cambridge Union Society), and has trained politicians from Britain and other countries.
Status and membership
The Oxford Union is an unincorporated association, holding its property in trust in favour of its objectives and members, and governed by its rules (which form a multi-partite contract between the members).
Since its foundation, it has been independent of the University: historically, this was because the Victorian University restricted junior members from discussing certain issues (for example, theology). Despite such restrictions since being lifted, it has remained entirely separate from the University, and is constitutionally bound to remain so.
Only members of Oxford University are eligible to become life members of the Union, but students at certain other educational institutions are entitled to join for the duration of their time in Oxford. These institutions are:

He recently published an A-level text book on South Africa, 1948-94 in the Searching for Rights and Freedoms.
Professor Nigel Biggar:
Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at Christ Church. His research interests include the moral vocation of universities and the ethics of nationalism and empire.
Sophia Cannon:
Social justice and political commentator barrister.
Audience members ultimately voted that the statue should be removed, with 245 ayes to 212 noes.

During the late 1960’s Jazz music was undergoing a major metamorphosis. Miles Davis was musically in transition and went from the traditional acoustic quartet to a more funky electronic sound. Out went the stand-up bass and came the electronic bass. Out with the standard piano and came the Fender Rhodes. Many musicians in what would be hailed as Fusion jazz phase, took rock, soul, and other free form elements and centered it with an electronic base. Musicians like Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, Les McCann, Herbie Hancock, and Stevie Wonder used the Fender Rhodes as not a replacement to the standard piano, but as a means to create and experimental sound to evolve with the new music that took the world by storm.
Pianist and keyboardist Lonnie Liston Smith is a pioneer in the fusion jazz/funk whelm, in that he came out of the gospel and mainstream jazz tradition and created his own flair of music that many musicians from Guru to Jamiroquai to Masters at Work have emulated in soul, hip-hop, and Latin music. Lonnie’s group “The Cosmic Echoes” music is still being sampled by hip-hop and R & B artists as well still played in dance clubs all over the world.
Lonnie Liston Smith, Jr. was born on December 28, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia. Music was always part of Lonnie’s life. His father, Lonnie Liston Smith, was one of the founding members of The Harmonizing Four, which were one of many pioneering gospel groups during the 1930’s to 1950’s. As a child he was exposed to many of the gospel music greats like The Soul Stirrers featuring vocalist Sam Cooke and The Swan Silvertones. Lonnie’s father bought a piano and taught anyone who wanted to learn. He was bitten by the music bug at an early age and by the time he graduated from high school, Lonnie had become an accomplished pianist as well as trumpet and tuba player.
Upon graduating from Morgan State University in the early 1960’s he moved to New York City where he eventually graduated from school of jazz. Playing and backing the likes of Art Blakey, Roland Kirk, Pharaoh Sanders, Gato Barbieri, Betty Carter, Max Roach, Abbey Lincoln, and Miles Davis.
It was during the early 1970’s that Lonnie was introduced to the Fender Rhodes electric piano. While recording saxophonist Pharaoh Sander’s “Thembi” recording on Impulse Records, that he played the instrument for the first time. In fact, he wrote “Astral Traveling” in the first 10 minutes that he first tinkered with the Rhodes. Sanders loved the song and recorded it that afternoon. It was also during his recording with Pharaoh that he became friends with legendary record producer Bob Thiele, founder of Flying Dutchman Records. Thiele, whose legendary work includes producing the late Buddy Holly and all of John Coltrane’s sessions while at Impulse Records, extended the offer for Lonnie to record his first record.
In 1973 Lonnie formed The Cosmic Echoes and would record music and a sound that was different during the 1970’s. His first band consisted of bassist Cecil McBee, percussionist James Mtume, guitarist Joe Beck, saxophonist George Barron, and drummer David Lee, Jr. Lonnie’s debut recording “Astral Traveling” came out to rave reviews. This was also the same time that Lonnie was touring with trumpeter Miles Davis who had just recorded and released “On The Corner” and “Big Fun.” For almost 14 years The Cosmic Echos recorded fourteen records which included “Expansions,” “Cosmic Funk,” and “Loveland.”
During the mid-1980’s into the mid-1990’s Lonnie recorded many trio jazz recordings as well as paired up with the late rapper Guru for his landmark Jazzmatazz recording. Over the years Lonnie’s music has been sampled and rediscovered by a new legion of R & B and Hip-Hop artists. Some of them include: Young Jeezy, O.C., Jay-Z, Digable Planets, Mary J. Blige, and Nikki Jean.

Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at Christ Church. His research interests include the moral vocation of universities and the ethics of nationalism and empire.

Social justice and political commentator barrister.
Audience members ultimately voted that the statue should be removed, with 245 ayes to 212 noes.

Auch wenn dieser Plan letztlich nicht in Gänze umgesetzt werden konnte, sollte er dennoch zu großen Teilen erfüllt werden.

Ao contrário do que se acredita, a civilização ocidental como a conhecemos hoje não é o resultado final de um progresso constante. Por mais de meio milênio, as revoluções se sucedem como uma sucessão de marés.
Num primeiro nível, este livro é uma narrativa cronológica dessas revoluções, da Renascença à Revolução Russa. Mostra como visões utópicas de sociedades ideais acabam em massacres e na guilhotina, desafiando assim tanto a esquerda quanto a direita.
Num segundo nível, oferece uma teoria nova e original sobre por que as revoluções ocorrem. Um idealista tem uma visão que outros expressam em termos intelectuais. Essa visão é corrompida por um regime político, resultando em repressão física.
A abordagem de A História Secreta do Ocidente é singular porque essa visão nunca fez parte do pensamento e da prática do Sistema. Na verdade, tem suas raízes em ideias e influências que até então não estavam manifestas, permaneciam "secretas". Mas todas essas ideias têm um traço em comum. Remontam às seitas heréticas - gnóstica, templária, cátara e rosacruciana - e a organizações secretas como o misterioso Priorado de Sião. Sua influência impulsionou a Revolução Protestante que, por sua vez, forneceu os fundamentos ideológicos para as revoluções inglesa, norte-americana, francesa e russa. As facções no interior da Maçonaria e de famílias como os Rothschilds tiveram participação importante nesses levantes. Somaram-se a uma maré de revoluções mundiais que está chegando ao nível máximo em nossos tempos, como Hagger mostra em seu livro A Corporação - A História Secreta do SécuLo XX e o Início do Governo Mundial do Futuro, também publicado pela Editora Cultrix.
