Garbage truck dumps load after fire

Firefighters were called to Annerley in Brisbane's south about 11.05am on Thursday to see the burning pile covering most of the street.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters arrived at the Avondale Avenue blaze about 10 minutes later and had managed to bring the it under control.
He said the load caught fire and the truck driver was forced to dump the rubbish onto the street.
Nearby resident Sarah Holtam said she saw smoke coming from the back of the truck shortly before the driver dumped the load and tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher.
But the flames, extending a metre above the large pile of recycling, were too strong and he had to call firefighters.
Even then, Ms Holtam said they were still spraying down the fire more than half an hour after they arrived.
"The smell was quite bad," she said.
"It was not really pungent but that sort of toxic smell."
Ms Holtam said she thought there may have been embers or something else flammable put in a recycling bin.
The RACQ warned residents not to dispose of embers in their bins.
