It's all well and good when your baby is lulled to sleep while you're driving, but it sure does nothing for your own sleep deprivation.
But what if you could replicate the comfort of a road trip at home, with the added bonus that you can get some shut-eye too?
Ford made only one of its concept Max Motor Dreams cot, but now the company is seriously considering putting it into production. Simulating the sights and sounds of a road trip with mellow LED street-lamp lighting, engine sounds and soft movement, parents can also map familiar routes using the accompanying app, which can then be programmed into the cot for that evening. Now the trip to the shopping centre that's guaranteed to send them to la-la land can be re-created at home.
Ford Spain is using the cot to propel its latest marketing campaign for the new Ford Max range of cars, and those who test drive the vehicle are in with a chance to win the crib. It sure is a novel way to appeal to the family market.
Designer Alejandro López Bravo says, "After many years of talking to mums and dads, we know that parents of newborns are often desperate for just one good night's sleep. But while a quick drive in the family car can work wonders in getting baby off to sleep, the poor old parents still have to be awake and alert at the wheel."
While many parents know this pain all too well, getting out of the house will still be essential even with this amazing crib at home.
