Our Work
Oxfam understands that many causes of poverty are linked, and uses many tactics to fight poverty and inequality.
When crisis strikes we respond with life-saving support, and help people to rebuild their livelihoods.
Day in and day out we work with our community partners to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive – often by exercising their basic rights as women and men.
And from local communities to the global stage, we call for fairness and justice so that people in poverty can influence the decisions that affect them.
Extreme inequality is not inevitable, and there are practical ways to close the gap.
All life depends on the planet’s natural resources. But we are using these up 50% faster than the Earth can renew them.
We are building a global citizenship movement capable of demanding justice from governments and companies.
When conflict and disaster strike, we deliver high quality humanitarian aid, speedily and extensively. We also work with governments, local organizations and communities so that they are ready to respond in emergencies, and able to cope when crisis hits.
We want a fairer and more sustainable global food system so that everyone has enough to eat, always.
Women’s leadership is a fundamental part of our work, and why we put women’s rights at the heart of everything we do.
