Bryce Canyon National Park /ˈbraɪs/ is a National Park located in southwestern Utah in the United States. The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon, which despite its name, is not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views for park visitors. Bryce sits at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet (2,400 to 2,700 m).
The Bryce Canyon area was settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and was named after Ebenezer Bryce, who homesteaded in the area in 1874. The area around Bryce Canyon became a National Monument in 1923 and was designated as a National Park in 1928. The park covers 35,835 acres (55.992 sq mi; 14,502 ha; 145.02 km2) and receives relatively few visitors compared to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon, largely due to its remote location.
A national park is a park in use for conservation purposes. Often it is a reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns. Although individual nations designate their own national parks differently, there is a common idea: the conservation of 'wild nature' for posterity and as a symbol of national pride. An international organization, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and its World Commission on Protected Areas, has defined "National Park" as its Category II type of protected areas.
While this type of national park had been proposed previously, the United States established the first "public park or pleasuring-ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people", Yellowstone National Park, in 1872. Although Yellowstone was not officially termed a "national park" in its establishing law, it was always termed such in practice and is widely held to be the first and oldest national park in the world. The first area to use "national park" in its creation legislation was the US's Mackinac Island, in 1875. Australia's Royal National Park, established in 1879, was the world's third official national park. In 1895 ownership of Mackinac Island was transferred to the State of Michigan as a state park and national park status was consequently lost. As a result, Australia's Royal National Park is by some considerations the second oldest national park now in existence.

A gorge or canyon (cañon, old spelling occasionally still used) is a deep ravine between pairs of escarpments or cliffs and is the most often carved landscape by the erosive activity of a river over geologic timescales. Rivers have a natural tendency to cut through underlying surfaces so will eventually wear away rock layers to lessen their own pitch slowing their waters; given enough time, their bottoms will gradually reach a baseline elevation—which is the same elevation as the body of water it will eventually drain into. This action, when the river source and mouth are at much different base elevations will form a canyon, particularly through regions where softer rock layers are intermingled with harder layers more resistant to weathering.
A canyon may also refer to a rift between two mountain peaks, such as those in ranges including the Rocky Mountains, the Alps, the Himalayas or the Andes. Usually a river or stream and erosion carve out such splits between mountains. Examples of mountain-type canyons are Provo Canyon in Utah or Yosemite National Park in California's Sierra Nevada. Canyons within mountains, or gorges that have an opening on only one side are called box canyons. Slot canyons are very narrow canyons, often with smooth walls.

The Navajo Trail/Queens Garden loop trail in Bryce Canyon National Park is a trail no lover of Wild Spaces should miss. The National Park Service is so sure of the quality of this hike, that they've posted a sign at the beginning of the Queen's Garden portion of the loop which names this trail as "The Best Three Mile Hike in the World". We've not found a better one. This world famous hike is actually made up of a portion of the Queen's Garden Trail and a section of the Navajo loop trail. Either hike is itself well worth your time, but combining the two is an amazing hiking experience. For those of you how are interested in the Paiute legend of Bryce Canyon's hoodoos make sure to check out the sites listed at the bottom of this description. The Navajo Loop Trail descends from Sunset Point through the slot canyon of Wall Street, where 500 to 700-year-old Douglas Firs reach upward toward the sunlight at the top of the canyon. The Navajo Loop is the most popular trail in the park, and is often combined with the Queen's Garden Trail to form a longer loop that passes through the Queen's Garden and emerges onto the rim at Sunrise Point. From here two very scenic and easy strolls can be taken as part of the Rim Trail. A ½-mile walk to the north on a wheelchair accessible trail which takes you to Sunset Point. Walking ¾ of a mile to the south across gently rolling terrain, you arrive at Inspiration Point. My exact route: Start at Sunset Point - known as Queens Garden Trail Quick stop at Queen Victoria Continue Queens Garden Trail to...

Create your own video on http://studio.stupeflix.com/?w=1 ! Bryce Canyon National Park. 'Bryce Canyon', seen here from Bryce Point, is a giant natural amphitheater. Ebenezer Bryce, the "discoverer" of the canyon is said to have described it as "a helluva place to lose a cow.". Bryce Canyon follows a meandering course, oriented roughly north-south. Petroglyphs in Bryce Canyon indicate the presence of people in the area several thousand years ago, but little is known about them. Ebenezer Bryce and his family lived in Bryce Canyon, in this cabin, here photographed circa 1881. Bryce Amphitheater and the nearby forest form a spectacular view. Bryce Canyon Lodge was built between 1924 and 1925 from local materials. In 1928 the canyon became a National Park. It now has this visitors' center. Eros...
Travel video about destination Bryce Canyon in the United States of America. Fantastic natural rock columns rise upward like towering cathedrals that convey the feeling of eternity and the majestic power of Nature.
Travel video about nature park Bryce Canyon in the USA. In the south of the US federal state of UTAH, there’s a destination that attracts nature lovers from all over the world: Bryce Canyon National Park, 145 square kilometres of pure nature. Millions of years ago, due to extreme subterranean pressure, the Earth’s surface cracked and a landscape was created that is without equal, a gigantic amphitheatre of red stone scattered with a thousand rock needles that tower toward the sky. Typical of Bryce, the canyon’s fantastic and bizarre „hoodoos“ were created by natural erosion and rise ever upward like towering cathedrals and great skyscrapers, conveying a sense of eternity. The highest point of the park reaches a height of over 2000 metres and contains pines and juniper trees whereas, lower ...
Travel video about destination Bryce Canyon in The USA. The sight of the magnificent rock formations of Bryce Canyon to the southwest of Utah in the United States is a truly breathtaking experience. Those who first set foot in the canyon such as the Mormon, Ebenezer Bryce, were overwhelmed by the vast canyon and its bizarre scenery. With a degree of understatement and struck by the awesome dimensions of the canyon Bryce declared that it was, “A hell of a place to lose a cow!” Bryce is one of the greatest natural wonders in the United States as well as being one of the most popular tourist attractions in the State of Utah. Strictly speaking Bryce is not really a canyon as its fourteen huge natural amphitheatres were not created by the flow of a mighty river but were originally part of a sin...
Video of my day trip to Bryce Canyon with my mom and sister on Earth Day 2016. My sister was out visiting from California. My mom has been having a lot of health problems over the last year and a half. She is supposed to have surgery to cure her brain aneurysm, so my sister came out to see her. I decided to take them both to see Bryce Canyon National Park down in Southern Utah. Bryce Canyon is one of the best places to hike in Utah. It is so scenic and beautiful! It was a 4 hour drive one way. It was a day road trip and a quick 3 hour visit to the rim of the canyon. It was a long day, but totally worth it! My mom had been before and so had I, but it was my sister's first time to Bryce Canyon. She was in awe! The views from the rim of the canyon are just stunning. We started at Sunset poin...
