An unlicensed teenage driver has been charged by police after crashing a car into a Thornlie house on Monday night.
A police spokesman said the incident on Sheldwich Street occurred around 6.30pm - just minutes after a police patrol car spotted the 19-year-old male driving.
Nine News Perth reported the teenager was on bail for driving offences and had a suspended licence.
"He's come along Sheldwich Street in Thornlie and just gone through the garden here and smashed into the front of the home damaging the wall and the roof," reporter Lee Steele said.
"We understand someone was home at the time but no one was injured.
"The home owner was out the back... it was the driver who knocked on the door to tell him what had happened."
The teenager, who claimed he swerved to avoid hitting a dog, has been charged with no authority to drive and careless driving.
He will appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on May 12.
The Thornlie house is insured.
