About the Mediatheque
ACMI and the National Film and Sound Archive join forces to present a huge collection of accessible audio and video content.
From early footage of the Melbourne Cup and the landmark The Story of the Kelly Gang to award-winning animation and shorts, you can access moving image content for research, learning and entertainment.
The space contains 12 viewing booths. Each booth is fitted with up to four headsets, so you can choose to watch alone or with friends.
You can view a huge range of national and international content, including:
- On-demand digital films
- Highlights from over 100 years of Australian and international film
- Australian television programs
- Video artworks
- Student and community-made short films
- Film stills and publicity materials
Location
The Mediatheque is located next to the ACMI Shop on the Federation Square Level of ACMI and is open to everyone.

NB. Proof of age may be required, as only age-appropriate material is made available to younger users.
