The team from our Native Title, Land and Water unit attended the Aboriginal Fishing Rights Gathering in Bingie on the NSW south coast last month. The team was invited to discuss a possible NSW case study for a research project that will map the livelihood values of Indigenous customary fishing.

The gathering were interested in learning how the research outcomes will support their broader objectives of developing strategies to promote local Aboriginal community members’ rights and interests as cultural fishers.

Uluru
Uluru handback

We're working on a special project sponsored by the Indigenous Land Corporation and in partnership with Parks Australia for the 30th Anniversary of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park handback celebrations on 25-26 October.

Some of our staff were lucky enough to travel to Mutitjulu and sit, talk and record some of the stories of the Elders and traditional owners as they viewed photos from our Collections, of themselves, loved ones, grandparents, parents and brothers and sisters from 30 years ago.

See photos from the visit on Facebook.
