Gary C.

Manager, Accounting Program Office

I spent years working in the music industry, both on and off stage, which I loved, because it created a very special type of high energy, and high fun environment.  Nowhere else came close to that level of energy until I arrived at Amazon, which because of our strong music and entertainment business allowed me to stay close to the industry that I love.  I am currently a manager in the accounting program office where, we are responsible for launching new products in the digital world.  Amazon is full of high energy people who really want to get new products out the door, I feel immense pride when I look on the Amazon home page and see a new product announcement that I have just spent three months helping to bring to market.

My first career was that of a ‘Professional Musician’, which reached its zenith with a TV appearance alongside possibly the UK’s worst Elvis tribute act. Shortly afterwards, having come to terms with my undeniable lack of talent, I called time on my musical ambitions and chose instead to take the logical step into the world of accountancy. The traditional series of accountancy and consulting roles followed before I grew tired of the high life of airport lounges and hotel bars, and returned to music managing financial systems for EMI Music (Capitol Records).  Then in 2013 the opportunity arose to work for Amazon and move to Seattle, home of Jimi Hendrix and Grunge.

That said, I’m still waiting for a call from Springsteen’s agent telling me the E Street Band is short a bass player for the next tour…

we pioneer

We're a company of pioneers. It's our job to make bold bets, and we get our energy from inventing on behalf of customers. Success is measured against the possible, not the probable. For today’s pioneers, that’s exactly why there’s no place on Earth they’d rather build than Amazon.
