Attention! This experiment should be done in well ventilated area or in a fume hood!
Hello everyone. Today, we will conduct a very interesting experiment, which is called making a rayon or an artificial silk production.
We will need a basic copper carbonate for this experiment.
The substance forms by copper sulfate and baking soda by reacting with each other.
Take a beaker and pour into it about 4 grams of basic copper carbonate.
Copper carbonate has greenish tint.
Next, we need a concentrated solution of ammonia. Here I have approximately 40 ml of 25% ammonia solution.
Now I will pour this ammonia solution to the copper carbonate.
This forms a complex compound of copper, which has a bright blue color.
However, copper carbonate doesn't entirely react with ammonia and a little residue remains at the bottom of the cup.
Let's pour the liquid into the other beaker for the solution to become clear.
Now we have a copper compound complex, which has very interesting properties.
This solution can dissolve cotton wool.
To do this, I'm taking about a gram of the cotton wool and begin to add it slowly to the copper complex solution.
The wool is highly soluble and forms so-called viscose, which is the raw material for the production of artificial silk.
After the wool has been dissolved, the liquid, which was in the cup, has become quite thick.
To obtain the artificial silk, prepare one molar solution of a sulfuric acid.
Next, we fill the syringe with a few ml of viscose, fit the needle and slowly inject a stream of viscose into the acid solution.
At the same time we can observe an interesting effect.
When viscose contacts with sulfuric acid, the cellulose from the solution begins to polymerize.
Sulfuric acid reacts with complex compound of copper and dissolves it.
Thin blue fibers of rayon are formed.
After some time, sulfuric acid reacts with the complex compound and washes out the copper salts from the fibers. Fibers become colorless.
After that, our fibers are bleached and now we can find out how they feel.
To the touch, the fibers are very soft and they easily tear. This is due to the fact, that I used a too thick needle.
Now I pour the rest of the viscose into the sulfuric acid solution.
Something similar to vermicelli but with a blue color is formed. These fibers will also become colorless within time, but they will be less durable than a fiber extruded through the needle.

Rayon
Rayon is a manufactured regenerated cellulose fiber. It is made from purified cellulose, primarily from wood pulp, which is chemically converted into a soluble compound. It is then dissolved and forced through a spinneret to produce filaments which are chemically solidified, resulting in synthetic fibers of nearly pure cellulose. Because rayon is manufactured from naturally occurring polymers, it is considered a semi-synthetic fiber. Specific types of rayon include viscose, modal and lyocell, each of which differs in manufacturing process and properties of the finished product.
History
Nitrocellulose
The solubility of nitrocellulose in organic solvents such as ether and acetone was the basis for the first "artificial silk" by Georges Audemars in about 1855. Commercial production started in 1891, but the result was flammable and more expensive than cellulose acetate or cuprammonium rayon. Because of this expense, production ceased early in the 1900s. Nitrocellulose was briefly known as "mother-in-law silk".Frank Hastings Griffin invented the double-godet, a special stretch-spinning process that changed artificial silk to rayon, rendering it usable in many industrial products such as tire cords and clothing. Nathan Rosenstein invented the "spunize process" by which he turned rayon from a hard fiber to a fabric. This allowed rayon to become a popular raw material in textiles.

Rayon Sports F.C.
Rayon Sports Football Club is an association football club based in Nyanza, Rwanda. The team currently competes in the Rwanda National Football League, and plays its home games at the Stade Amahoro in Kigali but it makes its everyday life in southern province in Nyanza District.
History
The club was founded in May 1968 in Nyanza, but moved to the nation's capital, Kigali, in 1986 before moving back in 2012 following an agreement with the Nyanza District authorities. In 2012, the club also absorbed Nyanza Football Club, which was relegated from the Rwanda National Football League after the 2011–12 season.

Plot: Dallas 1985. Electrician and sometimes rodeo bull rider Ron Woodroof lives hard, which includes heavy smoking, drinking, drug use (primarily cocaine) and casual sex. While in the hospital on a work related injury, the doctors discover and inform him that he is HIV+, and that he will most-likely die within thirty days. Ron is initially in angry denial that he would have a disease that only "faggots" have, but upon quick reflection comes to the realization that the diagnosis is probably true. He begins to read whatever research is available about the disease, which at this time seems to be most effectively treated by the drug AZT. AZT, however, is only in the clinical trials stage within the US. Incredulous that he, as a dying man, cannot pay for any drug which may save or at least prolong his life, he goes searching for it by whatever means possible. It eventually leads him to Mexico and a "Dr." Vass, an American physician whose license was revoked in the US because of his AIDS related work against US regulations. Dr. Vass leads Ron to a cocktail of other drugs, some vitamins, he believes are more effective in treating the symptoms, since the virus, as Ron learns, will always be in the system of those who have been exposed to it. Ron begins to smuggle these drugs not approved by the FDA into the US, not only for his own use but for sale to other HIV+ persons. In this venture, he goes into an unlikely partnership with a HIV+ transvestite named Rayon, who he met in the hospital and who has greater contact with AIDS patients through the gay community. As they try to work both above ground to get the meds to those that need them and underground to avoid detection by especially the FDA, Ron comes up with an idea to circumvent the fact of selling the drugs - which are not considered drugs yet since they are not FDA approved - directly to the HIV+ population, which then should should not be against the law. Richard Barkley and Dr. Sevard, the FDA's lead man on the file and one of Ron's doctors respectively, the latter who sees clinical trials as the only way to determine the efficacy of drugs despite the fact that Ron and others would have probably died already without these drugs, try to stop Ron and Rayon at every turn. Caught in the middle is Dr. Eve Saks, another of Ron's doctors, who understands why policies are place, but who can sympathize with Ron, Rayon and others - all her patients, directly or indirectly - in their situation.

Hello everyone. Today, we will conduct a very interesting experiment, which is called making a rayon or an artificial silk production.
We will need a basic copper carbonate for this experiment.
The substance forms by copper sulfate and baking soda by reacting with each other.
Take a beaker and pour into it about 4 grams of basic copper carbonate.
Copper carbonate has greenish tint.
Next, we need a concentrated solution of ammonia. Here I have approximately 40 ml of 25% ammonia solution.
Now I will pour this ammonia solution to the copper carbonate.
This forms a complex compound of copper, which has a bright blue color.
However, copper carbonate doesn't entirely react with ammonia and a little residue remains at the bottom of the cup.
Let's pour the liquid into the other beaker for the solution to become clear.
Now we have a copper compound complex, which has very interesting properties.
This solution can dissolve cotton wool.
To do this, I'm taking about a gram of the cotton wool and begin to add it slowly to the copper complex solution.
The wool is highly soluble and forms so-called viscose, which is the raw material for the production of artificial silk.
After the wool has been dissolved, the liquid, which was in the cup, has become quite thick.
To obtain the artificial silk, prepare one molar solution of a sulfuric acid.
Next, we fill the syringe with a few ml of viscose, fit the needle and slowly inject a stream of viscose into the acid solution.
At the same time we can observe an interesting effect.
When viscose contacts with sulfuric acid, the cellulose from the solution begins to polymerize.
Sulfuric acid reacts with complex compound of copper and dissolves it.
Thin blue fibers of rayon are formed.
After some time, sulfuric acid reacts with the complex compound and washes out the copper salts from the fibers. Fibers become colorless.
After that, our fibers are bleached and now we can find out how they feel.
To the touch, the fibers are very soft and they easily tear. This is due to the fact, that I used a too thick needle.
Now I pour the rest of the viscose into the sulfuric acid solution.
Something similar to vermicelli but with a blue color is formed. These fibers will also become colorless within time, but they will be less durable than a fiber extruded through the needle.
