THINGS TO KNOW:
April is 15 - her 4th calf
April has never lost a calf nor had a stillborn
Oliver is 5 - his 1st calf
They have some of the largest indoor stalls in the nation (sq ft per animal). We take pride in our indoor housing and the level of enrichment and care to keep them happy and healthy. Unsafe weather and yard conditions may limit their yard access.
The calf will weigh around 150lb and will be about 6' tall at birth.
The front hooves will come out first followed by the snout.
Mom will naturally raise the calf, with weaning could take between 6-10 months, maybe longer. We will not rush this process – it is just a documented range of captive weaning.
Once the calf is born, we will have a contest to name it.
The keepers will go in with April, clean her pen, give her treats (but not Oliver). He is a bull - and a bull is a bull is a bull!
Giraffes are pregnant for 15 months on average
Upon naturally weaning, the calf will move on to another facility to start a breeding program there. We cannot retain offspring, as it would lead to incestuous mating and undermine the genetics of the program and species.
Those "things" on their heads are called ossicones.
Bulls (male giraffes) only really care about two things- fighting and the unmentionable....
Oliver may share space with April, but for short periods. Bulls take no part in rearing young.
They eat hay and specialized giraffe diet but love romaine lettuce and carrot treats.
April's water source, enrichment, and solo hay feeder are out of sight of the camera view.
This is Animal Adventure's first giraffe calf.

Over 1.5 million just watched live video of April the Giraffe giving birth. Animal Adventure Park in New York livestreamed the birth to draw attention to the drop in giraffe numbers - 40% in 30 years - that has led to giraffes now being listed as vulnerable to extinction’ on the IUCN Red List.
It worked. April is now a global celebrity, and it goes to show the power of live video and social media. Social media has its critics who say it can distract us from real life. But it can also remind us of what's most important.

"Giraffe Mom" Erin Dietrich has met her match. The South Carolina woman visited April the giraffe and her new offspring, and Inside Edition was there to witness the meeting. Erin brought along her new addition, son Porter, who was born March 8. She had garnered her own online fan club when she recorded her pregnant self, wearing a $16 giraffe head in a parody of April's live-streamed and long-delayed birth. April delivered a 129-pound calf this weekend.

For months the world has been watching and waiting for a giraffe called April to give birth to her calf.
And it seems that day has finally arrived.
Animal Adventure Park in New York, where April lives with her mate, Oliver, have this afternoon shared a video of the baby giraffe's hooves emerging from its mother's birth canal.
This means labour has officially started and it's only a matter of time before the calf is welcomed into the world.
There has never been more excitement over the birth of a giraffe and April's fans have been waiting for months to hear news of the arrival.

Giraffe
The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. Its species name refers to its camel-like shape and its leopard-like colouring. Males establish social hierarchies through "necking", which are combat bouts where the neck is used as a weapon. Festival

Adventure park
An adventure park is a place which can contain a wide variety of elements, such as rope climbing exercises, obstacle courses and zip-lines. They are usually intended for recreation.
"Recreational-oriented" adventure parks are usually designed for a larger volume of visitors. They do not follow a specific educational concept, but see the individual, physical and mental challenge as a predominantly recreational activity. Neither climbing techniques nor special/specific physical fitness experience are necessary. Typical slogans are: Have Fun, Test your Courage, Overcome your Own Fears, Be Outside, Be in the Nature, Do some Physical Activities, etc.
History
It is unclear where and when the first ropes course was created. A first ropes course was built in 1875 in France and functioned mainly as a physical challenge activity for the participants. During the Second World War, ropes courses were used as obstacle courses for improving the physical fitness of the British military.
In the mid-1960s, ropes courses became a central component of outdoor seminars in the United States.

An installation which through ultra-high-resolution video and interactive interface, reproduces the throng of activity once permeating a huge shared studio complex that closed in 2014. In order to realistically captre event taking place in each studio, the camera recorded from above, generating huge synthesized moving image. "Giraffe Mom" Erin Dietrich has met her match. The South Carolina woman visited April the giraffe and her new offspring, and Inside Edition was there to witness the meeting. Erin brought along her new addition, son Porter, who was born March 8. THINGS TO KNOW:
April is 15 - her 4th calf
April has never lost a calf nor had a stillborn
Oliver is 5 - his 1st calf
They have some of the largest indoor stalls in the nation (sq ft per animal). We take pride in our indoor housing and the level of enrichment and care to keep them happy and healthy. Unsafe weather and yard conditions may limit their yard access.
The calf will weigh around 150lb and will be about 6' tall at birth.
The front hooves will come out first followed by the snout.
Mom will naturally raise the calf, with weaning could take between 6-10 months, maybe longer. We will not rush this process – it is just a documented range of captive weaning.
Once the calf is born, we will have a contest to name it.
The keepers will go in with April, clean her pen, give her treats (but not Oliver). He is a bull - and a bull is a bull is a bull!
Giraffes are pregnant for 15 months on average
Upon naturally weaning, the calf will move on to another facility to start a breeding program there. We cannot retain offspring, as it would lead to incestuous mating and undermine the genetics of the program and species.
Those "things" on their heads are called ossicones.
Bulls (male giraffes) only really care about two things- fighting and the unmentionable....
Oliver may share space with April, but for short periods. Bulls take no part in rearing young.
They eat hay and specialized giraffe diet but love romaine lettuce and carrot treats.
April's water source, enrichment, and solo hay feeder are out of sight of the camera view.

THINGS TO KNOW:
April is 15 - her 4th calf
April has never lost a calf nor had a stillborn
Oliver is 5 - his 1st calf
They have some of the largest indoor stalls in the nation (sq ft per animal). We take pride in our indoor housing and the level of enrichment and care to keep them happy and healthy. Unsafe weather and yard conditions may limit their yard access.
The calf will weigh around 150lb and will be about 6' tall at birth.
The front hooves will come out first followed by the snout.
Mom will naturally raise the calf, with weaning could take between 6-10 months, maybe longer. We will not rush this process – it is just a documented range of captive weaning.
Once the calf is born, we will have a contest to name it.
The keepers will go in with April, clean her pen, give her treats (but not Oliver). He is a bull - and a bull is a bull is a bull!
Giraffes are pregnant for 15 months on average
Upon naturally weaning, the calf will move on to another facility to start a breeding program there. We cannot retain offspring, as it would lead to incestuous mating and undermine the genetics of the program and species.
Those "things" on their heads are called ossicones.
Bulls (male giraffes) only really care about two things- fighting and the unmentionable....
Oliver may share space with April, but for short periods. Bulls take no part in rearing young.
They eat hay and specialized giraffe diet but love romaine lettuce and carrot treats.
April's water source, enrichment, and solo hay feeder are out of sight of the camera view.
This is Animal Adventure's first giraffe calf.

An installation which through ultra-high-resolution video and interactive interface, reproduces the throng of activity once permeating a huge shared studio complex that closed in 2014. In order to realistically captre event taking place in each studio, the camera recorded from above, generating huge synthesized moving image. By touching the location you want to see on screen, it is possible to observe the daily routune of artists of 50 studios.

An installation which through ultra-high-resolution video and interactive interface, reproduces the throng of activity once permeating a huge shared studio complex that closed in 2014. In order to realistically captre event taking place in each studio, the camera recorded from above, generating huge synthesized moving image. By touching the location you want to see on screen, it is possible to observe the daily routune of artists of 50 studios.

"Giraffe Mom" Erin Dietrich has met her match. The South Carolina woman visited April the giraffe and her new offspring, and Inside Edition was there to witness the meeting. Erin brought along her new addition, son Porter, who was born March 8. She had garnered her own online fan club when she recorded her pregnant self, wearing a $16 giraffe head in a parody of April's live-streamed and long-delayed birth. For months the world has been watching and waiting for a giraffe called April to give birth to her calf. And it seems that day has finally arrived. Animal Adventure Park in New York, where April lives with her mate, Oliver, have this afternoon shared a video of the baby giraffe's hooves emerging from its mother's birth canal. This means labour has officially started and it's only a matter of time before the calf is welcomed into the world. There has never been more excitement over the birth of a giraffe and April's fans have been waiting for months to hear news of the arrival.

April has never lost a calf nor had a stillborn
Oliver is 5 - his 1st calf
They have some of the largest indoor stalls in the nation (sq ft per animal). We take pride in our indoor housing and the level of enrichment and care to keep them happy and healthy. Unsafe weather and yard conditions may limit their yard access.
The calf will weigh around 150lb and will be about 6' tall at birth.
The front hooves will come out first followed by the snout.
Mom will naturally raise the calf, with weaning could take between 6-10 months, maybe longer. We will not rush this process – it is just a documented range of captive weaning.
Once the calf is born, we will have a contest to name it.
The keepers will go in with April, clean her pen, give her treats (but not Oliver). He is a bull - and a bull is a bull is a bull!
Giraffes are pregnant for 15 months on average
Upon naturally weaning, the calf will move on to another facility to start a breeding program there. We cannot retain offspring, as it would lead to incestuous mating and undermine the genetics of the program and species.
Those "things" on their heads are called ossicones.
Bulls (male giraffes) only really care about two things- fighting and the unmentionable....
Oliver may share space with April, but for short periods. Bulls take no part in rearing young.
They eat hay and specialized giraffe diet but love romaine lettuce and carrot treats.
April's water source, enrichment, and solo hay feeder are out of sight of the camera view.
This is Animal Adventure's first giraffe calf.

For months the world has been watching and waiting for a giraffe called April to give birth to her calf.
And it seems that day has finally arrived.
Animal Adventure Park in New York, where April lives with her mate, Oliver, have this afternoon shared a video of the baby giraffe's hooves emerging from its mother's birth canal.
This means labour has officially started and it's only a matter of time before the calf is welcomed into the world.
There has never been more excitement over the birth of a giraffe and April's fans have been waiting for months to hear news of the arrival.

J'ai réalisé il y a presque 10 ans "7 tonnes 2" un court-métrage mettant en scène un éléphant sur un trampoline. Je voulais faire une suite, cette fois-ci avec des girafes ... La création de ce film s'est étalée sur 1 an et demi.

An installation which through ultra-high-resolution video and interactive interface, reproduces the throng of activity once permeating a huge shared studio complex that closed in 2014. In order to realistically captre event taking place in each studio, the camera recorded from above, generating huge synthesized moving image. By touching the location you want to see on screen, it is possible to observe the daily routune of artists of 50 studios.
2014年、約50組の作家が活動していた巨大なシェアスタジオが閉館された。
ここでの出来事をリアルに記録するため各スタジオを真上から撮影し、それらを合成することで超高解像度の動く画として出力。鑑賞者は手元の図面に触れる事で見たい場所を拡大し観察することができる。
かつての空間の賑わいがリアルに蘇る。
