Welcome to the MVRA Website

The Mt Victoria Residents Association is an active advocate on behalf of the community, aiming to further the interests of our neighbourhood with local and central government. We’ve been doing this work for decades, promoting the needs of residents and opposing inappropriate development in the neighbourhood.

Any resident in Mt Victoria can become a member of the Association – annual membership is only $10 for individuals, $20 for families or $5 unwaged. To join, simply mail your details and a cheque to Mt Victoria Residents Association, PO Box 19-056, Courtenay Place, Wellington 6149.

The Association holds an AGM in September each year, where officers are elected from amongst the local residents. If you would like to contribute your time and energies to helping make our community a better place, you can volunteer to join the committee by e-mailing us at mtvicra [at] gmail.com (note the address has been munged to help prevent spam!)

The Association thanks all of you who made donations to support our opposition to the proposed flyover at the Basin Reserve and presentation to a Board of Inquiry of a viable alternative at ground level at far less cost than the flyover.  The Board declined consent to the flyover. The NZ Transport Agency appealed this decision to the High Court, but the High Court declined the appeal.  See more information on the EPA Board of Inquiry page.

The process to improve the Wellington transport system continues, with public meetings starting in April 2016. See the Ngauranga to Airport Governance Group for more information.
