Hội An ( listen), also Fai-Fo or Faifoo, is a city in Vietnam, located on the coast of the South China Sea in the South Central Coast region, in the Quảng Nam Province.
With approximately 120,000 inhabitants, Hội An is recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Hội An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.
The city possessed the largest harbour in south-east Asia in the 1st century and was known as Lâm Ấp Phố (Champa City). Between the seventh and 10th centuries, the Cham (people of Champa) controlled the strategic spice trade and with this came tremendous wealth. The former harbour town of the Cham at the estuary of the Thu Bồn River was an important Vietnamese trading centre in the 16th and 17th centuries, where Chinese from various provinces as well as Japanese, Dutch and Indians settled. During this period of the China trade, the town was called Hai Pho (Seaside Town) in Vietnamese. Originally, Hai Pho was a divided town with the Japanese settlement across the "Japanese Bridge" (16th-17th century). The bridge (Chùa cầu) is a unique covered structure built by the Japanese, the only known covered bridge with a Buddhist temple attached to one side.
My blog post from Hoi An: https://bykaja.com/2016/04/07/hoi-an-vietnam/ 4th part of my Vietnam vlogs! We drove in a bus for 12 hours to get from Nha Trang to Hoi An, an ancient town in central Vietnam, full of people from all around the world, old yellow houses, markets, lights and lanterns. We lived in a backpackers' hostel, had banana pancakes for breakfast, hung around the beautiful old town. We explored the markets and went for evening walks by the channels. We visited My Son, ruin of a Hindi temple, we chilled at the beach and we biked through the rice fields surrounding Hoi An. Check out the rest of my Vietnam adventure! Hội An vào rằm tháng bảy. This video gives you a free bicycle ride around Hoi An Ancient Town at sunrise (around 5-6am) and a wander at Full Moon Festival (7th lunar month). So, my July 2014 was spiced up with an awesome trip to Hội An, located in Quảng Nam, central of Vietnam. Lucky us! The weather can't be sunnier, supporting us a lot with our photographing and filming. We did enjoy every minute there in the summer air, and one thing that can not be omitted when mentioning how lovely this town was is its FOOD. Spicy, full-flavored and mouth-watering are the adjectives I'm talking about. Picturesque town, nice people, good food, what else? Wanna know me? visit my site at http://shadesoflame.com
Hoi An is known for many things. I like Hoi An because it offers some scrumptious Vietnamese food street eats for cheap. In this video I sample fried bananas and sweet potatoes, banh tieu with coconut, and grilled corn with pork fat and green onions, grilled beat up chicken eggs with seasoning, and of course my all time favorite, balut eggs. Btw, you can find the lady sitting near the well on a nightly basis in the Old Town near the Hoi An Market. Just be on the look out. Everything was also quite cheap at around 15,000 to 20,000 a piece. -------------------------------------------------- About Me: I'm Kyle Le and I live, travel, and eat in Vietnam and many Asian countries. Faifo (Hội An) is a small town located in the middle part of Vietnam. An ancient city with alleys to get lost in, boat rides across the river and small canals, ordinary people with extraordinary smiles. Today started with an early morning motorbike ride outside the city of Danang. Jeff took me to the local fishing village to watch them bring in their catch, and then we drove to an 800 year old tree! Next, Jeff and Nancy were nice enough to drive us to Hoi An so we didn't have to take the public bus. We tried out a couple different coffee shops together before they headed back to Danang. We spent the rest of the day walking, shopping, and eating in the ancient city of Hoi An. ***Travel Vlog 87 of Many*** Tunes by Joey Pecoraro: https://soundcloud.com/joeypecoraro
http://www.rustycompass.com A traveller's look at one of Vietnam's most popular travel destinations - from its quaint World Heritage Listed streets to nearby beaches and great cycling.
Travel video about destination Hoi An in Vietnam. Today it is difficult to believe that three hundred years ago the tiny dreamy harbour of Hoi An was one of the most important seaports in Vietnam. Now only small fishing boats lie at anchor in the harbour yet in former times Hoi An experienced a flourishing trade with Europe. Whether on the riverbanks of the Thu Bon, the narrow streets or the fascinating shops, Hoi An has retained the colourful atmosphere of bygone times. Life continued here as normal until in the early 1990's the tourist industry began to develop in Vietnam. The city's new found prosperity has not yet reached the entire city but it is reflected in some of its buildings. Many of the city's meeting halls, temples and homes are of typical Chinese design. Both the Quan Am Temp...

Although we had spent over a week in Hoi An, there were a number of attractions, buildings, temples and other historic sites we had yet to visit. Thus, on one of our last days in Hoi An, we (Samuel and Audrey) decided to explore the center of the ancient town on our bicycles. We purchased tickets from the local tourist office, which for $6 allowed us access into 5 of the old town's historic buildings. Apparently, you can sometimes get away visiting some of the attractions on the ticket list without paying for the actual ticket; however, we noticed guards checking tickets at several of the places we ended up visiting. She's starin' at me
I'm sittin' wonderin' what she's thinkin'
Nobody's talkin' 'cause talkin' just turns into screamin'
And now it?s I'm yellin' over her, she yellin' over me
All that that means is neither of us is listening
And what's even worse?
That we don't even remember why we?re fighting
So both of us are mad for
Nothing, fighting for
Nothin', crying for
Nothing, whoa
But we won?t let it go for
Nothing, no not for
Nothing, this should be
Nothing to a love like what we got
Oh baby, I know sometimes it's gonna rain
But baby, can we make up now?
'Cause I can't sleep through the pain
Can't sleep through the pain
Girl, I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mad at me
No, I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mad at me
Oh no no no
And it gets me upset
Girl when you?re constantly accusing
Askin' questions like you already know
We're fighting this war
Baby when both of us are losing
This ain't the way that love is supposed to go
Whoa, what happened to workin' it out?
We've fall into this place
Where you ain't backin' down and I ain't backin' down
So what the hell do we do now?
It's all for
Nothing, fighting for
Nothing, crying for
Nothing, whoa
But we won?t let it go for
Nothing, no not for
Nothing, this should be
Nothing to a love like what we got
Oh baby, I know sometimes it's gonna rain
But baby, can we make up now?
'Cause I can't sleep through the pain
Can't sleep through the pain
Girl, I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mad at me
No, I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mad at me
Oh no no no
Oh, baby this love ain't gonna be perfect
Perfect, perfect, oh oh
And just how good it's gonna be
We can fuss and we can fight
Long as everything?s all right between us
Before we go to sleep
Baby, we're gonna be happy, oh
Baby, I know sometimes it's gonna rain
But baby, can we make up now?
'Cause I can't sleep through the pain
Can't sleep through the pain
Girl, I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mad at me
No, I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mad at me
