Astrid Smeplass (born 29 October 1996), known professionally as Astrid S or simply Astrid, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She came fifth in the Norwegian version of the reality television show Pop Idol, aired on TV 2 in 2013. She is currently residing in Norway and the USA.

Biography

Growing up in a small town (Berkåk, Norway), Astrid got into music at an early age. At the age of 16 she participated in the Norwegian version of Pop Idol in 2013, and at that time released a single, "Shattered", under the name Astrid Smeplass. Astrid released her first single "2AM" under her new artist image at the age of 18 on Universal Music. "2AM" was released in the USA in 2015. She also released a cover-version of the single "FourFiveSeconds".

Music video

A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

Sony Music Entertainment Inc. (sometimes known as Sony Music or by the initials, SME) is an American music corporation managed and operated by Sony Corporation of America (SCA), a subsidiary of Japanese conglomerate Sony Corporation. In 1929, the enterprise was first founded as American Record Corporation (ARC) and, in 1938, was renamed Columbia Recording Corporation, following ARC's acquisition by CBS. Hurts So Good

"Hurts So Good" is a song from 1982 by American singer-songwriter John Mellencamp, then performing under the stage name "John Cougar." The song was a number two hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for the singer/songwriter. It was the first of three major hit singles from his 1982 album American Fool. The others were "Jack & Diane" and "Hand to Hold On To," which were all released in 1982.

Background and recording

"Hurts So Good" was written by Mellencamp and George Green, a childhood friend. The song was first conceived, Mellencamp claims, in his shower and the first lines created were those of the chorus written by Mellencamp. He then repeated the lines to Green and they finished the song very quickly. In 2004, Mellencamp expounded on the writing of "Hurts So Good" in an interview with American Songwriter magazine: "George Green and I wrote that together. We exchanged lines back and forth between each other and laughed about it at the time. Then I went and picked up the guitar, and within seconds, I had those chords."
