2009 (MMIX) was a common year starting on Thursday (dominical letter D) of the Gregorian calendar, the 2009th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 9th year of the 3rd millennium, the 9th year of the 21st century, and the 10th and last year of the 2000s decade.
2009 was designated as:
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.
2010 (MMX) was a common year starting on Friday (dominical letter C) of the Gregorian calendar, the 2010th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 10th year of the 3rd millennium, the 10th year of the 21st century, and the 1st year of the 2010s decade.
2010 was designated as:
There is a debate among experts and the general public on how to pronounce specific years of the 21st century in English. The year 2010 is pronounced either "two thousand (and) ten", or "twenty-ten". 2010 was the first year to have a wide variation in pronunciation, as the years 2000 to 2009 were generally pronounced "two thousand (and) one, two, three, etc." as opposed to the less common "twenty-oh-_".
A festival is an event ordinarily celebrated by a community and centering on some characteristic aspect of that community and its religion or traditions, often marked as a local or national holiday, mela or eid. Next to religion and folklore, a significant origin is agricultural. Food is such a vital resource that many festivals are associated with harvest time. Religious commemoration and thanksgiving for good harvests are blended in events that take place in autumn, such as Halloween in the northern hemisphere and Easter in the southern.
Festivals often serve to fulfill specific communal purposes, especially in regard to commemoration or thanksgiving. The celebrations offer a sense of belonging for religious, social, or geographical groups, contributing to group cohesiveness. They may also provide entertainment, which was particularly important to local communities before the advent of mass-produced entertainment. Festivals that focus on cultural or ethnic topics also seek to inform community members of their traditions; the involvement of elders sharing stories and experience provides a means for unity among families.
Barack Hussein Obama II (US i/bəˈrɑːk huːˈseɪn oʊˈbɑːmə/; born August 4, 1961) is an American politician serving as the 44th President of the United States, the first African American to hold the office. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review. He was a community organizer in Chicago before earning his law degree. He worked as a civil rights attorney and taught constitutional law at University of Chicago Law School between 1992 and 2004. He served three terms representing the 13th District in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004, and ran unsuccessfully in the Democratic primary for the United States House of Representatives in 2000 against incumbent Bobby Rush.
In 2004, Obama received national attention during his campaign to represent Illinois in the United States Senate with his victory in the March Democratic Party primary, his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July, and his election to the Senate in November. He began his presidential campaign in 2007 and, after a close primary campaign against Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2008, he won sufficient delegates in the Democratic Party primaries to receive the presidential nomination. He then defeated Republican nominee John McCain in the general election, and was inaugurated as president on January 20, 2009. Nine months after his inauguration, Obama was named the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

January/09 (365 Video Thing) Part 1 of 12 I don't know what to title this. I started taking video everyday with my Canon Powershot, aiming to cut together a video with no more than 15 seconds from every day in 2009. I hope this isn't too overboard self-indulgent. My own weird 365. I'm gonna edit these month by month, I think. Looking back on January, I can see what I did too much of or didn't do enough of. It's an interesting gauge. Forced reflection. February will be a different month. A lot of the same and a lot different. Music by: They Might Be Giants Fatboy Slim Jon Spencer Blues Explosion Mates of State The Wombats

Oddly enough, we managed to complete the finished vid in just one weeks time after being asked to do it. If you know the both Chase and myself, you'll understand what kind of an accomplishment that was. ha ha ha . . .. Anyhow, Fox Racing had asked if we could film a " how-to " do a whipper. Chase sits amongst the top group of dudes that can whip em with as they should be whipped. I used one of my favorite "Explosions in the Sky" songs, which came from a limited edition cd that...

Granted, turning Mad Men's January Jones into a sex bomb for GQ's November 2009 cover couldn't have been his toughest challenge. We're just glad we were there to witness the whole thing. I know that fan is moving air
I can see it in your hair
but I can't bear to breathe it in somehow
I'll rise and fall with you cause you can't fail me now
Salt is sweet upon my mouth
and dark throws *sparks* against my house
the state of love is a smudge upon my brow
but you see through me and you can't fail me now
when you see right through me you can't fail me now
I've bit off more than i can chew
its something that i tend to do
when fewer words are what we need and how
I bite my tongue and you can't fail me now
I rant and rail but you can't fail me now
solo
Bridge:
I've lost the thread among the vines
and hung myself in storylines that tell the tales I
never would allow
God knows the name of every bird that fills my mind
like angry words
but you know all my secret heart avows
We're taught to love the worst of us
and mercy more than life but trust me
mercy's just a warning shot across the bow
I live for yours and you can't fail me now
I live for your mercy
you can't fail me now
