Last year, five people died on WA roads during the Easter long weekend, and in 2015, the toll was three.

WA's road toll for 2017 now totals 49.

Double demerits are in force for the Easter long weekend, remaining in place until Monday, for drink or drug driving, speeding, seat belt and child restraint offences, running red lights and using mobile phones while driving.

"I know we would all dearly love to live in a future where every journey is a safe one," Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said last week at the City's Blessing of the Roads ceremony, which precedes Easter each year.

"That is why we all need to take responsibility for road safety and also be aware of the cyclists in our community."

Police urge anyone who may have seen the crash, or the Holden Colorado beforehand, to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
