Titled after its subject, “Izmat” is a #photograph on view in “Notes from the Desert: Photographs by Gauri Gill.” Since the late 1990s, #GauriGill (born 1970) has been photographing marginalized communities in western Rajasthan, #India.

#Reposting @wethepeopledc – Also at the @freersackler was this beautiful exhibit “Turquoise Mountain: Artists Transforming Afghanistan.” And it’s a bit unique: “We have a few rules here,” the guard told me with a smile. “You can touch everything! Just don’t break anything.” So much fun to see children toddling around, touching the exhibit. I love seeing kids welcomed at museums! It reminds me that we have a collective duty to introduce the youngest among us to history and art.
