The Buzz:
Dominic Toretto has turned evil in the latest Fast and Furious outing, and it's up to his family to take him down. Though with Letty having gone rogue due to amnesia back in Fast & Furious 6, you have to wonder why folks aren't immediately calling "mind control." I'm just looking forward to gravity defying car chases, Charlize Theron as the baddie, Jason Statham's addition to the bad-ass brawling bald guys roster and whatever that cars vs. submarine showdown in the Russian tundra is. Take my money. - Vanessa

The Buzz: I became a fan of writer/director James Gray's work when I saw his excellent film, Two Lovers. His follow-up, the 2013 period drama The Immigrant, cemented his reputation as a master craftsman. With The Lost City of Z, Gray unveils his most ambitious project yet. The film, which Gray describes as "David Lean but with a slightly more hallucinogenic feel," tells the amazing true story of Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), a British explorer who disappeared in the Amazon jungle in 1925 while searching for an ancient lost city. Filmed on location in Colombia, The Lost City of Z promises a return to the grand-scale adventure filmmaking of the '60s. - Matt

The Buzz: Richard Gere is earning some of the strongest reviews of his career for his portrayal of a small-time political operator in New York City. Getting as much attention is writer/director Joseph Cedar, who reappears five years after his Best Foreign Language Oscar nomination for Footnote. Don't be surprised if this release sticks around until summer.
Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent (2016) - [Limited]- Documentary | Biography
Both a biopic of a complicated man and an exploration of the gathering forces that converged to shape a new American cuisine and create the cult of "celebrity chef"... A consummate hedonist, Jeremiah Tower's career spans the riotous sexual revolution of the 70's to the high rolling "greed-is-good" spirit of the '80s. Key interviews with celebrities & celebrity chefs cement Tower's influence on today's food culture and reveal how he transformed the restaurant industry and in the process changed the way we eat.

The Buzz: My joy at seeing one of my closest imaginary friends brought to life on screen is not unmixed. I'm worried that her screen avatar will shatter some of my ideas about her. I also wonder what the woman who wrote the lines "How dreary to be somebody/ How public, like a frog/ To tell one's name the livelong day/ To an admiring bog" would say about having her voice amplified. - Kiran
