Louis XIV is twenty-eight years old. In order to rule over the nobility and to permanently impose his absolute power, he launches the construction of Versailles, like one sets a trap. Louis XIV is a young king haunted by childhood trauma, the Fronde, a rebellion of the nobility against his father Louis XIII… Outstanding political strategist, manipulator, Machiavellian, he will “invent” Versailles in order to keep the Nobles away from Paris and under control; he is progressively transforming Versailles into a golden prison. He is also inclined to Romanesque passions, but how to live them out when one is the greatest king of the world?
The first season follows the King as he turns into the Sun King: the King of the Kings. The historical and fictional characters, ranging from the most known courtier to the most humble villager, guide us through a world of betrayal and intimate secrets, of political maneuvers and war declarations, revealing Versailles in all its glory and brutality.

This video can also be called a tribute to the Princess Palatine, the woman, whose strong female character really impressed me.
Versailles is rich in strong female characters, but Liselotte was one of those women at court that can be truly admired. It seemed that she fell in love with Philippe at first sight (not surprisingly) and in spite of knowing that he was unable to love her back she did everything possible so he could at least respect her. And she succeded!
In this video I tried to show the fine line between love and hatred, coldness and affection.
Hope you'll like it!
I'm waiting for my DVD now, so I hope that other videos will be some better quality, of course in case I get some inspiration :D

Vu d’en haut, les liens entre la ville et son château deviennent étroits : de part et d’autre de la chambre du Roi, les perspectives, les avenues et les allées, les bosquets et les places se répondent.
Ces nouveaux aperçus réalisés par la Ville de Versailles mettent en évidence un plan régulier, strictement ordonnancé de manière à laisser entrer la nature et la lumière du soleil, dont les rayons doivent converger vers le château.
Pionnière de la ville-jardin avec un territoire de plus de 50% d’espaces naturels, Versailles a ainsi inspiré l’urbanisme de nombreuses villes dans le monde dont Washington, Karlsruhe et Saint-Pétersbourg.
Le groupe d’électro-pop versaillais Saint Michel signe la bande originale du film avec une version instrumentale inédite de son titre aérien, Bob.

Palace of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles, or simply Versailles (English /vɛərˈsaɪ/ vair-SY or /vərˈsaɪ/ vər-SY; French: [vɛʁsaj]), is a royal château in Versailles in the Île-de-France region of France. It is also known as the château de Versailles.
When the château was built, Versailles was a country village; today, however, it is a wealthy suburb of Paris, some 20 kilometres southwest of the French capital. The court of Versailles was the centre of political power in France from 1682, when Louis XIV moved from Paris, until the royal family was forced to return to the capital in October 1789 after the beginning of the French Revolution. Versailles is therefore famous not only as a building, but as a symbol of the system of absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime.
Architectural history
Begun by Louis XIII in 1623, the château began as a hunting lodge in brick and stone. It was enlarged into a royal palace by Louis XIV. The first phase of the expansion (c. 1661–1678) was designed and supervised by the architect Louis Le Vau. It culminated in the addition of three new wings of stone (the enveloppe), which surrounded Louis XIII's original building on the north, south, and west (the garden side). After Le Vau's death in 1670, the work was taken over and completed by his assistant, François d'Orbay.Charles Le Brun designed and supervised the elaborate interior decoration, and André Le Nôtre landscaped the extensive Gardens of Versailles. Le Brun and Le Nôtre collaborated on the numerous fountains, and Le Brun supervised the design and installation of countless statues.

Louis XIV of France
Louis XIV (5 September 1638 – 1 September 1715), known as Louis the Great (Louis le Grand) or the Sun King (le Roi-Soleil), was a monarch of the House of Bourbon who ruled as King of France from 1643 until his death. His reign of 72 years and 110 days is the longest of any monarch of a major country in European history.
Louis began his personal rule of France in 1661 after the death of his chief minister, the Italian Cardinal Mazarin. An adherent of the concept of the divine right of kings, which advocates the divine origin of monarchical rule, Louis continued his predecessors' work of creating a centralized state governed from the capital. He sought to eliminate the remnants of feudalism persisting in parts of France and, by compelling many members of the nobility to inhabit his lavish Palace of Versailles (formerly a hunting lodge belonging to Louis's father), succeeded in pacifying the aristocracy, many members of which had participated in the Fronde rebellion during Louis's minority. By these means he became one of the most powerful French monarchs and consolidated a system of absolute monarchical rule in France that endured until the French Revolution.

Take Away
Take Away is a 2003 Australian comedy movie, written by Dave O'Neil, who also features as a minor character, and Mark O'Toole. It stars Vince Colosimo, Stephen Curry, Rose Byrne and Nathan Phillips. The film starts in 19th century Victoria with the invention of the ever great "Take away".
Plot
Tony Stilano and Trev Spackneys both own, live over and work in adjoining take-away fish and chip shops in Melbourne. Although they have fallen into a habitual rivalry based on a cause long forgotten, the pair unite when the multinational fast-food outlet "Burgies" unveils a new store directly opposite the twin fish and chips shops.
Stilano (portrayed by Vince Colosimo) is an uptight store runner, demanding everything be in order including his drinks- the coldest must always be at the front. Spackneys (played by Stephen Curry), however is the opposite. His chips are made of dirty potatoes and he couldn't care less about health or safety precautions. Both owners are aided by their two romantically linked apprentices. Sonja Stilano (Tony's cousin, played by Rose Byrne) and Dave (played by Nathan Phillips).

Versailles is rich in strong female characters, but Liselotte was one of those women at court that can be truly admired. Until this trip, I had only ever experienced Paris in the summer and I was struck by just how different the city is when most of us tourist are gone. We were equipped with our metro and museum passes and were able to easily access most places of interest without even waiting in line. It was incredible! This video can also be called a tribute to the Princess Palatine, the woman, whose strong female character really impressed me.

This video can also be called a tribute to the Princess Palatine, the woman, whose strong female character really impressed me.
Versailles is rich in strong female characters, but Liselotte was one of those women at court that can be truly admired. It seemed that she fell in love with Philippe at first sight (not surprisingly) and in spite of knowing that he was unable to love her back she did everything possible so he could at least respect her. And she succeded!
In this video I tried to show the fine line between love and hatred, coldness and affection.

I'm waiting for my DVD now, so I hope that other videos will be some better quality, of course in case I get some inspiration :D

Vu d’en haut, les liens entre la ville et son château deviennent étroits : de part et d’autre de la chambre du Roi, les perspectives, les avenues et les allées, les bosquets et les places se répondent.
Ces nouveaux aperçus réalisés par la Ville de Versailles mettent en évidence un plan régulier, strictement ordonnancé de manière à laisser entrer la nature et la lumière du soleil, dont les rayons doivent converger vers le château.
Pionnière de la ville-jardin avec un territoire de plus de 50% d’espaces naturels, Versailles a ainsi inspiré l’urbanisme de nombreuses villes dans le monde dont Washington, Karlsruhe et Saint-Pétersbourg.
Le groupe d’électro-pop versaillais Saint Michel signe la bande originale du film avec une version instrumentale inédite de son titre aérien, Bob.

This graphic opening credits is an ode of the big works of the Sun King. To the hunting cottage to the construction of the most amazing castle and the biggest empire in Europe. It's all about human, animal and nature sacrifices. This new power take over of many lives and a total control of nature. The gigantic landscape works of the architect Le Nôtre was the inspiration. This domestication of land and the water set the pace of this pageantry: fountains, water bassin, grand canal... Like no other, the fabulous gardens of Versailles was the theatre of the biggest and the most sophisticate parties and social life in the western World at this time. On this opening the conflict between a modern motion design and a kind of classic imagery evoking this "lumières" era and the reform of the french power in a new image of the aristocracy.

The Gabriel Chandelier is the first permanent contemporary piece installed in the Palace of Versailles, designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and realized by Swarovski.
Measuring 12 meters in hight and weighing half a tonne, the chandelier is composed of 800 crystal modules. These pieces are threaded around a stainless steel skeleton containing a led lighting system.

Claire and I recently took a trip to France, and I filmed this during our time in Paris. Until this trip, I had only ever experienced Paris in the summer and I was struck by just how different the city is when most of us tourist are gone. We were equipped with our metro and museum passes and were able to easily access most places of interest without even waiting in line. It was incredible! We were even given a private tour of the École du Louvre. Thanks Elisabeth!
The weather wasn't always perfect, but our experience was totally different and unique. Now I'm truly curious to visit the city in other seasons. Maybe a trip during the Fall someday?
I continue to be amazed by the little camera that could, aka the the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. I have yet to shoot ProRes or DNxHD, though I've seen amazing footage that was shot in the compressed modes. For me it's all about the uncompressed raw. It's not the easiest or fastest format to work with in post, but it allows me to color grade the images to get exactly the look I'm after.
I had the latest firmware for this shoot and put the timelapse feature to use. It's not going to replace a DSLR for serious timelapse work, but it is an amazing companion in my opinion. It can shoot consistently at higher frame rates than a DSLR can sustain, so shots where you only want a subtle timelapse effect are achievable. You can also shoot with longer intervals, but the slowest shutter speed is still only 1/24th of a second so shots become less smooth the longer your interval is. Ideally, you'd want to be closer to a 180 degree shutter.

The band Phoenix performs their song 'Entertainment' for La Blogotheque's Take Away Shows.
This is the second series of Take Away Shows we're doing with Phoenix. This one has been filmed at dawn in the empty gardens of Le Chateau de Versailles. It was filmed with a drone, in one continuous shot, flying around the band. All music was recorded live.

Palace of Versailles
I had always wanted to visit the Palace of Versailles and it was everything I imagined and more. It's really difficult to understand the grandeur, scale and intricacies of the palace until you actually go there. The Palace is rather large itself and we took an audio guide with us for a self-guided tour. The Palace grounds are even larger and extend for a vast amount of land. It is possible to see it in a short day trip but I recommend to take your time and see it as it was meant to be seen, with time and care to appreciate all the details. I had always wanted to visit the Palace of Versailles and it was everything I imagined and more. It's really difficult to understand the grandeur, scale and intricacies of the palace until you actually go there.
The Palace is rather large itself and we took an audio guide with us for a self-guided tour. The Palace grounds are even larger and extend for a vast amount of land.
It is possible to see it in a short day trip but I recommend to take your time and see it as it was meant to be seen, with time and care to appreciate all the details.
