Prayer

A Prayer for Remembrance

God of all time

Today we gather in the bush, in this special place to honour and remember the part played by the Aboriginal people and the Torres Strait Islanders in the wars for our nation.

We pause awhile:

Response: We remember and honour them

May we as a nation come to fully acknowledge the contribution that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have made to the defence of this land.

We honour those that served in the Navy, Army and the Air Force.

We honour those who though not in uniform used their skills and experience in the war efforts.

We remember those who gave their lives and are lost from us.

We remember those whose lives were never the same.

We pause awhile:

Response: We remember and honour them.

God of the Dreamtime, God of Today,

Help us never to forget.

As the people of Australia become aware of the contribution of the Aboriginal people and the Torres Strait Islanders to the defence of Australia

May they be remembered with dignity and pride.

We pause awhile:

Response: We remember and honour them.

AMEN
