Bastos

Bastos is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population is 21,067 (2015 est.) in an area of 172 km². The elevation is 445 m.

History

The name originated from Henrique Bastos, who owned a farm in the area. And it was these same lands that the foundation of the city occurred on June 18, 1928, by Senjiro Hatanaka, sent by the Japanese government to look for land to receive the waves of Japanese immigrants.

After cycles of crops such as coffee, cotton, sericulture, from 1957, the council found its economic vocation: the laying poultry. The city has the largest flock of laying hens in the country and thus is the municipality with the highest production of eggs from Brazil, so the self-titling of "capital of the egg." Bastos is also the headquarters of the Brazilian city of the Egg Festival. This festival brings together not only an exhibition of innovations and products used in the poultry industry, as well as concerts and entertainment for the general population and the region of Bastos.

Bubble Gang

Bubble Gang is a Philippine comedy sketch gag show airing on GMA Network since October 20, 1995. It is the longest-running sketch comedy program on Philippine television. The show shot up to popularity for their parodies of television commercials, politicians and current events. The show also airs internationally via GMA Pinoy TV, while re-runs are aired via Fox Filipino.

History

Development

Bubble Gang first aired on GMA Network on October 20, 1995. It was inspired by the ABC's gag show Tropang Trumpo. Two of its first cast members; Ogie Alcasid and Michael V. came from that show. The show occupied the Friday night timeslot of the now-defunct musical variety show, Vilma!. The cast of the show where: Aiko Melendez, and Eric Fructuoso, and newcomers Susan Lozada, Assunta De Rossi, Jackie De Guzman, Wendell Ramos and Antonio Aquitania (who were hired by the late GMA talent manager, Douglas Quijano) who is one of the first casts of Bubble Gang with Alcasid and Michael V. on their early days. There were two extras in the show, such as Diego Llorico, who was working as a production assistant to the show, currently also a segment producer, & Susan Lozada's personal assistant Marissa "Mykah" Flores, she was eventually one of Wendell Ramos love interest.

GMA Network

GMA Network (Global Media Arts or simply GMA) is a major commercial television and radio network in the Philippines. GMA Network is owned by GMA Network Inc. a publicly listed company. Its first broadcast on television was on October 29, 1961, GMA Network (formerly known as DZBB TV Channel 7, RBS TV Channel 7, GMA Radio-Television Arts then GMA Rainbow Satellite Network) is commonly signified to as the "Kapuso Network" in reference to the outline of the company’s logo. It has also been called the “Christian Network” which refers to the apparent programming during the tenure of the new management, which took over in 1974. It is headquartered in the GMA Network Center in Quezon City and its transmitter is located at Tandang Sora Avenue, Barangay Culiat also in Quezon City.

The original meaning of the GMA acronym was Greater Manila Area, referring to the initial coverage area of the station. As the network expanded it changed into Global Media Arts. At present the corporate name is simply GMA Network Inc.

Rafinha Bastos

Rafael Bastos Hocsman, better known as Rafinha Bastos (born December 5, 1976 in Porto Alegre, Brazil), his stage name, is a Jewish Brazilian comedian, actor, journalist and television personality.

Rafinha Bastos was a former host of "CQC" a popular TV show in Brazil. Since May 2010, he also hosts another TV show, "A Liga", which is broadcast by Band TV channel.

In 2010, Bastos, together with comedian Danilo Gentili and producer Italo Gusso, opened the most popular comedy club in Brazil, in the city of Sao Paulo.

In 2011, Rafinha became worldwide famous after the New York Times elected him the world's most influential person on Twitter.

In CQC's September 19, 2011 live broadcast, Bastos made an allegedly dark humor joke about singer Wanessa; when Marcelo Tas, the show's main host, remarked how beautiful the singer looked pregnant, Bastos replied: "Muito. Comeria ela e o bebê." ("Absolutely. I'd do her and the baby"). The joke caused controversy among audiences and was taken with severe criticism. Following the next broadcast on September 26, Bastos was suspended from the show and has not yet returned. He was rumoured to have asked his resignation on his contract, but the fact was not confirmed. On October 13, Wanessa and her husband Marcus Buaiz sued Bastos for R$100,000 claiming personal injury, as well as initiated a criminal lawsuit against him.
