Balboa may refer to:
Robert "Rocky" Balboa, Sr. is the title character of the Rocky series. The character was created by Sylvester Stallone, who also portrayed him in all seven Rocky films. He is depicted as an everyman who started out by going the distance and overcoming obstacles that had occurred in his life and career as a professional boxer. He is loosely based on Chuck Wepner, a one-time boxer who fought Muhammad Ali and lost. However, the fight went on with Wepner lasting for several rounds before being finally defeated.
The character is widely considered to be Stallone's most iconic role together with John Rambo, and is often considered the role that started his film career. He received critical acclaim for his performance in the first movie, earning Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations, although reception for the sequels was less positive. When Stallone reprised his role once again in 2015 for Creed, his performance received wide acclaim and he received his first Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor, along with his third Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, the National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actor and several other accolades.
Rocky is a 1976 American sports drama film directed by John G. Avildsen and both written by and starring Sylvester Stallone. It tells the rags to riches American Dream story of Rocky Balboa, an uneducated but kind-hearted working class Italian-American boxer working as a debt collector for a loan shark in the slums of Philadelphia. Rocky starts out as a small-time club fighter, and later gets a shot at the world heavyweight championship. The film also stars Talia Shire as Adrian, Burt Young as Adrian's brother Paulie, Burgess Meredith as Rocky's trainer Mickey Goldmill, and Carl Weathers as the champion, Apollo Creed.
The film, made on a budget of just over $1 million and shot in 28 days, was a sleeper hit; it earned $225 million in global box office receipts, becoming the highest grossing film of 1976, and went on to win three Oscars, including Best Picture. The film received many positive reviews and turned Stallone into a major star. In 2006, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Rocky is considered to be one of the greatest sports films ever made and was ranked as the second-best in the genre, after Raging Bull, by the American Film Institute in 2008.
Sylvester Gardenzio "Sly" Stallone (/stəˈloʊn/; Italian pronunciation: [(ɡarˈdɛntsjo) stalˈloːne]; born July 6, 1946) is an American actor, screenwriter, producer, and director. He is well known for his Hollywood action roles, particularly boxer Rocky Balboa, the title character of the Rocky series' seven films from 1976 to 2015; soldier John Rambo from the four Rambo films, which ran from 1982 to 2008; and Barney Ross in the three The Expendables films from 2010 to 2014. He wrote or co-wrote most of the 14 films in all three franchises, and directed many of the films.
Stallone's film Rocky was inducted into the National Film Registry as well as having its film props placed in the Smithsonian Museum. Stallone's use of the front entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Rocky series led the area to be nicknamed the Rocky Steps. Philadelphia has a statue of his Rocky character placed permanently near the museum. It was announced on December 7, 2010 that Stallone was voted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in the non-participant category.

During the #STILLPOURtrip we had a couple hours to kill, so I brought the guys to the new Balboa Skate Park in San Francisco. The camera came out, so fun stuff ensued! riders and filmers: Nelson Bell, Kevin Selle, Devin Tolman, Ramon Antonio, and Taylor Dwight song: Santo & Johnny - School Days
It all started in Newport Beach and ended on Balboa Island. It's obvious that Erin and Warren aren't your typical bride and groom, because they are legit-ly cool people and aren't afraid to have fun anywhere. It also helps to have a cool photographer who works well with you and likes to have the same kind of crazy fun. He actually took a photo-sequence of the groom running behind the bride and merged them. I saw it, and thought I'd give it a crack for the film as well. That scene was shot hand held over his shoulder so it's less than perfect, but still adds to the uniqueness of the overall vibe with the carnival and song choice. I would do this again any day.
The tragedy and mystery repeats like a farce
A carousel of laughter as it all falls apart
History sits in holding pattern
As vultures circle our carcass
Pinned down I can't touch you
Like tableaux in wax that won't melt
Turn around and turn to stone
This mistake cost me a lifetime
Heave into yourself
Breathe out my life
What catastrophic mediocrity
What you are I once was
What I am now you will be
So proud of the bloody roots
Of this rhythm
