New Lexus LS500 F-Sport revealed

Lexus has whipped the covers off its sportiest limousine. 

The Japanese brand revealed its range-topping LS500 sedan at the 2017 Detroit motor show in January, but saved its F-Sport spec model for a 2017 New York motor show debut. 

While mechanically the same, the F-Sport model features a number of cosmetic upgrades inside and out compared to the stock LS500. 

The exterior touches are highlighted by the F-Sport's new spindle front grille, side panels, a re-worked rear end and specific 20-inch alloy wheels, while F-Sport badging bedecks the fenders. 

Lexus has also fitted larger brakes and sports-tuned air-suspension to give the sedan a sportier appeal. 

Inside, Lexus has upped the trim level of the F-Sport by adding a new steering wheel and LFA inspired speedo and tachometer, aluminum pedals, suede trimmed seats and headliner and F-Sport models can be specified with red trimmed interior. 

The LS500 F-Sport will be offered with both petrol and hybrid power. With a 310kW/600Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine powering the petrol variant and a 220kW/350Nm 3.6-litre V6 hybrid system proving the oomph for the LS500h variant.

Models should arrive in Australian showrooms in early 2018.
