The Mazda MX-5, released as the Mazda MX-5 Miata /miˈɑːtə/ in North America and as the Eunos Roadster in Japan, is a lightweight two-seater roadster with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Manufactured by Mazda in Hiroshima, Japan, the model debuted in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. The MX-5 was conceived as a small roadster – with light weight and minimal mechanical complexity limited only by legal and safety requirements, while being technologically modern and reliable. The MX-5 is conceptually an evolution of small sports roadsters of the 1960s, such as the Triumph Spitfire, Datsun 2000, Alfa Romeo Spider, and particularly the Lotus Elan.
The second generation MX-5 (NB) was launched in 1998 (for the 1999 model year), the third generation (NC) model was launched in 2005 (for the 2006 model year), and a fourth generation (ND) was released in 2015 (for the 2016 model year). It continues to be the best-selling two-seat convertible sports car in history and by July 2014 over 940,000 MX-5s had been built and sold around the world. Production of the MX-5 fell by 2013 to below 14,000 units, due to the world finance crisis in 2008, and the pre-announcement in 2012 of the coming ND model.

Mazda MX-5 RF hardtop: http://carbyr.uk/2m2Rb9h Watch our latest video: http://bit.ly/carbuyervideos The Mazda MX-5 RF is the hardtop version of the standard MX-5. But unlike the old MX-5 Roadster Coupe, the RF is more of a targa - with a folding roof panel that preserves the coupe profile when folded. It's no more practical than the standard MX-5, although it is quieter on the move. Power comes from a choice of 1.5 and 2.0-litre engines, with a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes. First test of a wider large scale ocean surface. Volume simulation with RealFlows grid solver. Cell size is 40 centimeters, you can see all details in HD :) Size of surface: 300x200 meters, 3 meters max water depth. Im not sure whether RealFlow will be able to deal with this when I simulate splash/foam etc. I currently resimulate the scene with 30cm cell size on the new workstation (specs on profile page). Now 24 threads instead of 12. Goal is a complete render with all secondary elements in broad daylight^^
SimDetails: 180 frms @ 12h30m @ 0 - 2 x 2.969.449 parts per frame @ 25 fps @ 1 SandyStep @ 5 - 30 RF-Steps Multipoint-Render. 5 additional points per particle. Scatter-Radius: (originalRadius * 1.2). Particle render radius: (originalRadius * 0.6 / 3.0)
New test for the hyper-res tool Im working on. Consider this to be beta stage...it totally works. Again: There is no cache mode used...all native in one single simulation, 5-30 substeps and stable. Resolution is only increased outside of the core fluid (unless an object interacts with the core underneath the surface and creates bubbles, of course). You get full particle-to-particle interaction between core and detail, unlike with hybrido. Results hardly change with resolution change. No vorticity computed or needed. Particles for later mist-emission and bubble-emission (in lets say Maya or C4D or others) are automatically created and can also be extracted manually after the sim (previews with those will follow). The water also splits as it mixes with air at high velocies (like with a wa...
New test for the hyper-res tool Im working on. Consider this to be alpha stage...it actually works pretty well. What has to be improved is the explosion-like behavior in some areas...currently the resolution ratio is about 1:100 (core simulation and detail simulation). There is no cache mode used...all native in one single simulation, 5-30 substeps and stable. Resolution is only increased outside of the core fluid (unless an object interacts with the core underneath the surface and creates bubbles, of course). You get full particle-to-particle interaction between core and detail, unlike with hybrido. Results hardly change with resolution change. When rendering the particles it does not look like so many explosions, unless I use velocity-shading for the particles too. Which is the case in ...
