The Mackin sisters know the score for success in final

When Armagh champions Shane O'Neill's (Camlough) overcame Parnells (London) by 3-7 to 1-10 in the recent All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate Football semi-final, Aimee Mackin helped herself to 3-6 of their total.

Yet while her scoring feat merely replicated the outstanding form she has been revealing all season, 20-year-old Aimee was quick to highlight the contribution of her sister, Bliathin, to the Armagh' club's cause.

"I might have got on the score-sheet, but Bliathin and the other players did much of spadework. As long as the team continues to win that's all that matters," says Aimee.

Tomorrow, though, she will certainly need to have her shooting boots on when Shane O'Neill's take on Galway and Connacht champions Annaghdown in the All-Ireland final at Parnell Park, Dublin (1.00) where their defensive resolve and counter-attacking prowess will come under the spotlight.

If Aimee Mackin is currently proving one of the hottest talents in ladies football, then Louise and Emma Kenny are underlining their worth as key defenders in a side that has matured rapidly this year.

In Annaghdown, the Shane O'Neill's side will be encountering a side that is a fusion of youth and experience and which showed their mettle in overcoming Abbeyside by 1-8 to 0-6 at the semi-final stage.

The prospect of an Ulster double at All-Ireland level is very much on the cards tomorrow as Monaghan champions Donaghmoyne will seek to make it back-to-back national crowns when they face Dublin side Foxrock Cabinteely in the senior final, also at Parnell Park (2.45).

Donaghmoyne have banked considerable experience at this level and manager Francie Coleman will place his faith in players such as Cora Courtney, Louise Kerley, Hazel Kingham and Catriona McConnell to do the business.

Meanwhile, the McCormack family from Warrenpoint is hoping to have cause for a double celebration today.

Anne McCormack has just taken over as secretary of the local St Peter's side while her son Ruairi will be at midfield when they meet St Eunan's, Letterkenny in the Paul McGirr Cup final at Gardrum Park, Dromore (2.00).

The St Peter's outfit is particularly keen to highlight the strength of under-age football in Down but face a daunting task against a strong St Eunan's outfit.

While Down have lived in the shadows in recent seasons, Donegal have made their presence felt at minor level with several of their most talented players coming from the St Eunan's club.

The latest batch of starlets from the Letterkenny will be on view today and the St Peter's management team accept that their players will have to peak if they are to come out on top.

Fermanagh champions Enniskillen Gaels and Cavan side Crosserlough will meet in the Ulster Club Football Tournament quarter-final while Kilrea and Crossmaglen Rangers will clash in the preliminary round of the competition with both matches taking place in Belfast today.
