Dromintee are on a mission to get title bid back on track

Two sides who have already fallen to Crossmaglen Rangers will hope to gain redemption when they cross swords in the Armagh Senior Football Championship at the Athletic Grounds on Monday night (6.45pm).

While Dromintee lost by a modest margin to the reigning champions, Tir na nOg were on the receiving end of an unmerciful 6-21 to 0-8 trouncing from Gareth O'Neill's side that has done little for their morale in advance of Monday's tie.

Nonetheless, the Portadown outfit are prepared to put their shoulder to the wheel against Dromintee, who are a fusion of youth and experience and who still harbour ambitions of making it through to the closing stages of the competition.

In the other match on the Athletic Grounds bill of fare, Wolfe Tones and Forkhill will meet (8pm).

Wolfe Tones have already beaten Grange and fallen to Maghery but can get back on the rails again providing Declan Lavery, Niall Geoghegan, James Doyle and Ruairi Kelly in particular show the way.

Forkhill may be unsung but in Stephen Sheridan they have a midfield ace of real quality while Jemar Hall is one of the fastest forwards in the county.

County board spokesman Sean O'Maoliste said: "The Armagh Championship is currently providing some very interesting games."
