RSPCA Inspector treated for injuries after an alleged assault
A RSPCA WA Inspector has been treated for injuries after an alleged assault while responding to an animal cruelty report in Cardup.
The RSPCA is working with WA Police to file a formal complaint.
It alleges when inspectors arrived at the property they were prevented from entering and the occupants became abusive and aggressive.
RSPCA WA chief inspector Amanda Swift said a scuffle broke out and one inspector was allegedly punched in the face.
"Our inspectors face difficult situations on a daily basis, in response to reports of unspeakable cruelty inflicted on defenseless animals," she said.
"While their training prepares them for potentially volatile situations, it is unacceptable that they are assaulted in the line of duty.
"However, that should not deter people from reporting acts of animal cruelty and neglect. Together we can ensure these people are held to account."
