Home of IBTec

IBTec is a multi-disciplinary inter-faculty University research institute that sits between the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies (DCT) and the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences (HE) at AUT. It is currently hosted by the DCT and administered by the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. IBTec comprises of academic and research staff from the School of Engineering (in DCT), the HE and several other collaborative universities, hospitals and medical industries.

The areas of research within IBTec

IBTec exists to:

  • Train and mentor postgraduate students, in particular PhD candidates, to be leading researchers in their field of expertise.
  • Nurture, develop and disseminate technological solutions that improve healthcare for New Zealanders and worldwide.
  • Promote AUT as an international centre of excellence in healthcare technology research and teaching and support AUT’s activities in this area.
  • Stimulate the success of New Zealand’s healthcare technology, high value manufacturing sector in the global context.
