It includes three of the people that live there, Tom Dugan, Jared Swafford, and Mat Houck plus two that don't, Aaron Ross and Jabari Winters. Tom Dugan (American actor)
Tom Dugan is an American theater, film and television actor who appeared in nearly 50 films and television series since 1986.
Life and career
Tom Dugan grew up in Winfield Township, New Jersey and studied theater at Montclair State University. Dugan has been professionally acting in Los Angeles for over 25 years and is the 2011 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award-Winner for Best Solo Performance for his work as Simon Wiesenthal in Wiesenthal.
An LA Times Critics' Pick for 2010, Tom Dugan wrote and starred in one-man historical plays Robert E. Lee - Shades of Gray and Wiesenthal, and wrote and directed Frederick Douglass - In the Shadow of Slavery and The Ghosts of Mary Lincoln. Dugan often plays in the area of one-person shows, as he currently has 5 shows in production simultaneously. His regional theatre work includes leading roles in The Man Who Came to Dinner, Misery, Amadeus and The Voice of the Prairie. He has also starred in national tours of Oscar to Oscar and On Golden Pond with Jack Klugman, along with national tours of his own plays including Robert E. Lee –Shades of Gray and Wiesenthal. Dugan is a member of the Colony Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, Theater 40 in Beverly Hills, CA, Theatrical Arts International, SAG/AFTRA, and Actors Equity. Accolades for Dugan include three nominations for the 2011 Los Angeles Ovation Awards, for his work in Wiesenthal, and the 2003 Inland Theater League Best Actor Award.

The series was inspired by the 1950 film Wagon Master directed by John Ford and starring Ben Johnson, Harry Carey Jr. and Ward Bond, and harkens back to the early widescreen wagon train epic The Big Trail (1930) starring John Wayne and featuring Bond in his first major screen appearance playing a supporting role. Horton's buckskin outfit as the scout in the first season of the television series resembles Wayne's, who also played the wagon train's scout in the earlier film.

Lee is portrayed as a hero in the historical children's novel Lee and Grant at Appomattox by MacKinlay Kantor. His part in the Civil War is told from the perspective of his horse in Richard Adams' book Traveller.
Lee is an obvious subject for American Civil War alternate histories. Ward Moore's Bring the Jubilee, Kantor's If the South Had Won the Civil War (1960), and Harry Turtledove's The Guns of the South, all have Lee ending up as President of a victorious Confederacy and freeing the slaves (or laying the groundwork for the slaves to be freed in a later decade). Although Bring and If relegate him to a set of passing references, Lee is more of a main character in the Guns. The league flourished until after World War II, when, with the men's return, the league was consigned to oblivion. The story begins as a candy-bar tycoon enlists agents to scour the country to find women who could play ball. In the backwoods of Oregon, two sisters -- Dottie (Geena Davis) and Kit (Lori Petty) -- are discovered. Dottie can hit and catch, while Kit can throw a mean fastball. The girls come to Chicago to try out for the team with other prospects that include their soon-to-be-teammates Mae Mordabito (Madonna), Doris Murphy (Rosie O'Donnell), and Marla Hooch (Megan Cavanagh). The team's owner, Walter Harvey (Gary Marshall) needs someone to coach his team and he picks one-time home-run champion Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks), who is now a broken-down alcoholic. After a few weeks of training, as Dugan sobers up, the team begins to show some promise. By the end of the season, the team has improved to the point where they are competing in the World Series (which is no big deal, since there are only four teams in the league).
