Fresh from the 16-point loss to the Dockers at Domain Stadium, the premiership coach was asked whether he would consider bringing in Will Minson to support Tom Campbell. The reporter's question was met with a brief stare from the coach before Beveridge politely replied: "It's going to be tough, mate. He's retired. You don't know that?
"Sorry, he's retired mate. He's finished up. Will, he was an outstanding servant of our football club but ... "Â
Minson turned down a playing and mentoring role at Collingwood at the end of last season, instead intending to travel overseas and perhaps continue his work with indigenous youths.Â
True to his nature, Beveridge then updated the reporter and Bulldogs fans about how the club is approaching its issues in the ruck department, including when the injured Jordan Roughead is likely to return to the field.Â
Roughead is slated for a mid-season return to the top level after pre-season hamstring surgery.
