Teenager hit by truck and killed identified

A man who was hit by a truck and killed last night has been identified as 19-year-old Keysborough teenager Vishal Mahant.

Family members in India have confirmed the man killed was the former Keysborough Secondary College Student.

A Pakenham man has been charged over the death of the teenager who was struck and killed by a truck in Melbourne's south-east last night.

Police say Mr Mahant was hit as he was getting out of his car.

The 31-year-old truck driver has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and has been bailed  to the Melbourne Magistrates Court on April 12.

Police say the incident happened near Kirkham Road, Dandenong South.

The truck driver had exited the Princes Highway and was travelling along Dandenong-Frankston Road when he allegedly stuck the young man  near the rail overpass about 5.35pm on Friday.

He died at the scene.
