RAC reveals worst WA suburbs for home break-ins
Gosnells tops the list of suburbs with the highest number of home burglary insurance claims in 2016, according to the RAC.
The five worst performing suburbs with the most home burglary insurance claims for 2016 were:
1: Gosnells (66 claims)
2: Morley (63 claims)
3: Thornlie (56 claims)
4: Balga (53 claims); and
5: Dianella and Baldivis (Both with 47 claims).
East Victoria Park, Armadale (41) and Canning Vale (40) also featured in the top 10.
Northam, 97km north-east of Perth, was the worst performing regional town. It came in at 9th overall with a total of 35 home burglary insurance claims last year.
"We tend to see the same suburbs dominate our claims data with Gosnells, Morley and Thornlie consistently ranking highly in RAC's burglary claims analysis," RAC home claims manager Glen Walker said.
"Morley has continued to sit in second place for the third year running. However, Thornlie fared slightly better and now sits in third place, down from first place in 2015 and 2014."

Mr Walker said based on the 4000 plus claims, jewellery appeared to be the "number one item lifted from people's homes."
And as more people take up cycling across Perth, that in turn has also translated into a year-on-year spike in the number of bikes being stolen, Mr Walker added.
"Since 2014, we've seen a 70 per cent increase in the number of bikes taken," he said.
Mr Walker said the best advice to all homeowners was fairly simple.
"Our advice is to always lock your doors and windows and maintain your security standards even when you are home," he said.
"Using a range of home security measures and having a home alarm can also act as a big deterrent and save you money on your insurance premium.
"Also, make sure your home contents and valuables are covered, with the right level of cover, so in the event of a theft you aren't left out of pocket and can replace what you've lost."
WA Police figures show there were 18,405 home burglaries across WA between last July and February this year.
There were more than 28,000 in 2015/16.
Police in some of the hardest hit suburbs, like Gosnells, have been having some success of late in targeting burglars. Many of those arrested are young men, still in their teens.
Gosnells Local Policing Team officers charged two teenagers last month over a string of burglaries in the district.
Stolen property including jewellery, laptops and mobile phones were seized as they were arrested.
On Wednesday, Armadale Detectives charged a 17-year-old man over a string of burglary and motor vehicle thefts across Shoalwater, Cardup, Wellard, Serpentine and Roleystone.
