UNDP's Executive Board welcomed the appointment of Achim Steiner as the organization’s new Administrator. Over nearly three decades, Mr. Steiner has been a global leader on sustainable development, climate resilience and international cooperation. He has worked tirelessly to champion sustainability, economic growth and equality for the vulnerable, and has been a vocal advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals. He replaces Helen Clark, who served two successive terms as UNDP Administrator.

The commissioning of documentary films is part of the Green Hub Festival from 13 to 15 May, at Tezpur Assam. New Study: Renewables Could Power 25% of Indian Railways by 2025

UNDP India Country Director Jaco Cilliers spoke at the conference, 'Decarbonising the Indian Railways'. A new study launched at the conference found that the Indian Railways could achieve the target of 5 GW of solar by 2025. Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister for Railways, and Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines, released the study and delivered keynote addresses.
