Two people were arrested Tuesday after three girls told authorities that they have been imprisoned in an Arizona home for possibly the past two years.
Tucson police said the girls are siblings -- ages 12, 13 and 17 -- and their mother and stepfather have been arrested in a case that's being investigated as alleged child abuse and imprisonment.
Police said a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of three counts of kidnapping, three counts of child abuse-emotional abuse and three counts of child abuse-physical abuse.
The man also was accused of one count of sexual abuse of a person under age 15, according to police, who didn't immediately know Tuesday night if the couple had attorneys.
The Associated Press is not naming the adults to avoid identifying the children.
Tucson Police Capt. Michael Gillooly said at a news conference that all three girls were malnourished and dirty, and they told officers they hadn't taken a bath in up to six months.
"They were kept in filthy living conditions," said Gillooly, adding that the two youngest girls were kept in a separate bedroom from their 17-year-old sister.
The girls also told authorities that they were fed only once daily and had been imprisoned in their bedrooms for at least the past several months and possibly up to two years.
Police went to a midtown home on reports of a domestic violence incident about 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to Gillooly.
The two youngest girls told officers that they ran to a neighbor's home after their stepfather kicked in the door and threatened them with a knife. The unidentified neighbor called 911.
When officers went into the house, Gillooly said they found the oldest girl in another bedroom.
Gillooly declined to answer any questions about the case. More information was expected to be released Wednesday.
A resident who has lived in the neighborhood for about five years told the Arizona Daily Star that she didn't know anyone was living in the home, which is set back from the street.
The woman said there was no visible activity at the house, but other neighbors had told her that they had heard what sounded like children playing inside the house at night.
The Star reported that police removed plastic bags containing evidence from the home and what appeared to be a computer.

Two people were arrested Tuesday after three girls told authorities that they have been imprisoned in an Arizona home for possibly the past two years.
Tucson police said the girls are siblings -- ages 12, 13 and 17 -- and their mother and stepfather have been arrested in a case that's being investigated as alleged child abuse and imprisonment.
Police said a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of three counts of kidnapping, three counts of child abuse-emotional abuse and three counts of child abuse-physical abuse.
The man also was accused of one count of sexual abuse of a person under age 15, according to police, who didn't immediately know Tuesday night if the couple had attorneys.
The Associated Press is not naming the adults to avoid identifying the children.
Tucson Police Capt. Michael Gillooly said at a news conference that all three girls were malnourished and dirty, and they told officers they hadn't taken a bath in up to six months.
"They were kept in filthy living conditions," said Gillooly, adding that the two youngest girls were kept in a separate bedroom from their 17-year-old sister.
The girls also told authorities that they were fed only once daily and had been imprisoned in their bedrooms for at least the past several months and possibly up to two years.
Police went to a midtown home on reports of a domestic violence incident about 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to Gillooly.
The two youngest girls told officers that they ran to a neighbor's home after their stepfather kicked in the door and threatened them with a knife. The unidentified neighbor called 911.
When officers went into the house, Gillooly said they found the oldest girl in another bedroom.
Gillooly declined to answer any questions about the case. More information was expected to be released Wednesday.
A resident who has lived in the neighborhood for about five years told the Arizona Daily Star that she didn't know anyone was living in the home, which is set back from the street.
The woman said there was no visible activity at the house, but other neighbors had told her that they had heard what sounded like children playing inside the house at night.
The Star reported that police removed plastic bags containing evidence from the home and what appeared to be a computer.

The reality of Arizona's $10 minimum wage hike in 2017
This convenience store employee in Tucson, AZ has some things to say about the new wage hike. It is not always a good idea to increase wages and depending on how much that increase is, people are negatively affected. The Arizona minimum wage increased at the beginning of the year to $10 from $8.05, about 25 percent increase. You mean they're really good at keeping us a secret?
They excel at keeping our hotel rooms and convention spaces... empty.
Then we have TREO: Tucson Regional Economic Opportunity. TREO made headlines this year for the monster parties they throw in San Diego. Fly everyone out. Party down.
Why can't I go to one of their parties
They go to Austin, Portland, Huntsville, Albuquerque--all looking for that magic formula to bring in companies and jobs.
After seven years and $13 million taxpayer dollars, and another $3 million from the private sector, how is TREO doing?
Supervisor Sharon Bronson, Chair of TREO since it started makes it sound like they've brought in over 10,000 jobs.
Highly-paid TREO director Joe Snell claims 16,000 jobs.
But in reality?
The UA's Marshall Vest reported that only 800 jobs were created. While Phoenix created... 69,000 jobs.
Wait, SO... not 10,500 or 16,000?
Sharon, Snell? Can you tell me... are we making up numbers to justify our budgets before the upcoming election?
And the parties? In San Diego?
Must be the parties. CEO Magazine continues to rank Arizona among the Top Ten states to do business in.
While CNN ranks Pima County as one of the worst places to do business.
In Arizona?
In the entire country.
We're right down there with... Detroit.
Proud yet?

Tucson Meet Yourself is an annual festival celebrating the culture, food, tradition and arts of Southern Arizona and Northern Mexico. It was founded 40 years ago by University of Arizona College of Social & Behavioral Sciences anthropologist James "Big Jim" Griffith. Visitors to this year's festival were able to try foods from 53 different vendors and experience the work of 557 folk artists, musicians and dancers from more than 60 different cultural groups.

Hey everybody!! For this food challenge I'm at Lindy's On 4th in Tucson, Arizona. I'll be taking on their 3lb OMFG Burger Challenge and trying to get my second victory in the state of Arizona. I had been wanting to attempt this challenge for a while and I was finally able to get down there!! This challenge was featured on Man v. Food: Tucson, Arizona a few years ago and I had heard that Lindy's burgers were super delicious!!

Lindy's On 4th's OMFG Burger Challenge ($38):
The burger consists of NINE 1/3 pound burger patties stacked and layered with delicious cheese. The burger also includes lettuce, onions, and tomatoes, all served between a regular sized bun. There are no sides included with the burger. If you can finish the burger within 20 minutes, you'll get the meal free along with your name and photo posted up on the Wall of Fame. If you finish in less than 30 minutes, you still get your name and photo posted up on their Wall of Fame, but you don't get the meal for free. Thousands of people have attempted this challenge since it appeared on Man v. Food: Tucson, but only a small percentage of people have actually able to finish within the quick 20 minute time limit.

Mumbai. Andheri Police took action arresting 15 boys accused of raping and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old for the past one year.
