Idlib (Arabic: ادلب, also spelled Edlib or Idleb) is a city in northwestern Syria, capital of the Idlib Governorate, and 59 kilometers (37 mi) south west of Aleppo. It has an elevation of nearly 500 meters (1,600 ft) above sea level. In the 2004 census by the Central Bureau of Statistics, Idlib had a population of 98,791 (2004 census) and in 2010 the population of Idlib was around 165,000 (2010 census). The inhabitants are overwhelmingly Sunni Muslims, although there is a significant Christian minority. Idlib is divided into six main districts: Ashrafiyeh (the most populous), Hittin, Hejaz, Downtown, Hurriya, and al-Qusur.
A major agricultural center of Syria, the Idlib area is also historically significant, containing many "dead cities" and man-made tells. Idlib contains the ancient city of Ebla, once the capital of a powerful kingdom. ancient kingdoms of Nuhašše and Luhuti flourished in the Governorate during the Bronze and Iron ages.
During the Ottoman era of rule in Syria, between the 16th and 19th centuries, Idlib served as the capital of a kada ("subdistrict capital") bearing its name, part of the larger Vilayet of Aleppo ("Province of Aleppo.") The city was a center of olive production, which in turn gave way to a prosperous olive-based soap industry. Although the major markets for Idlib's soap were at Aleppo, Antioch, and Hama, the product was exported as far as the Ottoman capital of Istanbul. Idlib was also a major producer of cotton fabrics. Western traveler Josias Leslie Porter noted that Idlib was "encompassed in olive groves, rare in this bleak region." He further remarked that its olives groves were larger than those of Damascus, Beirut, and Gaza. In the mid-19th-century, the town had an estimated population of 8,000, including 500 Christians. In the late 19th-century, Idlib was "flourishing" and contained a number of Christian families, according to German writers working for Karl Baedeker.
Idlib Governorate (Arabic: مُحافظة ادلب / ALA-LC: Muḥāfaẓat Idlib) is one of the fourteen governorates (provinces) of Syria. It is situated in northwestern Syria, bordering Turkey. Its area depends on sources - estimated vary from 5,933 km² to 6,097 km². The Governorate has a population of 1,464,000 (2010 estimate). The capital is Idlib.
The governorate is divided into five districts (manatiq):
These are further divided into sub-districts (nawahi).

Syria (i/ˈsɪ.rɪə/; Arabic: سوريا or سورية, Sūriyā or Sūrīyah), officially the Syrian Arab Republic, is a country in Western Asia. De jure Syrian territory borders Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea to the west, Turkey to the north, Iraq to the east, Jordan to the south, and Israel to the southwest, but the government's control now extends to approximately 30–40% of the de jure state area and less than 60% of the population.
A country of fertile plains, high mountains, and deserts, Syria is home to diverse ethnic and religious groups, including Syrian Arabs, Greeks, Armenians, Assyrians, Kurds, Circassians,Mandeans and Turks. Religious groups include Sunnis, Christians, Alawites, Druze, Mandeans, Shiites, Salafis, and Yazidis. Sunni Arabs make up the largest population group in Syria.
In English, the name "Syria" was formerly synonymous with the Levant (known in Arabic as al-Sham), while the modern state encompasses the sites of several ancient kingdoms and empires, including the Eblan civilization of the 3rd millennium BC. Its capital Damascus is among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. In the Islamic era, Damascus was the seat of the Umayyad Caliphate and a provincial capital of the Mamluk Sultanate in Egypt.

US B-52 bombed Idlib, Syria, killing over 20 civilians – Russian MoD
An airstrike on Syria’s Idlib province has killed at least 30 members of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terror group formerly known as al-Nusra Front. The so-called Syrian observatory for human rights says unidentified aircraft hit one of the group's most important bases in Syria on Tuesday. The London-based monitor also says leading members of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham are among the dead. The terror group has on social media confirmed the casualties blaming the attack on the so-called US-led coalition against Daesh. The air raid came five days after a Russian-Turkish brokered Syria ceasefire deal took effect in the country. However, the truce accord does not apply to UN-designated terrorist organizations including Daesh and Nusra Front. Watch Live: http://www.presstv.com/live.html Twitter: h...

Swedish Doctors for Human Rights compiled footage of terrorists executing prisoners –soldiers belonging to the Republic of Syria's Army. After the Syrian army succeeded in recapture Aleppo, the government bused thousands of militants and their families to Idlib. Prof Ferrada de Noli [@ProfessorsBlogg], chair of SWEDHR asked about these two items on Twitter: 1) Why the 'militants' are being carried to Idlib instead of being transported to a court of law? 2) Is it not obvious that US and Turkey pushed for a ceasefire in Aleppo because they needed to redeploy the "rebels" in Idbil? Syrian authorities say they are looking for the fate of the crew of a military helicopter which crashed in an area controlled by foreign-backed militants. They say the copter went down after experiencing malfunction near the town of Maarat al-Numan in Idlib province. Militants loyal to the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra front are active in the area. An armature video posted on the internet shows the militants inspecting the chopper’s wreckage. They claim to have captured all the staff. and i have found a word for it: Efficiency! After the fall of the city of Idlib in March, united rebels from many groups go southward to Jisr al-Shughour, encircle a large army units between Idlib and Jisr and ambushed several convoys in the Ghab plain in a rain of TOW, see here some examples. Finally, they captured the last point the "Brick factory" army base there with large ammunition stockpiles. The rebels have also used a curious tactic there, they take a BMPs and fill it with 6 or more tons of explosives into a remote-controlled ultimate roll bomb. The driver survived all attacks and destroyed three major checkpoints there, the al-Saman barricade, al-Khazanat camp and al-Qarmid camp. Era um, era dois, era cem,
Era o mundo chegando
E ninguém que soubesse que eu sou violeiro,
Que me desse amor ou dinheiro.
Era um, era dois, era cem,
Vieram pra me perguntar:
"E você, de onde vai, de onde vem?
Diga logo o que tem pra contar."
Parado no meio do mundo
Senti chegar meu momento.
Olhei pro mundo e nem via
Nem sombra, nem sol, nem vento.
Quem me dera agora eu tivesse a viola pra cantar!
Era um dia, era claro, quase meio,
Era um canto calado, sem ponteio,
Violência, viola, violeiro.
Era a morte ao redor, mundo inteiro,
Era um dia, era claro, quase meio.
Tinha um que jurou me quebrar
Mas não lembro de dor nem receio,
Só sabia das ondas do mar.
Jogaram a viola no mundo
Mas fui lá no fundo buscar,
Se tomo a viola, ponteio,
Meu canto não posso parar, não!
Quem me dera agora eu tivesse a viola pra cantar!
Era um, era dois, era cem,
Era um dia, era claro, quase meio.
Encerrar meu cantar já convém,
Prometendo um novo ponteio.
Certo dia que sei por inteiro,
Eu espero não vá demorar,
Esse dia estou certo que vem,
Digo logo que vem pra buscar.
Correndo no meio do mundo,
Não deixo a viola de lado,
Vou ver o tempo mudado
E um novo lugar pra cantar.
Quem me dera agora eu tivesse a viola pra cantar!
