The Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand (SPRINZ) is New Zealand’s number one rated sports research institute. We are a group of dynamic and innovative researchers producing applied research in human health and sport performance. Each collaborative research group collectively contributes to the ever-expanding research, education and industry engagement.

In 2016 AUT was promoted from a four to a five star University by the QS World University Rankings. In sub-categories AUT received five out of five stars for teaching, internationalisation, employability, and inclusion, with four stars for social responsibility and three stars for research. The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) have ranked universities for Sports Science and placed AUT University at number 29 in the world and the only NZ University in the top fifty.  Sports Science joins AUT's world ranked subjects on the QS list, which are Art and Design, Accounting and Finance, Communications and Media, Computer Science and IT, and Education. In the research indicator, AUT scored full marks for academic reputation, which assesses the number of international and domestic academic referees endorsing the university.

AUT Millennium Clinics are for athletes and the community who are interested in accessing a range of services for improving sports performance and bridging the gap between the medical community and fitness industry.
