Afterwards we head to a place called Canusciuti Sicilian Cafe to try a couple of different types of Arancine.
Not far from the cafe we came across an ancient Roman (Greek?) amphitheatre so made our way inside to check it out. We then headed to the main square in Catania where we saw the main cath...

Catania, also called the "black city", is the second largest city in the region of Sicily after Palermo. A volcanic eruption in 1669 and an earthquake in 1693 almost completely destroyed the city. Then, according to plans by the architect Giovanni Battista Vaccarini (1702-1768), the city was rebuilt with churches and palaces in the Baroque style of the 18th century.
Catania is located close to Mount Etna and offers a variety of sights. In the historic city centre, there is incomparable late Baroque architecture to discover, thanks to which Catania was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Cattedrale di Sant'Agata, for example, is an impressive sight with its beautiful façades, magnificently decorated interior and many works of art. In front of it, on the Piazza del Duomo, you will also find the city's landmark: a fountain with an elephant made of black lava stone (Fontana dell'Elefante).
Lava stone as a building material is visible everywhere in Catania: in palaces, homes, churches and steets. The ancient theatre and the Roman amphitheatre are also built of the black stone.
Follow me and my camera and see for yourself how impressive and varied the city is. You will find lively, exciting and artistic places as well as very quiet places that invite you to relax. I also tried to show this contrast with my choice of music and the editing. As always, I focused on the old town and left out the beaches and the harbour.
I hope you will enjoy watching. I would be happy if you give my video a "like", leave me a comment and subscribe my channel for further videos. All your feedback helps me a lot, and I can promise you to show all my passion in my upcoming videos as well. Thanks in advance for your support and a big hug!

Welcome to Catania, Sicily. In this week's video we're exploring the real Sicily. Catania is Sicily's second biggest city. A few videos ago we were in Palermo and throughout the video we'll be comparing the two cities, is Catania better than Palermo?
We start things off at a church in Catania called Chiesa di San Nicolo L'Arena. We explore inside the church but then visit the rooftop to get the best views of Catania including the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna (the most active volcano in Europe).
Afterwards we head to a place called Canusciuti Sicilian Cafe to try a couple of different types of Arancine.
Not far from the cafe we came across an ancient Roman (Greek?) amphitheatre so made our way inside to check it out. We then headed to the main square in Catania where we saw the main cathedral in the city as well as the Elephant Fountain.
One of our favourite things about Catania was discovering some more local places. We went to a place called BarnAut to get a beer. It has a very local, bohemian vibe to it.
Lastly, since we've mainly been eating Sicilian and Italian food we decided it's time for something else. We made our way to a Korean restaurant called Panda where we had a few different (and delicious) Korean dishes.
