Ian Sinclair

Ian Sinclair is the Principal Consultant with Edge Land Planning and has more than 30 years’ experience working in rural areas — 13 years in Local Government as well as 17 years as a consultant, working in development assessment and strategic planning.
He has a degree in Town Planning from UNSW and is a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia.
He is a Part-Time lecturer at the University of NSW, Faculty of the Built Environment and Macquarie University Department of Geography and Planning where he has taught rural planning, strategic planning, planning and development and environmental law.
He is a candidate for a PhD at Sydney University where he is investigating the tensions of land use planning and strategic agricultural regions on Australia’s eastern seaboard, which is creating contested landscapes. This will include horticultural production which is mostly on the metropolitan fringe and coastal areas, where population growth is causing the contestation.
