Libcom library archiving to do list

Libcom library archiving to do list

An updated list of documents and websites we would like to archive in our library.

Here are a list of links to websites and articles which we would like duplicated in our library.

This is to help ensure that as many people as possible read them, and also to ensure that the documents stay online, in case other websites disappear - as has happened to so many other radical sites in the past couple of years.

We would appreciate any help from our users in copying this stuff across. If people would like to help but don't have the technical know-how - not to worry, we can help you! Just ask in the comment section below.

Higher priority
we would like pretty much all of the content on the following links duplicated on libcom.org:
http://zerowork.org/ - articles from the journal are already all on libcom but we would like all of the supplemental materials
http://libcom.org/library/exhaustive-list-iww-pamphlets - some of these are currently hosted externally so it would be good to get them all on libcom
http://zinnedproject.org/news/page/2/ - any of the good historical texts here would be great
http://home.earthlink.net/~lrgoldner/ - break their haughty power
http://www.takver.com/history/index.htm - Australian radical history site, would be good to get all the history stuff
http://www.left-dis.nl/
http://www.generation-online.org/t/translations.htm
http://www.alphabetthreat.co.uk/pasttense/page2.html
http://www.marxists.org/history/spain/spanishrevolution/index.htm - it would be great to get all of these individual issues up in our incomplete archive which is here: http://libcom.org/library/spanish-revolution-newspaper
http://libcom.org/forums/history/living-marxism-archive-06062014 - would be good to get this archive in the library
http://www.connexions.org/RedMenace.htm Would be great to get the rest of these in our red Menace archive here: http://libcom.org/library/red-menace
http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/Anarchist_Archives/goldman/ME/me.html - Mother Earth
http://forworkerspower.wordpress.com/category/the-solidarity-group/ - anything here by Solidarity would be great
http://www.rebeller.se/English.html - We have most of this but there are one or two texts we still don't have which would be good
http://kommunismus.narod.ru/books.html - the English stuff here would be the priority, but the foreign-language stuff would be good as well
http://libcom.org/library/kurasje-documents - having these file attachments added to the library as individual articles would be great
http://muse.jhu.edu/journals/journal_of_the_history_of_youth_and_childhood/summary/v004/4.2.getman-eraso.html - about youth groups in the Spanish revolution
http://gurgaonworkersnews.wordpress.com/workers-history/

Lower priority
The following websites contain some useful texts. We would like any decent, relevant ones which we do not host already to be copied into our library, but the higher priority ones above are preferred for the time being.
http://anarchalibrary.blogspot.co.uk/ - we have most of this already but anything missing would be good
www.midnightnotes.org
www.revoltagainstplenty.com
http://www.againstsleepandnightmare.com/
http://www.nestormakhno.info/english/index.htm
http://www.spunk.org/index.html
theanarchistlibrary.org
http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/Anarchist_Archives/
http://www.bastardarchive.org/
zinelibrary.info
http://www.seesharppress.com/textsonline.html
http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/d#a2015 - any John Dos Passos novels with radical content/themes would be good, some here
http://www.bibliothekderfreien.de/lidiap/eng/index.htm - any decent publications from these ones online would be great duplicated on libcom
http://newsandletters.org/WritingsofRD.asp
http://www.arpnet.it/chaos/flexibility.htm - this text would be good
http://www.sojournertruth.net/main.html
http://bigflameuk.wordpress.com/
http://marxists.org/history/erol/ncm-1/index.htm
http://caringlabor.wordpress.com/2010/12/04/the-young-lords-reader-health-and-hospitals/

New content
The following websites are active and continually having new content posted. As such, duplicating content from them is not as high a priority, however we would still like to duplicate new additions or older articles from these websites as they come out eventually:
www.insurgentnotes.org
http://faridabadmajdoorsamachar.blogspot.com/
http://gurgaonworkersnews.wordpress.com/ Gurgaon workers news
http://www.katesharpleylibrary.net/
http://ngnm.vrahokipos.net/translations.html

Underway
These sites are currently being copied over. However, help with them would still be appreciated. Post in the comments below for more information

Thanks for making a new post!

I took on Kate Sharpley and am doing both The Red Menace (Canada) and various stuff I think would be related to the US study group thing that's popped up.

However, in a week, I'll be moving to a different city and will have no internet access, so after the 23rd, my contributions are probably going to cease for a while.

i'll do that libero asian anarchist one, definitely.

Steven.
Jan 16 2011 15:34

Spartacus, that would be great, thanks.

Juan, thanks for that, that's been great. With KSL, as that is a currently active and live site that is probably a lower priority for us at the moment.

That's a shame about your Internet access - you've been our most prolific contributor of late, and it's much appreciated. But your break is well-deserved! If you have some spare time when you're bored though, one thing you can do when off-line (I do this at work) is get PDFs from the library (or long texts from elsewhere) and format them in text format in word. Then you could e-mail them to us or upload them at a later date.

This isn't me trying to put pressure on you, just saying there is still plenty of stuff which can be done off-line.

Hopefully one of collective action notes will help archive the remainder of their own stuff

Yeah, I could try and do that. I'll look through the library for stuff that's just on PDF. I know I have some PDFs on my desktop, too that would be worth converting and putting on here, as well.

Steven.
Jan 16 2011 23:22

Cool.

If you do, maybe let me know what you are doing so that I don't do the same things!

I'm going to be scanning a load of PDF documents for the library next week and putting them up, some of them are pretty good…

Steven.
Jan 17 2011 20:53

I'm going to do the Cuban revolution piece. Chapters 11-13 though are missing, so if anyone has the book and could scan them, or knows where a PDF is please let me now!

I could start making my way through generation-online (will obviously check for those that are already in the library).

Steven.
Jan 17 2011 21:24

That would be great. I think that most of them would be in the library already

Thanks for the update.

We (Sparrows' Nest collective, Nottingham, England) just put some interesting scanned material from SWF online that was donated last year by Ron of SF - see http://thesparrowsnest.org.uk and a post I just sent to the history forum.
Could maybe be talk about getting this on libcom in some form, as some point - no hurry though as we are still working on the scanning.

Still not sure what my internet access will be after today. But if I have none outside of a library's, I'll be working on putting Storming Heaven into text, since I have it on PDF. I could send it formated for the library to one of you admins or just put it up when I have the time. I'll have a better idea of what will work for me tomorrow.

Hope you don't mind, but I've uploaded a pdf version of it here: http://libcom.org/library/storming-heaven-class-composition-struggle-italian-autonomist-marxism-steve-wright

I think it would be fantastic if you could get a properly formatted version up though!

Jan 23 2011 14:22

Yeah, that would be brilliant.

Good luck with the move!

when i click on them they work like normal pdf's, they download. but they're made of image's not text.

Steven.
Feb 5 2011 21:14

Yeah, I just meant it would be good to have all the PDFs here, probably in a book with a chapter for each volume

Steven.
Feb 21 2011 14:46

Possibly also this (although not a priority as in Spanish)

i think my eyes have melted from staring at html and bbcode for too long, but i just finished putting all the libero international/asian anarchism articles up.

Steven.

Amazing, thank you! Now rest your eyes! I dream in BB code sometimes…

Ill do the articles on Constantinos Speras and the Boatmen of Thessaloniki. I should put them in the library section rather than history, yeah?

Steven.
Mar 5 2011 11:18

That would be great, thanks! If they are articles about historical events or people they can go in as history articles (although it doesn't really make much difference one way or the other)

Hope its not too much of a tangent, but why is there a distinction between library and history, if it doesn't make a difference?

well, it does make a difference, but what I meant was we can quickly edit articles to change their section if they are in the wrong one.

I was just looking around the backup of the old Subversion site, and I see that a lot of the articles which were previously on it seems to have been put up:
http://www.reocities.com/athens/acropolis/8195/
any help copying across anything missing would be much appreciated! DONE

Steven.
May 26 2011 17:34

Also, looks like another website started backing up old GeoCities ones:
http://www.oocities.org/aufheben2/11.html

so we may be able to rescue some of the stuff we missed from the old GeoCities archiving thread
edit: actually, looking at it looks like we only missed one website but still:

Steven.
Jun 10 2011 07:44

BTW I'm doing the rest of the subversion site now

Added the stuff from http://ngnm.vrahokipos.net/translations.html but they add stuff sporadically so best to keep an eye on it.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but here's a large collection of Raya Dunayevskaya writings from News & Letters.

http://newsandletters.org/WritingsofRD.asp

I've finally started on the generation-online library. There's a lot of articles not in the libcom library, but I am wondering whether all of them should be uploaded (e.g. Bifo's articles, Foucault, Agamben etc.). Can one of the mods (I guess Steven) let me know if I should just upload all of it or be selective?

Steven.
Jun 24 2011 23:15

Hi, thanks very much for that.

Regarding what to upload, I would use your discretion. In general I would say stick with stuff that is explicitly libcom, or of significant interest to libcoms, like operaismo stuff or whatever.

More general philosophical articles like Foucault, I would say not to bother with unless they are of specific libcom interest and aren't online many other places.

Thanks so much!

Khawaga
Jun 25 2011 18:12

Ok, will do. There's a lot that doesn't really need to go up in the libcom library.
