Victoria University has been approved by the Department of Home Affairs to receive Training Benchmark A contributions.

If your business sponsors a non-Australian citizen to work in Australia on a Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457), our Scholarship Fund will help you meet your Training Benchmark A requirements, with your contribution going to local students to assist with their education and training.

The training fund study area must correspond to the skill shortage that your business is seeking to fill. For example, if you are a law firm sponsoring an IT specialist, the study area will need to be IT.

Overview of 457 visa requirements

The Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) allows skilled workers to relocate to Australia and work for an approved business for up to four years.

To be approved as a sponsor of subclass 457 visas, and employ workers on that visa, your business must meet one of two training benchmarks set by the Department of Home Affairs.

These require that your business invests in training Australians to meet long-term skills shortages while employing non-Australian citizens to fill current shortages.

Your organisation may make this investment via Training Benchmark A: contributing financially to an approved training provider, such as VU.
