Stephen Khan is The Conversation’s Editor in the UK. He was a news editor at The Guardian and previously Deputy Foreign Editor of The Independent, Scotland Editor of The Observer and also worked for The Sunday Herald in Scotland.

Jo Adetunji

Deputy Editor

Before joining The Conversation UK, Jo Adetunji worked as a reporter and editor at the Guardian, covering stories from UK knife crime to the Arab Spring. She previously edited the Guardian's health and social care networks and has also written for The Times, The Independent and Telegraph newspapers.

Matt Warren

Deputy Editor

Before joining The Conversation as Executive Editor, Matt Warren was a magazine editor and features executive on The Daily Mail.

Jonathan Este

Associate Editor

Jonathan Este spent 20 years as a reporter, columnist and editor on The Independent as well as The Australian. He joins The Conversation from the Media Alliance in Australia where he specialised in media law and policy and the digital revolution in journalism.

Annabel Bligh

Business + Economy Editor

Annabel joins The Conversation from a background in broadcast journalism. She was previously a radio news show producer at digital station Monocle 24 covering a wide array of international issues.

Joel Dimmock

Senior Commissioning Editor

Joel Dimmock spent 15 years as a journalist and editor at Reuters and AFP covering the banking and fund management industries. Most recently he was writing and publishing Reuters' investment strategy news and analysis. He has also worked on the Daily Mirror news desk.

Holly Squire

Commissioning Editor

Holly joins The Conversation from a background in broadcast journalism and magazine publishing. She spent three years working as a reporter and editor on a number of business publications focusing on housing, the environment and health. Before this, she worked for the BBC as a journalist and researcher. She is based in York.

Will de Freitas

Environment + Energy Editor

Will de Freitas helped to establish The Conversation in the UK. Previously, he worked on data projects for the Guardian's Global Development website, and for three years worked in ministerial offices at Whitehall.

Laura Hood

Politics Editor, Assistant Editor

Laura worked for more than five years as a reporter and news editor for Research Fortnight, a specialist publication focusing on science, technology and higher education policy. She also worked as a reporter for Research Europe, covering French higher education policy and European policy in areas including space and innovation.

Josephine Lethbridge

Arts + Culture Editor

Josephine joined The Conversation as Arts + Culture Editor after an internship through the summer of 2013. She has an MA in English Literature from the University of Glasgow, and is a trustee of the Queille Trust, which organises a biennial arts festival and aims to support the careers of emerging performers.

Andrew Naughtie

International Editor

Andrew comes from a social science background, and studied and worked in the US. Before joining The Conversation, he worked on projects spanning behavioural economics, ethnography for public policy, and commercial qualitative research.

Michael Parker

Technology Editor

A journalist and photographer, Michael has covered everything from crime to culture for British newspapers and magazines, and was formerly associate editor at The Big Issue in London before leaving to write North American travel guides. He founded an IT company specialising in Linux and open source software before entering journalism.

Miriam Frankel

Science Editor

Miriam worked for four years as a reporter and news editor of Research Fortnight, a specialist publication focusing on science, technology and higher education policy. She has previously written for publications including New Scientist, Nature and Physics World. She also has a background as a PhD student in atomic physics, specialising in laboratory astrophysics.

Gemma Ware

Society Editor

Before joining The Conversation, Gemma worked for over five years as assistant editor at the Paris-based The Africa Report magazine where she focused on business, technology and education. She previously wrote about fundraising and UK charity policy at Civil Society Media.

Steven Vass

Scotland Editor

Steven Vass joined The Conversation in February 2014 after nearly 10 years at the Sunday Herald, first as media correspondent and then as deputy business editor, where he wrote about most aspects of business but particularly energy, the economy and the financial crisis. He previously spent several years as a VSO volunteer in Zambia and several more as a media analyst in London.

Ruth Dawson

Wales Editor

Ruth comes from a background in the Welsh media, most recently working at the South Wales Evening Post. Before this, she worked as editor of a respected automotive industry publication. She is based in Cardiff.

Stephen Harris

Commissioning + Science Editor

Stephen covers science, technology and health for The Conversation. He previously spent five years as senior reporter and special projects editor at The Engineer, the world's oldest technology magazine and professional journal.

Luke Salkeld

Commissioning Editor

Luke has worked as a journalist in the UK national press for 14 years, including a decade at the Daily Mail as a reporter and news editor. He is based in Bristol.

Paul Keaveny

Commissioning Editor

Paul has been a journalist for 16 years, working most recently as a news reporter for The Sun covering the north of England. Before that he worked as a multimedia journalist at The Press Association covering breaking news, court cases and major events. Paul began his career as a local newspaper reporter and crime correspondent and also works for the BBC. He is based in Manchester.

Emily Lindsay Brown

Emily graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2014 with an MA in Philosophy and English Literature. She joined The Conversation in 2015, after gaining experience with Press Data Ltd, the St James Ethics Centre and student newspaper The Journal. She is currently undertaking an MSc in Media and Communications at the LSE.

Clint Witchalls

Health + Medicine Editor

Clint has worked as a freelance journalist for the past 15 years. He has covered health, science and technology for The Economist, Intelligent Life, Newsweek, New Scientist, The Guardian and The Independent. He also wrote a book about his year as a clinical trial "guinea pig" for the male pill called Die Pille und Ich (Rowohlt). Clint holds an MSc in creative non-fiction writing from Imperial College London.

Caroline Southey

Previously Caroline was editor of the Financial Mail in South Africa. Prior to that she worked for the Financial Times in London and Brussels in various roles over 17 years including as World Desk Editor and as a foreign correspondent covering European Union agriculture and social policy.

Julius Maina

Regional Editor East Africa

Julius was previously managing editor of a number of Kenyan national daily and weekly newspaper titles under the Nation Media Group and The Standard Group in Nairobi, among them the Saturday Nation. He was the founding editor of Drum East Africa magazine and has also worked as a senior editor in Tanzania.

Candice Bailey

Health + Medicine Editor

Candice worked as an investigative journalist at the Johannesburg-based civil society organisation Corruption Watch. She has also been a reporter in the newsrooms of several weekly and daily national newspapers, most recently the Sunday Independent and Johannesburg Star newspaper.

Joy Wanja Muraya

Health + Medicine Editor

Joy is a science and health enthusiast. Over the past 10 years she has worked at the Daily Nation and Standard Newspapers in Kenya as a senior health and science writer. She has a Masters of Public Health from Moi University and is a past winner of various health awards and fellowships. These included being named the African Story Challenge fellow in 2014 and best reporter awards from the Media Council of Kenya and at both media organisations she worked for.

Natasha Joseph

Natasha worked as news editor of City Press for three years before joining The Conversation Africa. She has freelanced for a range of publications, including Al Jazeera English, The Atlantic and The Big Issue. After obtaining her Bachelor of Journalism at Rhodes University in 2003, she worked for the Cape Times as a general reporter before joining the Cape Argus as news editor in 2009. She is a contributing editor to the Index on Censorship.

Ozayr Patel

Environment + Energy Editor

Ozayr previously worked as a television and online producer with a special focus on sport at independent television and online news agency, e News Channel Africa. Prior to that he was employed as a content controller for the Supersport website.

Thabo Leshilo

Politics + Society Editor

Thabo is a journalist and editor with 23 years’ experience in newspapers. He is the former editor of the Pretoria News, Sowetan, Sunday World and Business Times. His main areas of interest are human rights, education, politics, labour, transport and small business development. He is a past winner of the Sanlam Business Journalist of the Year Award (small business section). He was a 2008/2009 Nieman Fellow (Harvard University).

Charles Leonard

Arts + Culture Editor

Charles was news editor at the Mail & Guardian for four years before joining us. As a reporter, producer, news editor and executive producer with 29 years of experience, he has worked at a variety of South African publications and broadcasters including Business Day, the SABC TV, SAfm, Vrye Weekblad and the Sunday Times. He has also worked for the UK's Channel Four News. He has written extensively on arts, culture, politics and sport.

Sibonelo Radebe

Sibonelo has been a journalist for about 20 years with a focus on business and economic areas. He has worked for national titles in South Africa such as the Business Day, Financial Mail and The New Age. Prior to joining The Conversation Africa, he worked for the National Empowerment Fund, a South African development finance institution.

Juliet Masiga

Peace + Security Editor

At heart, Julie is a human rights proponent with a specific interest in women, leadership and governance. She has vast experience in writing and editing for both newspapers and magazines in the East African region, including titles under the Nation Media Group, the Standard Group and East Africa Magazines. She hosts a weekly political and current affairs talk show on KTN News in Nairobi and writes a weekly governance column for The Standard Newspaper. Julie studied law at the University of Sheffield in the UK and has a Certificate in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Lindiwe Malindi

Lindiwe is a student at the University of the Witwatersrand studying towards an Masters degree in Sociology. She previously completed a Masters in Development Studies at the University of Granada in Spain. Prior to that she completed her undergraduate degree in literature and theatre, and an honour degree in African Studies at the University of Cape Town. She has worked as a workshop facilitator, copy editor and project co-ordinator in civil society.

Samantha Spooner

Samantha is a journalist, researcher and editor. She has extensive online media experience and has written widely on a variety of pan-African issues having previously worked for Africa Review and Mail & Guardian Africa based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has also contributed to a range of titles including the Daily Nation, the East African, the World Economic Forum and Citiscope.

Shallan Govender

Shallan has over ten years’ experience in the media and corporate communications sectors. Most recently she worked as a senior sub editor at eNews Channel Africa. Prior to that she played integral roles specialising in internal communications at major firms such as Unilever, ABI and Altech. Charis Palmer

Deputy Editor

Charis joined The Conversation as News Editor in 2012 after working as editor of Business Spectator, where she was also founding editor of Technology Spectator. She later served as editor of iTnews and has also run her own publishing business focused on the banking sector. Charis returned to The Conversation in 2013 as Deputy Business Editor.

Liz Minchin

Executive Editor

Liz is a Walkley award-winning journalist and author, with two decades of experience in newspapers, radio and online. Liz is now Executive Editor, a newly-created role that includes leading The Conversation’s national training program, which teaches pitching, writing and public engagement skills to academics and researchers; working with the senior editing team; and public presentations and outreach for member organisations. She joined The Conversation in 2012 as its first Queensland Editor.

Megan Clement

Megan Clement has been with The Conversation since its launch in 2011. In Australia she worked on the environment, science and politics desks, winning a Human Rights Media Award for her work with Sharon Pickering on asylum seekers. She was Deputy Editor of The Conversation UK from its launch in 2013 until 2015. Megan is now working on the launch of The Conversation Global. She is based in Paris.

Suzy Freeman-Greene

Suzy is a former features editor, news editor and arts editor at The Age, where she wrote a regular oped column for many years. She has taught journalism at the University of Melbourne, freelanced in New York and contributed to academic journals such as Meanjin.

Madeleine de Gabriele

Deputy Editor: Arts + Culture

Madeleine graduated from Deakin University with a degree in media and communication. She returns to The Conversation after an internship in the Politics + Society section in 2014, and several stints in the Arts + Culture section during 2015.

Sunanda Creagh

Before joining The Conversation, Sunanda Creagh worked as a political and general news correspondent in the Reuters Jakarta bureau. Prior to that, she was a reporter at The Sydney Morning Herald, where she covered politics, urban affairs, arts, features and sport.

Lucinda Beaman

Deputy Fact Check Editor

Lucinda has 13 years’ experience reporting for leading Australian and international publications and websites, with a background in financial and world news. As a journalist for The Times in Sydney, Lucinda reported on breaking Australian and foreign news for a global audience. Prior to that, she spent 10 years covering the Australian financial services sector for a range of publications, working as a reporter, editor, video producer and presenter.

Jenni Henderson

Before starting at The Conversation Jenni worked on the Mindframe national media initiative, helping journalists report on mental illness and suicide. She has also worked for a number of years in radio, online and television journalism for the ABC and for Reuters at the Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur bureaus.

Josh joins The Conversation after stints in print, radio and online. His background in politics, philosophy and economics positions him to tackle issues from a variety of disciplines.

John Watson

Section Editor: Cities + Policy

John joined The Conversation in December 2013 as politics & society editor. After two years in that role, he took up the new position of cities & policy editor. John has worked in the news media since he decided in the mid-1980s that a life tracking elephants (in the process of gaining an honours degree in ecology) was less interesting than being a journalist in apartheid-era South Africa. His residence was soon revoked and he returned to Australia. He joined The Conversation after nearly two decades with The Age as an editor, writer and columnist.

Michael Hopkin

Section Editor: Energy + Environment

Based in Perth, Michael joined The Conversation after several years as a journalist with Fairfax, Sky News and The West Australian. Before moving to Australia from his native UK, he was a senior news and features writer for Nature.

James Whitmore

James joined The Conversation after graduating from University of Melbourne. He has been sub-editor, feature writer and wildlife columnist for Farrago, and has presented on SYN community radio.

Fronscesca Jackson-Webb

Fron joined The Conversation in March 2011 from the Australian Medical Association, where she managed the Victorian media office. She previously worked for BBC Magazines in London and Melbourne consultancy Twenty20 Communications.

Alexandra Hansen

Alexandra has worked in various media and journalism roles in Melbourne, London, and Jakarta. Prior to joining The Conversation she worked at Foreign Policy Think Tank, the Australia India Institute at The University of Melbourne.

Anna Evangeli

Anna is a specialist medical and science journalist, has edited online science news at the ABC and taught journalism at two universities. She has degrees in biochemistry and journalism, and her freelance work has appeared in outlets including the Sydney Morning Herald, New Scientist (UK) and the Financial Times newsletters. She is also an award winning blogger and travel writer.

Sarah Keenihan

Sarah joined The Conversation in October 2016. She previously worked as a freelance science writer and editor, in science communication and as an immunology researcher in Australia and Indonesia. She has a PhD and a Graduate Diploma in Sciences Communication.

Sasha Petrova

Sasha joined The Conversation in 2015 after working for the Centralian Advocate - a newspaper in Alice Springs - where she was the health and education reporter. Prior to that, she completed a Masters in Journalism and International Relations and wrote regular freelance pieces for various Australian publications.

Amanda Dunn

Prior to joining The Conversation, Amanda was a reporter and editor with The Age for 16 years, covering health, education, social policy, pop culture and the arts. She was also news and features editor for The Sunday Age, which included overseeing the paper's coverage of the 2007 federal election.

Michael Courts

A graduate of Melbourne University's media and communications program, Michael returns to The Conversation after a successful internship on the Politics + Society desk in 2012 where he worked on the site's US elections coverage.

Claire Shaw

Section Editor: Education

Claire is former deputy editor of The Guardian's Higher Education Network. She was runner up for outstanding higher education journalism in 2014 and shortlisted for journalist of the year in the Mind media awards 2014 for her coverage around mental health in universities. She previously freelanced for CNN and the Times Educational supplement.

Michael Lund

Section Editor: Science + Technology

Michael has been a journalist for many years and worked for the BBC, ABC and more recently as a feature writer for The Courier-Mail, based in Brisbane. He has won several awards and commendations for his work including a highly commended in the Walkley Awards. Michael has also worked as a tutor and lecturer in journalism with Queensland University of Technology. He has a long interest in science and technology and holds a BSc (hons) in Mathematics and Physics and a MSc in Pure Mathematics.

Tim Dean

Tim has been a science and technology writer and editor for over 15 years. His work has appeared in print and online in numerous outlets around the world, and he has been the editor of Cosmos, Australian Life Scientist and PC & Tech Authority magazines. He also holds a doctorate in philosophy.

Prodita Sabarini

Before joining The Conversation, Prodita worked for 7 years as a reporter for the Jakarta-based English daily The Jakarta Post. In 2013-2014, she was the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for International Studies. As Neuffer fellow, Prodita also wrote for The Boston Globe and The New York Times.

Debbie Dickinson

Head of audience engagement

Debbie Dickinson joins The Conversation having run national and international digital media campaigns, including for the Australian Government on the carbon price, and for the UK Government's UN climate negotiations in Copenhagen. She previously worked as a strategic policy advisor at London's Sustainable Development Commission, and at the Amsterdam-based non-profit, the Global Reporting Initiative.

Molly Glassey

Audience Development Manager

Molly Glassey graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a degree in Journalism, majoring in Law. Since graduating, she has worked as a features writer for Concrete Playground and was the court and crime reporter for The Warwick Daily News. She spent 2015 in Germany freelancing and studying German and Arabic. Molly returns to The Conversation after interning and working on the Arts + Culture desk in 2014.

Emil Jeyaratnam

Emil has a background in documentary post-production and has credits on documentaries for the ABC, SBS, and BBC, amongst others. He has completed a Graduate Diploma of Journalism at La Trobe University, where he co-edited its online magazine, and after a brief stint at Business Spectator, he joins The Conversation as the Multimedia Editor.

Wes Mountain

Deputy Multimedia Editor

Wes joined The Conversation in late 2015. In the past he has written for Crikey, Junkee and the Centre for Advancing Journalism’s The Citizen. He is also a cartoonist and has had cartoons featured in the Museum of Australian Democracy’s annual best of Australian political cartoons exhibition, Behind the Lines.

Reema Rattan

Series + Specials Editor

Reema Rattan is currently on a six-month secondment to The Conversation Global, where her focus is on North and South-East Asia, and the Pacific. She joined The Conversation before the launch of the Australian site in 2011 and helped the company set up. She was Health + Medicine editor for four years before becoming the Series + Specials editor. Reema has worked in the research sector in Sydney and Melbourne, and was previously sub-editor at The Korea Times and the International Herald Tribune's local supplement in Seoul.

Didier Pourquery

Directeur de la rédaction

Diplômé de Sciences Po Paris et de l’ESSEC, Didier débuta sa carrière dans l’industrie pendant six ans. Journaliste économique à Libération puis au journal Le Monde de 1983 à 1990, il fut successivement rédacteur en chef à Sciences & Vie Économie, La Tribune, InfoMatin, Prisma Presse et L'Expansion. Directeur des rédactions de Metro en France depuis son lancement en 2002 jusqu’en 2006, il travailla ensuite sur le projet Bild France d’Axel Springer avant de prendre la direction déléguée de Libération. Rédacteur en chef puis directeur adjoint au Monde de 2009 à 2014, il est l’auteur de six ouvrages touchant au monde des affaires et des médias.

Fabrice Rousselot

Fabrice a passé une grande partie de sa carrière comme correspondant à l'étranger pour Libération avant d'en diriger le site web puis de devenir le directeur de la rédaction du quotidien. Il a écrit dans plusieurs magazines et collaboré à de nombreux médias internationaux. Il est aussi l'auteur de deux livres d'actualité internationale et politique et d'un roman.

Leighton Walter Kille

Rédacteur en chef, chargé notamment de la coordination internationale et technique

Leighton est l'un des fondateurs de Journalist's Resource, un projet de Harvard Kennedy School, où il fut le rédacteur en chef. Il a aussi travaillé pour le Boston Globe, le San Francisco Bay Guardian et plusieurs autres médias aux États-Unis.

Thomas Hofnung

Après des études de sciences politiques et de journalisme, Thomas s'installe en ex-Yougoslavie au milieu des années 90, où il couvre la fin du conflit. Au début des années 2000, il rejoint le service étranger du quotidien Libération, où il suit l'actualité africaine, puis les questions de défense. Il est l'auteur de plusieurs livres consacrés aux conflits en Bosnie et en Côte d'Ivoire.

Jennifer Gallé

Après avoir étudié la philosophie, Jennifer a travaillé pendant dix ans pour la presse quotidienne (Metro) avant de lancer son propre magazine (Paprika). Elle a coordonné une trentaine de lancements de journaux dans le monde et a également exercé comme traductrice (L'Expérience de l'invisible, 2015).

Caroline Nourry

Caroline a travaillé 15 ans dans la presse spécialisée BtoB (L'Usine Nouvelle, LSA...) et grand public (Elle, Paris Match, Version Femina, Télé7Jours...) en tant que directrice de la diversification. Elle a également été directrice du développement du Groupe Sophia Publications, éditeur des revues La Recherche, Historia, L'Histoire et Le Magazine Littéraire.

Aline Richard Zivohlava

Journaliste scientifique et auteur (livres et documentaires). Aline collabore à Marianne, au Figaro Santé et est chargée de cours à l'Institut Pratique de Journalisme (IPJ Paris-Dauphine). Ses postes précédents incluent directrice de la rédaction du magazine La Recherche et journaliste spécialisée énergie et matières premières à La Tribune, Capital et Infomatin.

Estelle Saget

Après ses études en journalisme, Estelle collabore d'abord au cahier Sciences du quotidien Libération. En 2002, elle rejoint la rédaction de l'hebdomadaire L'Express pour y traiter les questions de santé et de médecine. En 2009, elle reçoit le premier Prix du journalisme européen en santé, qui distingue le meilleur article au sein des 28 pays de l'Union. Estelle a consacré de nombreux reportages aux avancées médicales et encouragé la prise de parole des patients dans les médias.

Sonia Zannad

Social media manager et responsable du trafic

Sonia Zannad a rejoint l'équipe The Conversation France en janvier 2016. Social media manager, elle s'occupe également de la diffusion des articles auprès des médias et de la rubrique arts et culture. Titulaire d'un master en histoire contemporaine et d'un diplôme en sciences politiques et en coaching, elle a été rédactrice et traductrice pour des institutions scientifiques et des ONG (IRD, Unicef). Depuis 2010, elle multiplie les expériences en community management et en journalisme, avec un appétit prononcé pour les sujets culturels, la psychologie et le numérique.

Clea Chakraverty a rejoint l'équipe de The Conversation en septembre 2016. Fabrice Rousselot

Global Editor

Fabrice Rousselot started his career as a foreign correspondent for French national newspaper, Libération. He was US bureau chief and UK bureau chief for the daily and spent many years in the field. He then lead Liberation's website before becoming the editor in chief of the newspaper. He left Libération in 2014, and embarked on an adventure with The Conversation, contributing to the launch of The Conversation France in 2015. Fabrice has collaborated with many international magazines and media outlets. He has published one novel and two non fiction books about Pakistan and French politics.

Megan Clement

Deputy Global Editor

Megan Clement has been with The Conversation since its launch in 2011. In Australia she worked on the environment, science and politics desks, winning a Human Rights Media Award for her work with Sharon Pickering on asylum seekers. She was Deputy Editor of The Conversation UK from its launch in 2013 until 2015. Megan is now working on the launch of The Conversation Global. She is based in Paris.

Clea Chakraverty

Clea Chakraverty joined The Conversation Global in September 2016. Previously, she worked as a freelance journalist in India for Indian and French media including the Indian Quarterly, Le Monde Diplomatique and Les Echos.
