The Sunday People is a British tabloid Sunday newspaper, founded as The People on 16 October 1881.
It is published by the Trinity Mirror Group, and shares a website with the Mirror papers. In July 2011 it had an average Sunday circulation of 806,544. By January 2014 the circulation had shrunk to 374,820. Despite its tagline claim to be a "truly independent" newspaper, The People endorsed the Labour Party at the 2015 general election on the recommendation of polling data from its readers.
A people is a plurality of persons considered as a whole, as is the case with an ethnic group or nation. Collectively, for example, the contemporary Frisians and Danes are two related Germanic peoples, while various Middle Eastern ethnic groups are often linguistically categorized as the Semitic people. See the list of contemporary ethnic groups for more examples.
Various republics govern, or claim to govern, in the name of the people. Both the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire used the Latin term Senatus Populusque Romanus, (the Senate and People of Rome). This term was fixed to Roman legionary standards, and even after the Roman Emperors achieved a state of total personal autarchy, they continued to wield their power in the name of the Senate and People of Rome.
A People's Republic is typically a Marxist or socialist one-party state that claims to govern on behalf of the people. Populism is another umbrella term for various political tendencies that claim to represent the people, usually with an implication that they serve the common people instead of the elite.
Foster the People is an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles in 2009. The group is composed of Mark Foster (vocals, keyboards, piano, synthesizers, guitar, programming, percussion) and Mark Pontius (drums, percussion). The group's music, described as melodic dance-infused pop and rock, spans many genres.
Foster founded the band in 2009 after spending several years in Los Angeles as a struggling musician and working as a commercial jingle writer. After Foster's song "Pumped Up Kicks" became a viral success in 2010, the group received a record deal from Startime International and gained a fanbase through small club shows and appearances at music festivals. After releasing their debut album Torches in May 2011, "Pumped Up Kicks" became a crossover hit on commercial radio in mid-2011 and eventually reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100. The record also produced the popular singles "Helena Beat" and "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)". The group received two Grammy Award nominations for Torches and "Pumped Up Kicks".
Ira Jeffrey Glass (/ˈaɪrə/, born March 3, 1959) is an American public radio personality and the host and producer of the radio and television show This American Life.
Glass was born in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, to Jewish parents Barry Glass, an accountant, and Shirley Glass, a psychologist, infidelity researcher, and author whom the New York Times called "the godmother of infidelity research."
He is the first cousin once removed of composer Philip Glass, who has appeared on Glass' show and whose music can often be heard on the program.
Glass attended Milford Mill High School in Baltimore County where he was active in student theater, student government, and yearbook; he was also the co-editor of the student literary magazine. He played the part of Captain George Brackett in Milford's 1975 production of South Pacific, Lowe in their 1976 production of Damn Yankees, and Bud Frump in their 1977 production of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; along with his involvement on stage, he was a member of the Thespian Society. Glass was involved in student government during his junior and senior years, as a member of the executive board. His involvement in yearbook started in tenth grade and continued until his graduation in 1977. A rather popular and outgoing student, Glass also was involved with the morning announcements, as well as being a member of the Milford Mill Honor Society in 1977. While in high school, he wrote jokes for Baltimore radio personality Johnny Walker.
"Raise Up" is a song recorded by American rapper Petey Pablo. It was released in August 2001 as the lead single from his debut album Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry. The song peaked at number 25 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in October 2001. The song was certified Gold in 2002.
The premise of the song is simple, Pablo represents his native North Carolina, and calls on the audience to "take your shirt off, twist it 'round yo' hand, spin it like a helicopter." At UNC football games, The Marching Tar Heels play the chorus of this song after the defense makes a third down stop. The first verse of his song, "Who am I? Petey Pablo, motherfucker!", is an allusion to Beenie Man's dancehall single, "Who Am I (Sim Simma)".
The song samples "Enta Omri" by Hossam Ramzy.
According to Petey Pablo, the premise of the song to the outside listener is simple in the nature that North Carolina towns are being named, but the real meaning is shrouded in mystery. "Each town name in the song is a location for a NC prison," stated Pablo.

A young woman is assigned to teach school in a secluded valley whose inhabitants appear stern, secretive and anti-pleasure. Following two children who disappear to play in the woods, she finds that this is actually a community of extraterrestrials with mild paranormal powers who are attempting to repress and deny their heritage for fear of arousing prejudice and hatred in their human neighbors. Based on a series of novels by the late Zenna Henderson.

June 2012: I found my hard drive with this on, re-conformed it from 30p to 24p to make it look nicer and polished it a little. Nothing major, just with the retiming to 24p the edits went out so tidied them up! Added a tiny grade and a bit of film grain. Shot over a couple of nights, taking the 5dmk2 out on the streets and getting shots of the inhabitants and visitors. No lighting, no grading. This is what came out of the camera image wise. All handheld and helped by using the Z-Finder from Zacuto to give the camera a proper viewfinder and improve stability. All shot using one lens. A Nikon mount Zeiss ZF 50mm f1.4 Music is performed by Stacey Kent: You can't take that away from me. Converted to 24p JES De-Interlacer Thanks to Dennis Lennie and Teodor Stoyanov. Benjamin's travel dream was to hitchhike around the USA for a year (his Nana thought it was a pretty curious dream as well). He wanted to meet people from all walks of life and learn about the world through a simple adventure. The video took 3 months to shoot and 2 years to create (although Benjamin's a hitchhiker and wasn't slaving away for 12 hours a day or anything :). I have heard and read different opinions about the wave of Syrian refugees who try to make their way in to the EU. Then I went to Lesvos. 7 days on the Greek Island gave me a healthier, human perspective on the situation. Seeing the people behind the headlines with my own eyes, and feeling their deep struggle, broke my heart. Are they the “threat” people talk about? All I saw were courageous people in a time of crisis, looking for hope. I also got to meet brave volunteers from all over the world who reach out to help all people regardless of their religion, race or background. That inspired me. My hope is that this video might tear down some of the walls of bad ideas and opinions we have built around ourselves. All shot with the Canon 1DC (4K -> HD) Canon 70-200mm f2.8, Canon 28mm f1...
I think it was in the time of spring 2012, when I came across David Shiyang Liu's lovely piece of work about Ira Glass. It was the most inspiring and motivating video I had ever seen in my life. I watched it over and over again, listened to Ira Glass' voice, and told myself, that I am not the only person who is constantly disappointed about the gap between one's taste and one's skills. Later in 2012, I decided to do my own filmed version of Ira's interview - using my own language to tell his message. It took me about a year from concept to upload. I made it for myself and for anybody who is in doubt about his/her creative career. I also think that Ira Glass' message isn't only limited to the creative industry. It can be applied to everyone who starts out in a new environment and is willin...

For centuries, Ethiopia’s Lower Omo Valley has been a crossroads for many distinct tribes. During times of drought, natural resources become scarce, escalating clashes between groups. In an ever-changing landscape, young men and women come of age in an unfamiliar time. The story is narrated from two unique perspectives. Uri- a young boy from the Hamar tribe who becomes a man during his rite of passage ceremony, and Segelgwo- an elder chief of the Daasanach, who reflects on his community’s uncertain future. Fourth in the unintentional "series", after Sofia, Dublin and San Francisco. This time it's Venice Beach in LA that is the focus. Very different from the other 3 in that all the sound and music was recorded on location using just the simple Rode Video Mic plugged straight into the 7D. New version graded with Magic Bullet Looks. hey Monday morning,
See what you're missing,
I can't live my life like this boy,
I said hey little lady,
see what you're missing,
I can't get enough of your love,
she goes...out all alone and out on her own (x4),
how many times do,
I have to say this,
your match is a light for me babe,
I said hey little lady,
see what you're missing,
I can't get enough of your love,
she goes...out all alone and out on her own (x4),
all alone (x6),
the people (x3), change the way you live now,
the people (x3), change the way you live now,
hey Monday morning,
see what you're missing,
I can't live my life like this boy,
I said hey little lady,
see what you're missing,
I can't get enough of your love,
she goes...out all alone and out on her own (x4),
