Bristol (i/ˈbrɪstəl/) is a city, unitary authority and county in South West England with an estimated population of 442,500 in 2015. It is England's sixth and the United Kingdom's eighth most populous city, and the most populous city in Southern England after London. People from Bristol are known as Bristolians. The city borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire, with the historic cities of Bath and Gloucester to the south-east and north-east, respectively.
Iron Age hill forts and Roman villas were built near the confluence of the Rivers Frome and Avon, and around the beginning of the 11th century the settlement was known as Brycgstow (Old English "the place at the bridge"). Bristol received a royal charter in 1155 and was in Gloucestershire until 1373, when it became a county. From the 13th to the 18th century, Bristol was among the top three English cities after London (with York and Norwich) in tax receipts. Bristol was eclipsed by the rapid rise of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution.
Bristol City Football Club is a football club in Bristol, England. Their ground is Ashton Gate, located in the southwest of the city. They currently play in the Championship after winning League One during the 2014–15 season. In sealing the League One title, Bristol City became only the second team to win both the third-tier championship and Football League Trophy double during the same season.
Bristol City won the Welsh Cup – despite being an English club – in 1934. In 1907 they finished runners-up in Football League Division One, which is their highest ever final position. In 1909 they lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United, their only final. Since relegation in 1911, however, they only returned to the top division from 1976 to 1980 and did not contend for any honours then. In 1982, Bristol City became the first English club to suffer three consecutive relegations. They were promoted to the Football League Championship in the 2006–07 season after finishing second in League One but failed to make a second consecutive promotion to the Premier League after they were defeated by Hull City in the 2008 Football League Championship play-off Final at Wembley Stadium. With victories in 1986, 2003 and 2015, Bristol City are now the most successful team in the Football League Trophy.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor aircraft/fighter-bomber originally developed for the United States Navy by McDonnell Aircraft. It first entered service in 1960 with the U.S. Navy. Proving highly adaptable, it was also adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force, and by the mid-1960s had become a major part of their respective air wings.
The Phantom is a large fighter with a top speed of over Mach 2.2. It can carry more than 18,000 pounds (8,400 kg) of weapons on nine external hardpoints, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and various bombs. The F-4, like other interceptors of its time, was designed without an internal cannon. Later models incorporated an M61 Vulcan rotary cannon. Beginning in 1959, it set 15 world records for in-flight performance, including an absolute speed record, and an absolute altitude record.
During the Vietnam War, the F-4 was used extensively; it served as the principal air superiority fighter for both the Navy and Air Force, and became important in the ground-attack and aerial reconnaissance roles late in the war. The Phantom has the distinction of being the last U.S. fighter flown to attain ace status in the 20th century. During the Vietnam War, the U.S. Air Force had one pilot and two weapon systems officers (WSOs), and the US Navy had one pilot and one radar intercept officer (RIO) become aces by achieving five aerial kills against enemy fighter aircraft. The F-4 continued to form a major part of U.S. military air power throughout the 1970s and 1980s, being gradually replaced by more modern aircraft such as the F-15 Eagle and F-16 in the U.S. Air Force, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat in the U.S. Navy, and the F/A-18 Hornet in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.

Plot: In New York, Alvin Sanders is a small-time thief who's just been hauled in for stealing a bunch of prawns (shrimp) from a local restaurant. He ends up in a cell with John Jaster, one half of a high-tech criminal team that's just stolen $42,000,000 worth of gold from the Federal Reserve. Realizing that he could die at any moment from his worsening heart condition, Jaster tells Alvin to relay a cryptic message to his wife about the whereabouts of the hidden gold. Alvin doesn't know exactly what the message means, and Edgar Clenteen, the U.S. Treasury investigator working the case, hopes it will lead to the gold or Jaster's partner Bristol, but it does neither. Eighteen months later, Jaster is dead, and both Clenteen and Bristol are still looking for that gold. Clenteen decides to secretly plant a tracking device in Alvin's jaw, release him from prison, and then let the word out that he knows where the gold is hidden. Knowing that Bristol is probably watching their every move, Clenteen hopes Alvin will act as the bait that'll lure Bristol in. To the dismay of Clenteen and his colleagues, agents Wooly, Blum, Boyle, and Walsh, who are tracking Alvin's every word and move, Alvin immediately gets into trouble, although he decides to go straight once he learns that while he was in prison, his girlfriend Lisa Hill gave birth to their son. Even so, run-ins with his criminal brother, Stevie Sanders and Stevie's two partners, Ramundo and Julio, puts Alvin in danger of being locked up again, which threatens to mess up Clenteen's plan. What will happen when Alvin realizes that he's being used as bait to nail Bristol?

A Scubaboy Inc project about some of our favourite places to eat and drink in the city we call home. As a studio we've wanted to pursue more self-initiated work for a long time. The desire to push our work in ways that isn't always possible on client led briefs needs to be satisfied somehow, so we decided to write our own brief and see what happened. Food and drink seems to play an important role in the daily life of the studio, whether it's looking for an excuse to go out for lunch or getting everyone together for a meal out to celebrate, so it seemed like reasonable topic to start with. We were also keen to do something that celebrated Bristol, a city we're very proud to call home, so we decided to make a film that combined our love of good food and drink with the fine array of indepe...
A collection of time lapse photography sequences shot around Bristol, England. Shot on a canon 40d with 17-85mm and 70-200mm 1.4-5.6 IS USM lenses. I'll hopefully sharpen things up with some prime lenses at some point. I'm looking forward to shooting in the summer as this took a few long, cold nights. The sequence with the stars moving over the snow covered downs was the coldest night of the decade apparently and I could only shoot a couple of seconds worth before the lense frosted over, but after seven hours of trial and error, and error, got something. Maybe a sunny film next.
Over the last couple of months I've had the pleasure of making Paper Bristol! As a follow-up to Paper London and Paper Bournemouth I created Paper Bristol to celebrate my recent move to the city. It's the most friendly, vibrant and beautiful place and I wanted to portray this within the sculpture. I have enjoyed every minute of making this piece and I hope the people of Bristol like it too. It’s first home will be in the wonderful Mccann Bristol’s foyer and from there it will be going on a mini tour across Bristol. For updates on it’s whereabouts keep an eye on the hashtag #paperbristol. Videography and photography: Michael Foyle Photography
400 pictures to portray Bristol, the largest city of South West England. With the Clifton Suspension Bridge designed in the 1830s by the 24-year-old engineer Brunel, the port, the ancient churches, the green spaces, the colourful graffitis and the theatre where Cary Grant started his career, Bristol is a vibrant and fun city recently awarded as one of the best places where to live in the UK. Capturing Bristol is a personal project using the time-lapse photography technique, of which I have worked on for the past few years. The scenes were shot at different heights exploring new perspectives of the city. The idea behind the video was to create a 'day in the life' format from dawn to dusk. The time-lapse sequences in this video were all shot on the Canon 550D, a Samyang 14mm and a Walimex Pro 35mm lens. The motion control equipment used was provided by mSlider mslider.com/en/ Soundtrack: "Night Section" by Data Romance itunes.apple.com/us/album/life-cycles-original-soundtrack/id413423796 Filmed and edited in 4k, all the footage is available for license. I recently read a book called 'Do Fly - Find your way. Make a living. Be your best self'. The author, Gavin Strange, talks about developing creative side projects. It was such a refreshing read and I felt totally inspired, so I set myself a project and this is the result. Hope you all enjoy it! Let me know what you think!
On the bus back from Bristol, we talked about death
And we talked about a friend that I'd spent some time
with
Once or twice a year
We got to your house, all cold and out of breath
Your child was asleep
We sat down and you offered us a beer
You said : "Do you know what happened today ?"
And I said : "No"
He was family to millions
All over the evening news
But I tend to keep away from the press, the TV and the
radio
I like to keep my mind clean
When I can I always choose
To focus on what's here and
Not know what the world wants me to know
You said : "Would you want some tea or another drink ?"
And I said : "No"
We'd had sun in Bristol and
Fun with friends in London
And an awesome time as usual on tops of hills
In Leeds
We listened to Fred Neil
It sounded dark with the loudness on
You whispered to me
People whisper when a baby sleeps
You said : "Will you need an extra blanket ?"
