The Hon W C Wentworth, AO, was an Australian politician and a Federal Member of the Australian Parliament from 1949 to 1977. Wentworth is known as the Founding Father of the Institute. Professor Mick Dodson, a Yawuru man from Broome, a Professor of law and former Australian of the Year, is the current Chairperson of the AIATSIS Council.
