Amy Hempel (born December 14, 1951) is an American short story writer, journalist, and teaches creative writing at Bennington College and at Harvard University.
Hempel was born in Chicago, Illinois. She lives in New York and is Briggs-Copeland Lecturer of English at Harvard University, where she began teaching in 2009. Additionally, she teaches fiction at in the Low-Residency MFA Program in Writing at Bennington College. She has previously taught at Sarah Lawrence College, Duke University, The New School, Brooklyn College, and Princeton University. She is also a contributing editor at The Alaska Quarterly Review.
A known dog-enthusiast, Hempel also volunteers at a high-kill shelter in Manhattan and is a founding board member of the Deja Foundation.
Hempel is a former student of Gordon Lish, in whose workshop she wrote several of her first stories. Lish was so impressed with her work that he helped her publish her first collection, Reasons to Live (1985), which includes "In the Cemetery Where Al Jolson Is Buried", the first story she ever wrote. Hempel credits Lish's influence for the lack of pressure she has felt to become a novelist rather than a short story writer. Originally published in TriQuarterly in 1983, "In the Cemetery Where Al Jolson Is Buried" is one of the most extensively anthologized stories of the last quarter century.
Grace Paley (December 11, 1922 – August 22, 2007) was an American-Jewish short story writer, poet, and political activist.
Grace Paley (née Goodside) was born in the Bronx to Isaac and Manya Ridnyik Goodside, who anglicized the family name from Gutseit on immigrating from Ukraine. Her father was a doctor. The family spoke Russian and Yiddish along with English. The youngest of the three Goodside children (sixteen and fourteen years younger than brother and sister Victor and Jeanne, respectively), Paley was a tomboy as a child.
In 1938 and 1939, Paley attended Hunter College, then, briefly The New School, but never received a degree. In the early 1940s, Paley studied with W. H. Auden at the New School for Social Research. Auden's social concern and his heavy use of irony is often cited as an important influence on her early work, particularly her poetry. On June 20, 1942, Grace Goodside married cinematographer Jess Paley, and had two children, Nora (1949-) and Danny (1951-). They later divorced. In 1972 Paley married fellow poet (and author of the Nghsi-Altai series) Robert Nichols.
Jim Shepard (born 1956) is an American author and professor of creative writing and film at Williams College.
Shepard was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He received a B.A. at Trinity College in 1978 and an MFA from Brown University in 1980. He currently teaches creative writing and film at Williams College. His wife, Karen Shepard, is also a novelist. They are on the editorial board of the literary magazine The Common, based at Amherst College.
Shepard's work has been published in McSweeney's, Granta, The Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, Harper's, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Ploughshares,Triquarterly, and Playboy. His short story collection — Like You'd Understand, Anyway — won the Story Prize in 2008, and was nominated for a National Book Award in 2007. The novel Project X won the 2005 Massachusetts Book Award. Along with writing novels and short stories, Shepard has also drafted two screenplays, one about Kenneth Donaldson and the O'Connor v. Donaldson case, and the other a movie adaptation of Project X.
"The Man" is a slang phrase that may refer to the government or to some other authority in a position of power. In addition to this derogatory connotation, it may also serve as a term of respect and praise.
The phrase "the Man is keeping me down" is commonly used to describe oppression. The phrase "stick it to the Man" encourages resistance to authority, and essentially means "fight back" or "resist", either openly or via sabotage.
The earliest recorded use[citation needed] of the term "the Man" in the American sense dates back to a letter written by a young Alexander Hamilton in September 1772, when he was 15. In a letter to his father James Hamilton, published in the Royal Dutch-American Gazette, he described the response of the Dutch governor of St. Croix to a hurricane that raked that island on August 31, 1772. "Our General has issued several very salutary and humane regulations and both in his publick and private measures, has shewn himself the Man." [dubious – discuss] In the Southern U.S. states, the phrase came to be applied to any man or any group in a position of authority, or to authority in the abstract. From about the 1950s the phrase was also an underworld code word for police, the warden of a prison or other law enforcement or penal authorities.
FANNY
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears in these eyes telling you
Am I blue
You'd be too if each plan with your man
Done fell through
There was a time, I was his only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one
Lonely
Was I gay
Till today
Now he's gone and we're through
Am I blue
There was a time, I was his only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one
Oh lonely
Was I gay
Till today
Now he's gone and we're through
Now he's gone and we're through
Oh god, did you hear that note
It was given to me by my friend Grace Moore on my birthday
Oy, was she glad to get rid of it
Through
I think I give it to her back, or her front
Am I blue
Am I blue am I blue ain't these tears in these eyes tellin' you
Am I blue you'd be too if each plan that you had done and fell through
There was a time I was your only one now I'm sad and lonely one I'm such lonely one
Thank you, I thank you ladies & Gentlemen,
thank you so much.
Thank you and we’d like to do one of the songs, the number one hit, on the hit parade*.
We’d like to give you our versions of it.
Anyway we hope you like it.
Woo o o o o o o...........woo!
Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue Moon
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue Moon
You know just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper please adore me
And when I looked to the Moon it turned to gold gold gold gold
Blue Moon
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper ple......ase adore me
And when I looked the Moon had turned to gold gold gold gold
Blue moon
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Without a love of my own
Without a love of my own
Now it’s a pity, but they asked us to sing
this request, and so we tried our best
to prove that we were not,
that we are not gone a pray
to sing a number one hit on the hit parade.
They say: “If you can’t beat them, join them”,
and so we did, and so we did
But it’s a pity to take pretty, pretty tune like a blueblueblueblue moon
and mass up such a pretty tune, like this
blueblueblueblueblueblueblueblue moon.
* This refers to the song performed by the Marcels and reached the # 1 on the hit parade in 1961.
Am I blue
Yes I'm blue
It started the day I lost you
Nobody ever missed somebody like I do
Am I blue
Am I blue
Just this mornin'
over coffee
I sat there cryin'
cause you're gone long gone
I didn't know just how much
I was gonna miss you
till I spent my first night alone
Am I blue
Yes I'm blue
How could I have been such a fool
Now look at all the misery I'm going through
Am I blue
Am I blue
Tried to call and say I'm sorry
I couldn't get you on the line
You'll never know just how much
I'm wishin' you would show up
and say you've changed your mind
Am I blue
Yes I'm blue
It started the day I lost you
Nobody ever missed somebody like I do
Oh am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears in my eyes tellin' you
Well am I blue
You'd be too
If each plan that you had, done and fell through
There was a time I was your only one
but now I'm the sad and lonely one
Was I gay
I should say
Now she's gone and we're through
Am I blue
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears in my eyes tellin' you
Well am I blue
You'd be too
If each plan that you had, done and fell through
There was a time I was your only one
but now I'm the sad and lonely one
Was I gay
I should say
Now she's gone and we're through
Am I blue
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears in my eyes telling you
Am I blue
You would be too
If each plan with your man just fell through
Was a time I was his only one
Now I'm the sad and lonely one
Ooh
Was I gay
Till today
Now he's gone and we're through
Am I blue
Was a time I was the only one
Now I'm the sad and lonely one
Ooh
Was I gay
Till today
Now he's gone and we're through
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ooh hoo
Am I blue
Harry Akst / Grant Clarke
It was a morning, long before dawn
without a warning I found he was gone
How could he do it
Why should he do it
He never done it before
Am I blue
am I blue
ain't these tears, in these eyes telling you
How can you ask me "am I blue"
why, wouldn't you be too
if each plan
with your man
done fell through
There was a time
when I was his only one
but now I'm
the sad and lonely one...lonely
Was I gay
untill today
now he's gone, and we're through
I'm just a woman, a lonely woman,
waiting on the weary shore.
I'm just a woman who's only human,
one you should feel sorry for.
Well, I woke up this morning a long about dawn.
Without a warning I found that he was gone.
Why did he do it? How could he do it?
He'd never done it before.
Am I blue. Am I blue.
Ain't these tears in these eyes tellin' you?
Oh, am I blue? Well, I bet you would be, too,
if each plan with your man done fell through.
There was a time I was his only one.
but now I'm the sad and lonely one.
Was I gay 'til today?
But now that man is gone,
he's gone and we are through.
Am I blue.
There was a time I was his only one.
But now, a, now, now, now, I'm the sad and lonely one.
Oh god, I'm lonely.
But I remember, oh, I remember when I was gay.
That was up until today,
'cause now that man is gone, he's gone and we are through.

If you see me lookin' clean cut
Matchin' from head to toe dippin' with a mean strut
Throwin' and blowin' green stuff hella creamed up with a bling cup
Ain't no wicked we can kick it if you blue or beamed up
If you, see me step off in the clubber with some pros
With about 6 of 'em cut no longer waiting to be chose
And if you hear me tell my homies anything goes
With these chickens dippin' to Davy's right when the clubber close
If you see me on the grind getting' mine
If you bust in the room and find me hittin' yours from behind
If you hear me bustin' rhymes rippin' each and every time
If I got it at capacity and you still got a line
If I'm rollin' on dubs, if it's K-Town bud
If they showin' me love with a red rug at the club
If you see them hatas giving me mugs, ladies giving me hugs
It ain't no rocket science it's because
I'm a playa
I'm a playa
I'm a playa
I'm a playa
I'm a playa
I'm a playa
I'm a playa
I'm a playa
Oh oh I'm a playa
I'm a playa in every sense of the word ya heard
I'm getting' money from these dummies flip your chick so absurd
I'm a playa and I pop collars
I'm a playa when I don't or when I do drop dollars them rot weilders
She don't want no softy sayin' he do when he don't
She don't want no perpetrating 9 to fiver trying to flaunt
She don't want no punk that can't get it krunk
No she don't that's how it go so my homie Kaliko tell'em what she want
She want a playa not thugs on dubs
We be rollin' them 22's and 3's pop ludes and V's
I'm in hot pursuit of a prostitute Kaliko knock boots gots lots to shoot
Im pullin out the latex and given it to who's next
And fool'em pull a brewnet wit unforgettable sex
She's oohin-oohin' sweat and I ain't telling who's wet
And I ain't getting loose yet so who's next 4 group sex
Never ever tell ya love where else you get your love
Move in groups no one on one when you hit the club
And you should know this if you call yourself a wicked thug
If you creep to the movies throw away your ticket stub
If you sexin' learn this lesson when you wash off
Just use hot water don't put no soap on your wash cloth
That way when you get home no questions you won't leave her bent
Don't be a dope and use the soap cause it will leave a scent
Don't tell a #2 that she's your one and only
Cause if she know it's way easy to go her own way
If you taking chickens to your secret home hey
Always go the back way to confuse'em just take the long way
To all the ladies if you playin' throw ya hands up
To all my fellas if you playin' throw ya grands up
This is 4-eva baby having clever thangs I'm a playa
Well am I blue, am I blue
Ain't these tears in my eyes tellin' you
Well am I blue, you'd be too
If your pal says your gal's done with you
There was a time, I was the only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one, oh dear
Well was I gay, I should say
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
You see I made up my mind when I was seventeen,
I ain' with no marriage and a weddin' ring,
I be a player fo' life so where's my wife,
prob'ly at the rehab stuck on the pipe,
'cause she must be smokin' and I'm not jokin'
Too Short baby comin' straight from Oakland,
Got way mo' bitches than I ever need,
I put that on a big fat bag of weed,
'cause I can give you a bitch who wouldn't give you joint,
Bitches ain' shit and now I made my point,
so you can light that weed,
while I spit this rap,
and tell you 'bout a player from way back,
I was only fourteen when I first got my dick sucked,
now I'm grown up and I really like to bust nuts,
Gittin' freaky in the right situations,
You wanna rap well that's a nice occupation,
To git pussy when you want 'n how you want it foo'
'cause I was fuckin' ugly hoes back in high schoo'
I used to fuck young-ass hoes,
Used to be broke and didn't have no clothes,
Now I fuck top notch bitches,
Tellin' stories 'bout rags to riches,
'bout a pimp named Shorty from the Oakland set,
Been mackin' fo' years 'n ain't fell of yet,
So if you ever see me rollin' in my drop top caddy,
throw a peace sign and say hey pimp daddy!
'cause I never would fron' on my folks,
I slow down and let the gold diggers count my spokes,
Bitches come a dime a dozen,
So don't get mad when I fuck your cousin,
your two sisters, I even fuck your ex-bitch,
Short Dog in the house with some player shit...
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
All the fake players peep game from the real,
Player hatin' lover tell me how do ya feel,
When you front to the homies how you grind 'em,
Look fo' a tramp, but you can't find 'em,
You got one girlfriend you see her every night,
comin' around the partners, lyin' about your life,
Looked at your watch it said six twenty-two,
Cut to the house and said baby I love you,
Can't act like a mack like playboy Sho'
an' the rest of the macks in the streets of the O bitch!
Comin' up we learn how to freak these hoes,
and when your through gittin' yours then you shake these hoes,
and when your older, it's nothin' but a routine,
Makin' G's everyday workin' blue jeans,
I know I seen it before,
I see it again,
Young tender saying Short would you be my man...
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
Yeeeah there's alot of fake players out there
talkin' bad about Ant Banks, you know what I'm sayin'
But hey ain' trippin up
Short Dog, what you do about them player haters
Try 'n stay away from Kriss Kross imitators,
Put ya in a cross 'cause they really jus' haters,
I thought you knew, Short Dog is a player,
Born to mack, 'n got bitches everywhere,
I ride around town in my clean-ass cars,
Screenin' these hoes like movie stars,
Checkin' my traps like a dirty rat,
I was born to mack,
I'm hookin' hoes like crack, I be a monkey on your back bitch,
Until you kick that Short Dog habit got you on my dick,
and even though I can't fuck you every day,
that's 'cause I got another bitch aroun' the way,
We can all get together on a late night,
cut to the house hook somethin' up real tight,
I really don't care,
cause I'm a player...
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
[I'm a player and I'm playin' jus' the bass]
Am I blue, ah am I blue
Ain't these tears in these eyes telling you
Am I blue
You'll be too
I said if this plans with your man
Done fell through
Oh there was a time
When I was, when I was he's only one
But look at me and see now

I'm a fool and I'm the only one
Was I gay, was I gay until today
Oh God he's gone, he's gone and we're through
Am I blue
There was a time there was a time
I said there was a time
That I was he's only one
But right now, right now
I'm, I'm the sad of the sad and lonely one
I'm the left behind only one
Am I blue, ah am I blue
Now he's gone and we're through
Am I, am I blue
Am I blue? Am I blue?
Ain't these tears
In these eyes telling you?
Am I blue? You'll be too
If your schemes like your dreams
Done fell through
Was a time, I was her only one
Now I am the sad and lonely one
Oh, yes I am
Was I gay 'til today?
Now she's gone and we're through
Am I blue?
Was a time, I was her only one
Now I am the sad and lonely one
I'm such a lonely one
Was I gay 'til today?
Now she's gone and we're through

I'm on the scene, drankin lean, mixed with Spire in a plastic cup
I'm from the hood, call it North, where Project Pat went to jail and court
But now he back on the Southern bricks, we gon' drink a lot and players smoke Newport
Uptown, hit the blush, or watch these diamonds blind you up
Nothin but self-made millionaires so you corporate folks can shut the fuuuuuuuuuck
I got a deep freezer up on my neck and sno-cones up in my ear
A ice tray up in my mouth, I'm lookin somethin like a chandelier
You can call me the ice man, I cause a blizzard every time I breathe
Posted up on that South Lee, with Big Mix and my boy Lil' Heat
Where's the drank I'm runnin low, Cabbage Head told me it's a drought
But not to worry dough never doubt, I'll go to the doctor with a cough
It's Paul Wall baby that's my name, fly like a plane what it do
I drop the top of my potnah plaque and chunk the deuce to that boy Gooch
Just like a midget I'm sittin low, and like a snail I'm crawlin slow
Where's Mike, where's Bawdy, he on the grind ducked on the low
Yeah I like my music slow, yeah I like my train mud
I'm chopped up by Michael Watts, it's Paul Wall baby that's what's up
"I'm a playa, ain't no doubt, hoes wanna know what I'm 'bout"
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears in these eyes, telling you
Am I blue
You'd be, too
If each plan with your man, done fell through
Was a time, I was his, his only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one, Lordy
Was I gay, till today
Now he's gone and we're through
Yes, I'm blue
Am I blue
Oh) You'd be, too
If each plan with your man, done fell through
There was a time I was, I was his only one
Oh but now I'm
I'm the sad and lonely one, oh Lordy
Was I gay, I was happy until today
But now he's gone and we're through
Yes, I'm blue
Now he's gone and we're through
Now when I step out on the block, I'm like a new set of J's
My sticky green European, with DVD on play
My bumper kit recline, when I press rewind
Blue face with baguettes, on my Rolex shine
I got a Navigator with alligator skin, and 4 or 5 TV's in it
20 inches spinning, my Cadillac black on black with four 18's
in the back
I put a glacier on my chest, and almost had a heart attack
I got my mind right, 24 hours going dollar for dollar
Candy red, on fo's and choppers
Black flipper yack sipper, mo-mo wood grain gripper
And a platinum Italian Bentley, on 20 inch clippers
When the mic on Mike Jones, the crowd get outrageous
When they see my slab, they all scream contagious
I crawl like a kitten, with my windows tinted
Watching TV's in it, so you won't see me in it
Got a piece so shiny, you see yourself in it
Cause I'm a bread winner, 3-65 head spinner
Mike Jones be my name, but you can call me Sachie
I pull up in a slab, that'll knock out Rocky
I'm a baller baby, shot caller baby
In the Lex having sex, 20's crawling baby
I pull a white Jag, with a raw blue rag
It's been two three weeks, and I ain't used my thumb rag
But my grill (still shining), fifth wheel (still reclining)
And when the freaks see the platinum teeth speak, they be whining
My fo's are magnificent, ask Magnificent
My piece my chain and pinky ring, be all glistening
I'm Mike Jones, through the Woodnorth mayn
I can pimp the pen, or freestyle from the brain
Spit game from the head, and make a bitch give me head
If I ain't getting that bitch head, I'm getting that bitch bread
Dollas, hopping out the marble blue Impala
You ain't stepping in my slab, if you don't go low and swalla
I'm swerving in a Excursion, with three fo' pound birds
Now let's freestyle, I show my platinum smile
Mike Jones going long, head shots up in the chrome
I stepped outside, my girl got a Gucci thong
On her body call me Sacci, my do stay cocky
You might see me with Magnificent, or Kiotti
I steady be going, Mike Jones steady flowing
And wherever you see me, I gotta throw some mo' in
Showing off, it's the Mike Jones ain't got a job
But I still got the bitch, to go low and head bob
Teeth falling for an hour, I hopped out the shower
You in see Miogi on, with the baby powder
Where is the Chris Braser, hopped in my Blazer
Got cash up, so I bought a skyscraper
Steady freestyling, steady going long and strong
Am I blue, yes I'm blue.
It started the day I lost you.
Nobody ever missed somebody like I do.
Am I blue, am I blue.
Just this morning over coffee
I set to crying 'cause you're gone, long gone.
I didn't know just how much I was gonna miss you,
Till I spent my first night alone.
Am I blue, yes I'm blue.
How could I have been such a fool?
Now look at all the misery I'm going through.
Am I blue, am I blue.
Tried to call and say I'm sorry -
I couldn't get you on the line.
You'll never know just how much I'm wishing
You would show up and say you've changed your mind.
Am I blue, yes I'm blue.
It started the day I lost you.
Nobody ever missed somebody like I do.
I'm blue, so blue, and I just don't know what I should do
Yes I'm blue, it's true, that might sound sad, but it's so true
Sometimes my life gets me so down
You know it's even got me thinkin' that I don't want to be around
That's why I'm blue, boo hoo I'm blue.
I'm blue, what can I do? It keeps me asking myself what's the use
Well I'm blue, stone blue, sometimes it's so hard but you know you must get through
Seems the sun's goin' down and it's getting pretty late
There ain't nothing left for me, all I could do is wait
Till it's all been through, boo hoo I'm blue.
You know you don't see nothing no no, you don't want to see
So I guess my good eyesight's been the trouble with me
But it's true, it's sad but true, I'm so blue, no.
There ain't nothing without trouble
All you gotta do is slip and fall just one time
Still I can't get used to spend my life through stumblin' down the line
I'm blue, and I just can't seem to get myself together
I'm blue and when you talk about stormy weather, it rains most every every every day.
I'm blue, I'm stone blue and don't know what to do
I just can't seem to get myself up and out
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears in my eyes tellin' you
Am I blue
You'd be too
If each plan with your man
Done fell through
There was a time
I was the only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one,
ooh lonely
Was I gay,
til today
Now he's gone and we're through
Am I blue
There was a time
I was the only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one,
ooh lonely
Was I gay,
til today
But now he's gone and we're through
now he's gone and we're through
Am I blue, am I blue
Ain't these tears in my eyes tellin' you
Am I blue, you'd be too
If each plan with your man done fell through
There was a time, I was the only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one, ooh lawdy
Was I gay till today
Now he's gone and we're through, am I blue
(Instrumental Break)
There was a time, I was the only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one, ooh lawdy
Was I gay till today
Now he's gone and we're through
FANNY
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears in these eyes telling you
Am I blue
You'd be too if each plan with your man
Done fell through
There was a time, I was his only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one
Lonely
Was I gay
Till today
Now he's gone and we're through
Am I blue
There was a time, I was his only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one
Oh lonely
Was I gay
Till today
Now he's gone and we're through
Now he's gone and we're through
Oh god, did you hear that note
It was given to me by my friend Grace Moore on my birthday
Oy, was she glad to get rid of it
Through
I think I give it to her back, or her front
Am I blue
Oy, is this thing heavy
I'm just a woman, a lonely woman
Waiting on the weary shore
I'm just a woman who's only human
One you should feel sorry for
It was a morning, long before dawn
Without a warning I found he was gone
How could he do it, why should he do it
He never done it before
Am I blue, am I blue
Ain't these tears in these eyes telling you
How can you ask me am I blue
Why, wouldn't you be too
If each plan with your man
Done fell through
There was a time
When I was his only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one... lonely
Was I gay, until today
I'm just a woman, a lonely woman
Waiting on the weary shore
I'm just a woman who's only human
One you should feel sorry for
It was a morning, long before dawn
Without a warning I found he was gone
How could he do it, why should he do it
He never done it before
Am I blue, am I blue
Aint these tears in these eyes telling you
How can you ask me am I blue
Why, wouldnt you be too
If each plan with your man
Done fell through
There was a time
When I was his only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one...lonely
Was I gay, until today
Now he's gone, and we're through
[PPC 1]
Yeahh.. bout time the troops do it, stay true with another flow
So I keep it fluid, stack to stack, but still I flip this hoe
You know like I know players do playin why you push me?
Can't be goin out like no trick just cause of my love for good pussy
Brown-skinned and body like BOW BOW has to have it (gots to)
But breakin myself for a hoe? Nah that's that silly rabbit
And I'm not here Slim Jim's a choosy fellow
And I got my choice, do you hear me baby? Hello!
Nah, I ain't clownin just remindin you of the fact
When you met this black young playa, you met a mack
And I only say that, cause bitches tell me everyday
"You can have all you want, long as I can come and play"
Now if I got it like that, then I'm mackin to the tune
Don't make an ass out of u and me just cause you assume
Yeah it might be to get her home to groan, no I ain't rich
But one thing's for god damn sure, I'm a playa bitch
[Chorus x3: PPC]
I'm a playa, BITCH! I thought you knew
like every other playa, in my crew
[PPC 2]
Eloquent, slick, saavy conversation
undoubtedly makes me pimp of the nation
A power playa, conclusively describes me
So when you hear the term refer to PPC
Suckers speculated, on how a true playa chilled
but didn't peep the real but had their hands in the till
So how you figure nigga you can bullshit a bullshitter
One hit I got the one-hitter quitter
Three hundred and thirty-degrees of jungle fever
Fuck black pussy, I don't want y'all either
Got me an Italian bitch, on my diggy diggy dick
I'm thinkin about sellin out cause all you black hoes trippin
So what's my occupation? Yo, I sell pussy hoes
I got a boost a nympho dick sucka
Taught her every single way to play a motherfucker
If you proper doppa zoppa you gon' slang that ass
[Chorus]
[PPC 1]
Oh yeah, now Pimpin Carl, told me to kick the hoes to the curb
Any disrespectin bitch I diss gets what a bitch deserves
I met this tender, golden skin, green eyes, thick and lean
Baby told me she was twenty but bitch was only seventeen
But the pussy, that shit was like angel food cake
and I woulda ate it, but that woulda been a fatal mistake
Baby came to the Penthouse tried to clown me with my girl
I ain't been up in you bitch, so why you rockin my world?
Now my lady didn't trip, she just stayed in her place
like a lady's supposed to, and I shut the door in the young bitch's face
Next time break it from the top serve me not from the bottom
I know you know I know you know bitches bitch I got em
I makes love to my lady and fuck my bitches swell
I treat my lady like a bitch sometimes but she can't tell
So this is from me to you, I know which is which
So call me when you're twenty-two, cause I'm a playa bitch
[Chorus]
[PPC 2]
I told you befo' just like I'm tellin you now
We all can co-exist without a motherfuckin twist
I'm a P.I.M.P. - Positive Image Makin Progress
Fuck the dumb shit I kicks that fly shit
For you bitches, I got my hand in the pussy jar
So who's next to get kicked out the car
of this money back guaranteed bitch getter
Smooth hoe stealer, chug-a-luggin on a Miller
I got the bank, finesse, looks and brains
and a big fat black long ding-a-ling
So tally ho, tally ho, said it befo'
No insubordination out of my hoes
If you steppin this way girl you payin what you weigh
That's what my playa buddy RaeRae used to always say
cause I'ma Trojan, and I'm rollin like Nolan
And best believe girl the car ain't stolen!
Am I blue
Am I blue
Ain't these tears
In these eyes tellin' you
Am I blue
You'd be too
If each plan with your girl
Done fell through
Was a time I was her only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one
Lonely one
Was I gay
Till today
Now she's gone and we're through
Am I blue Was a time I was her only one
But now I'm the sad and lonely one
Lonely one
Was I gay
Till today
Now she's gone and we're through
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
Gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
Gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
I wanna tell all you people
I dropped a penny in the well
Hoping you would come back soon
I couldn't believe what I heard
A fortune teller told me
My love with you was doomed
I hope her reading was wrong
I hope she was wrong
'Cause you been gone too long, come home
Hey, gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
Gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
Gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
I can't sleep at night for thinking of you
Every night about two
My love for you comes tumblin' down
I can't stand being here alone
I start a feelin' and a fumblin'
But you ain't nowhere around
I hope her reading was wrong
I hope she was wrong
'Cause you been gone too long, come home
Hey, gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
Hey, gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
Gong gong gong, yeah
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
(I'm blue do be, do be, do be do)
