Buren ( pronunciation ) is a municipality and a city in the Betuwe region in the Netherlands. It is also a historical county, with the Dutch Monarch still holding the title "Count of Buren".

The earliest known reference to the settlement dates from 772. The castle built by the Lords of Buren is first mentioned in 1298. The town was granted city rights in 1395 by Sir Alard IV of Buren, which led to the construction of a defensive wall and a moat. Significant parts of these still exist. In 1492 the region was promoted to a county (i.e. ruled by a count), but due to its isolated position it never became very important economically. By 1574 the previously Catholic parish church of Saint Lambert (Dutch: Sint Lambertus) had already become Calvinist Reformed Protestant.

Armin van Buuren (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑrmɪn vɑn ˈbyːrə(n)]; born 25 December 1976) is a Dutch trance producer, DJ and radio personality.

Since 2001, Van Buuren has hosted a weekly radio show called A State of Trance, which currently has more than 20 million weekly listeners in 74 countries on over 150 FM radio stations. This radio show propelled him to stardom and helped cultivate an interest in trance music around the world.

Van Buuren has won a number of accolades. He has been ranked the World No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine in their annual Top 100 DJs fan poll a record of five times, 4 years in a row. He is currently ranked World No. 4 on DJ Magazine's list for 2015. In 2014, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for his single "This Is What It Feels Like" featuring Trevor Guthrie, which makes him the fourth trance artist ever to receive a Grammy nomination. In the United States, he holds the record for most entries (21) on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. His 2008 studio album, Imagine, entered the Dutch album chart at No. 1, a first for a trance artist in Dutch music history.

Trevor Guthrie (born February 11, 1973) is a Canadian singer and the former lead singer of the now defunct pop group soulDecision and is now a solo artist.

Early years

Trevor Guthrie was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. At age 3 he was playing the piano and played his first concert at four. In high school at Argyle Secondary School, he began playing the guitar and writing music. He can also speak French, Spanish, and Japanese.

Music career

2000-2004: soulDecision

After a name change and a new record company, MCA, Indecision emerged as soulDecision. And released a number one smash hit with the pop/R&B song "Faded". The song became #1 hit in Canada and a top 25 hit in the United States. The success of that single was followed up by the smash "Ooh It's Kinda Crazy". The album No One Does It Better which was recorded in Velvet Sound Studios in Sydney, Australia; went on to sell over a million copies. After a four-year hiatus and a label change, soulDecision released the single "Cadillac Dress". The single was a moderate radio hit. They released their second album Shady Satin Drug in November 2004. Due to the lack of support from the Canadian music industry, less than 2000 copies were printed and available for sale. Shady Satin Drug, however spawned two more singles, Hypnotize and Kiss The Walls.
